Are folks generally happy with the evo and sprint ? Been debating between droid x, evo, and galaxy s (vibrant or captivate).

If you can afford Verizon, the X (or the impending Droid 2) might be better. I don't have a problem with Sprint/EVO, but my VZW coverage was much better and I get horrible reception at home. If I was going to be there longer than another month I'd probably just try to get a free microcell or something.

Eff. I've done several methods now and it hangs at the flash hack part.

Just FYI from what I've been reading there has been a problem with people that updated after a certain date. I think Sprint changed some signatures or other things in the update and it hasn't been "hacked" like the previous one has. Very odd, but I'm sure someone is looking into it.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (girly scream)

MR is a high priority for competitive reasons and currently slated to launch at 12:00 pm CST on 7/30

A PR announcement for 2.2 on Friday 7/30 morning. The announcement will let the communities know that we will start pushing out 2.2 beginning the week of 8/1

For a test bed, the new software will be available on client-initiated on Friday afternoon which will give a good sampling before proactively pushing the notification of software available on Tuesday 8/2 (assuming everything goes well)

so better download it at noon tomorrow when its released if you want it asap and test it for htc otherwise you may not get it for awhile.

still no 30 fps cap removal! This just makes my phone feels slooooooow!!!!

That was fixed in one of the roots based off Froyo, so who knows if it was or wasn't added, just because it wasn't in the press release, doesn't mean it wont make it in 2.2.

ugh, they are rolling out tests on phones at noon today, to see if there are any major bugs they need to fix prior to the mass release. Official 2.2 will be next week on either 8/1 or 8/2 assuming no issues.

That said, their servers are slammed right now and I cant dl 2.2 right now grr... who knows how long it will be available.

Good to hear they are finally rolling out 2.2. Really strange though my phone rebooted itself mid afternoon without prompting me. Checked the version and still running 2.1. /boggle

Has anyone used their Evo while roaming yet? Seems the tower in my area is acting up and I've had anywhere from one to zero bars. Then it switches over to full bars on the Verizon network. Tried placing a phone call and I get some error message about "This call can not be completed as dialed" and some error message.

Called Sprint and they said with the plan I have roaming is included and I would not be charged extra for it. After I got off the phone with them I tried dialing a local number again but also included the area code and the call went through.

Manually updated to Froyo yesterday despite reading about the HTC warnings, works perfect except for Swype. Apps loads quicker, multi-touch is more responsive and seems more accurate. And now I can watch the embedded Flash video in FB and other website. Loving it so far.
