Probably waiting for all the beta servers to switch over, host your own server so at least someone can play.

"Your transaction was not able to be processed because Steam is too busy at the moment, however you can play Silver package and we'll get back with you later on the results of your purcase"... they are seriously getting hammered. More people to play against early on! :D It's nice that they've unlocked it even though the cc hasn't fully processed yet.

Edit: It would be cool if someone here could set up a server that the forum members could play on....

"I was able to preorder, DL, and play HL2 Silver. I'm just ran the video test and got 90 FPS. I must say, the Source engine looks amazing! CS:S was fun for the 10 mins I played. The interface is clean clean clean! I love the design."

Yeah it looks like all I'd get are the CDs if I used the voucher to get them to mail it to me :(.

Voucher people... what are you going to do now that CS: Source is coming out?

Play HL2 Silver? Is he saying that he was able to play HL2? I thought they weren't unlocking anything except CS Source.

GODDAMMIT I REALLY wanna play. I'll probably have my younger brother buy the online version so I can at least do some CS:Source until the boxed version comes out...

I haven't been home to check my Steam today..
Now are you guys saying that Voucher ppl who mailed theirs off for CD's don't get CS:Source today, or do none of the voucher folks get em? I was under the impression, that having used my voucher on Steam, I'd be playing a bit of CS: Source tonight

Screw it I just bought the silver package on steam. I'll just pick up the Sims 2 or something at gamestop.

Just got back from playing for a couple of hours. It plays really nicely. My favorite thing by far was me getting shot in the head, crumpling down, and having my head knock over a trashcan (office map) causing it's contents to spill out. Put a big smile on my face to die for once :D

Can't you just cancel the pre-order? I ordered through GameStop.com, and I got them to cancel it(admittedly not without lieing though, I told them I was going to re-order the Collector's Edition, since I know they can't modify web orders like that).

Yeah I did just cancel it. I have credit at the store so I wasn't going to pay out of pocket for it. I'll just use it for the next big game that comes out or something.

Curious as to what WC got a vacation for doing?

And, yep, I also preordered and downloaded CS Source and was playing within about 5 mins.
Very nice gameplay. It inspired me to figure out how to get the SourceDS (dedicated server for source)downloaded and working.

Next we will need them to develop statsme and admin-mod for source.

LOL OMG I love this game. Any of you blow up the computers in the map "Office" ? They have Asus motherboards with Via chipsets sets along with A64's and 9800 Pro's in them. CS:Source is amazing.

What is the verdict on the final CS:Source release for those who bought?

Is it worth it? (note* I don't care about SP)

What is this CS:Source benchmark I keep hearing about?

I only got a chance to try it out for a few minutes while at work and I love it so far. :) I can't wait to get home and really get into it.

As an avid CS fan these past 5 years, my view is source is very exciting and looks and plays great.
I am concerned however with limited (about 10 so far?) maps and probably no way to import old custom maps into source easily, plus no statsme/hlguard/admin_mod support to come psossibly for some time.

As for benchmark, Source comes with a built-in video benchmarking tool which plays one of the video clips that we saw from E3 where figures were made out of water, etc. It gives you a benchmark score for your system (my result was 104fps).

EDIT: Is it worth it? Well, it comes free with HL2, so the issue I think really is wiil you be getting it "sooner or later"?
Personally, I prefer to get my games in CD/DVD form, but since I will need to buy two copies of HL2, one each for me and my son, I am buying one (bronze version) through steam now(which gives me CS Source NOW) and one (silver version) at a b&m on release date.

EDITORIAL NOTE: BTW, I never was a fan of steam, would prefer if it didn't exist, but they have made it so that it has become imperitive to use it in order to be in on the cutting edge of PC gaming.

I'm going to wait for the CE DVD version. I dont feel like using steam, although it seems like you get more from buying the gold package than you do with the CE version of the game. anyways, yeah, still gonna get the CE Version, I like art books... the Warcraft art book that came with Warcraft 3 was awesome.

CS was a little dissapointing, although I guess I was expecting too much. I think I expected better gameplay, but thats not realistic I guess. The map interaction gets me excited though, everything looks really good too and I have a lot of settings turned down mainly in the medium range. I just have to keep reminding myself that the money I spent was for hl2 and future good mods and not for CS which I stopped playing a long time ago. I think the main problem for me is I didnt get to play my favorite map yet (office) and the way the guns handle is a bit changed from what I'm used to (1.4). If you like cs and are planning to get hl2 eventually anyways its worth the preorder, other than that might as well buy it later.

Crap that reminds me, I wonder if the preload files are all still sitting there or not. Thats a lot of space.
