Back in stock! Ordered mine this morning. Sucks to leave SERO plan BUT...cant wait for the phone. 2-5 days they said.

If anyone wants one I would call before end of day

Just got mine this past sat. Gotta say, the phone is hands down fantastic. Not too large, fits easy in my slacks front pocket. Good reception (only 3g in my area), and with minor tuning, I've been getting about a day and a half on charges. Only real complaint, is that the phone is a touch heavier than what I'm used to, and isn't as comfortable to wear with gym/mesh pants as my previous palm...(I use it as an mp3 player while working out.

Had the unrevoked/tether combo working...up until I did the 2.2 update.....which shut that down. FYI don't update if you plan on rooting your phone.....If you don't want to go through the extra hassel.

Haven't really been a fanboy of either camp, but my pop got one of the new Iphone 4's last week and he was noticeably jealous while looking over my Evo. I think he might even consider returning the phone and going with sprint.

What changes did you do to get that extra battery life? I plan on this being my next phone so I would really like to know

I changed my sync times on all the mail/facebook clients. Sign off of google talk, and use the task killer advanced to make sure all the random apps that run, stay off. I don't have 4g in my area, so I keep that off also.

I also did the cdma fix thing posted earlier in the thread. It also seems like the latest update, seemed to improve battery life a bit.

Even before the little fixes, the battery life wasn't really that bad. Not nearly as bad as people are making out on here. Not anything close to a "deal breaker".

Make no mistake, with Push turned on for email battery life is pretty atrocious. If you're coming from an iPhone (even a 3G) expect worse battery life. This thing has a much bigger screen and more power-hungry processor to drive.

You really have to jump through some hoops to get a usable day's worth of juice out of it, but once you do it's a great phone.

I don't know what you are doing to drain your battery so quickly.

my google talk and gmail pushes are on all the time, weather at 3 hours, facebook off... I made disabled 4g and manually kill tasks (usually on boot, or after standby for a while)

35% surfing, 15% texting/gchating/email, 50% standby... I always have atleast 40-50% battery life after about 15 hours.

My phone was off charger from thursday afternoon til sunday morning before it was dead. It was used sparingly, a handful of calls, a couple dozen texts, maybe 30 minutes of 3g browsing. I charged it up sunday morning and went from sunday noonish to monday evening with heavier use, 3 or so hours of gameboid at 2x-8x speed, a few hours of wifi browsing, about 5 hours of mp3 playback and a few more calls/texts

People complaining about not being able to go from morning to evening without a dead phone, or about it only lasting a few hours or some other ridiculous statement are:

1) Talking out of their ass
2) Have a defective phone

That would be an awful lot of people with defective phones. Which isn't to say it's not entirely possible.

I keep 4G off, Push turned off and always on mobile data off. That gets me through the day with a comfortable charge remaining when I get home.

If I leave Push and mobile data on forget about it. It'll be dead in under 12 hours.

I have found that the wifi radio uses significantly less power than 3G though, so I've got Locale set to turn that on when I'm at home and work.

This. I send 100+ texts a day. Fuck around on the net for a couple hours. Push is on. Gchat is on. Facebook updates. Blah blah blah. I use task killer. I did the radio fix.

I had 60% battery life left last night after all of this.

What is the radio fix?

Good news for those in the Bay Area, Sprint 4G is quietly available in the Bay Area now. I'm getting 4G signal in Santa Clara and north San Jose. Have not tried many areas yet. So turn on your 4G and see if you get a signal.

a quiet chime in over here. Had my evo since launch and have been very pleased. I just put my phone on the charger with 28% percent battery life left after 1 day 12 hours and some change. Lots of wifi usage, a dozen calls, 30+ texts, aquarium live wallpaper, Gensoid usuage(genesis emulator), lots of calculator usage.... blah blah blah.

Dunno what the big fuss is about batteries being inadequate. Using a task killer and shutting off nonsense automatic data syncing goes a long way toward a long battery charge.

I'm sure the quality of your phones signal plays a large role too. My area has excellent coverage, so that is a big plus for me.

Just started looking into phones again. So far how is this phone say compared to the Nexus One or the Incredible? I can get this with my dad's USPS employee discount for 60 bucks a month.

First full day with phone. Have not fooled around with tasks yet. Have active sync to exchange server and comcast email. Less than 1/2 battery after about 7 hours off charger. Looks like I had wifi turned off though. No 4g in minneapolis yet. Still had a sprint family plan under contract so decided to try this vs iphone. This is my first phone that I have used for anything besides talking (yeah I am an old fart). Hardly even texted before so pretty new to all this. So can't really compare it to anything else.

Had the phone for my wife since launch day. Loves pretty much every aspect of the phone, loves the screen size for an internet and video device. We watched a World Cup game on SprintTV when we went out for lunch and didn't have access to a tv. Having a front facing camera is nice, it means I can video chat with my wife in Qik when I'm home in front of my computer. We won't use it a lot, but comes in handy once in a while. Battery life is decent after some tuning. Also loves the fact that the phone really brings out her inner geek. Only "complaint" is that using 4g drains battery really fast, but if I have 4g and unlimited data I ain't complaining.
