I'm supposed to get my evo this week. I'm spending one last meaningful weekend with my iPhone 3G and then moving on. *sniffle*

This looks like it fixes the grounding issue. Pretty cool for being a software update.

WARNING: Lots of folks over on the Android forums are complaining of bricked phones after attempting this OTA update. I can't imagine all of them are retards causing it through user error.

the people bricking their phones are the people who are installing the update twice and/or impatient and not letting the update finsih ...

It appears that some people get another notification to apply the update after it's been applied, and the secondary update can brick??

Just finished installing the software update on my Evo about an hour ago. There were a few times where it seemed like the update wasn't doing anything but I resisted the urge to mess with the phone during the update process. Here is the info after the update.

Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Kernel Version 2.6.29-789bf291 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Software Number 1.47.651.1

Notice any differences yet? My wifi strength in office has increased significantly, and the notification bar is much more sensitive and opens while laying flat.

My wifi signal in the office went from low but usable to non-existent. Won't even connect to the access point now.

Looking forward to trying 802.11N at home though.

Wireless connection seems faster, grounding is gone!!!!touch screen works much better. A couple of my widgets and shortcuts got missed up, but I was able to fix them. Great to see them come out with a fix for things so fast.

What is "grounding"?

On mine it was the top half of the screen not being very responsive especially if I wasn’t holding it with my other hand like when it’s sitting on the table or something.

There is a noticeable improvement with the wifi strength at the office. I never had / or noticed the grounding issue. So I can't really comment on that. Still going to need another day or two but it appears to have helped with battery life as well.
