Just what we needed. Someone to counterbalance the age of McCain and another northern liberal on the ticket with the sex appeal of John Kerry and Bob Dole.

Brilliant pick. The democrats always figure out a way to blow it.

One more thing retarded about picking a VP from the senate: They really, really don't have experience governing like a governor would, not that GWB knew how to but he was a governor from Texas without much power.

I'm not convinced that picking Biden will enhance his ticket at all. Maybe they'll win PA, but like Bumrush said, this pick will ensure that he loses all the southern states. It'll be just like 2000 and 2004 without much change in the electoral map, provided that the western states are still GOP.

Yep, old joe will get to keep harping on that "old" stuff despite being damn near as old as McCain.
You have to remember, 1 POW year = 10 human years. Sidney looks like the crypt-keeper and moves like Danny DeVito in Batman Returns.

But somehow he will make the whole "no experience" thing work for our messiah. 🙂
People understand Obama doesn't have "experience" in Washington; that's part of his appeal. Biden is a stark contrast to that, and he was brought on board to sway those undecided voters who want a balanced ticket.

Rumors are out that Sidney has planned a speaking engagement with Romney, his likely pick for VP. I'm crossing my fingers that it's true...I can see McSame's campaign obituary being written right now. 😉

Wow, with the way you talk you'd think NObama would be crushing McCain in the polls, but somehow he's not. What's going on here?

dumb dumb dumb political move. Biden doesn't give Obama women vote, Biden doesn't give Hispanic vote, Biden comes from Delaware with 3 electoral vote, Biden isn't a national name and barely made a dent in any Democratic primary, and his name isn't strong enough to give Obama working class vote.

We have many polls these days having Obama and McCain in virtual tie. If McCain is smart and pick someone women voter would go for, he would have the advantage.

And if Democrat loss this election, I'd say it is a hopeless party that wasted every single political advantage handed by Bush and his disastrous presidency.

But Biden is tough. But Biden is an agent of change after getting elected at 29 and spending more than half his life in politics!! Plus all those Hillary supporters love 65 year old men that look a little like McCain, remember some of them threatened to support McCain! So vote for Obama! We now have someone that is almost as old and experienced as McCain on the ticket!

Something tells me those "important" Hillary supporters are going to have a chip on their shoulders larger than the one Sharpton has on his.

Aside from the Clinton years, the democratic party is just a party of losers who don't understand that "change", which Obamessiah preaches oh so frequently, needs to come gradually. Maybe working class whites aren't as educated, but I wouldn't say they're all stupid. Forcing to change social issues just alienates people who are more conservative in their upbringing.

There is a reason why the dems have only won 3 times since Ford (Clinton won because of Perot?). Look at what the Obamabots did to Bill Clinton, accused him of being a racist even though he has done so much for the African American community.

First thing my wife said this morning.

Actually, I read this morning that Biden actually has 10 years more experience in the Senate than McCain.

edit: I just checked his Wiki and it says he became a senator at age 30.

Obama doesn't need Biden for the women vote-he already has it on his own

Obama doesn't need Biden for the Hispanic vote-he also got that on his own

Biden gives him a strong working-class background, something John "Ask the maid about the # of houses I own" McCain doesn't have. Furthermore, Biden is no pushover, as Republicans are finding out about Obama. Yeah, unlike the last two cycles, Democrats have done their homework and are going to be aggressive.

I can live with a McCain/Romney Presidency (if he won) but there is so much arrogance (from John "I deserve to be president, waaa" Romney) and ammunition there that I don't think it'll survive the election.

Oh God this is going to be fun. Not only has Biden accepted millions from lobbyists, his son is a registered lobbyist too.

Biden's foreign policy acumen after 9/11? Send $200 million to Iran with no strings attached. Brilliant.

FiveThirtyEight has said next week's polls should show Biden has pulled PA out of swing-state territory and into the blue-camp.

Obama was running ahead of McCain in PA before the Biden announcement anyway, but this makes it a lock.

VP's don't typcally help presidential candidates carry states, and which of these states would Biden help carry anyways?

http://www.realclearpolitics.c...bama_vs_mccain/?map=10

purely from the standpoint of getting Obama elected, I don't think Biden was the best choice to swing states or pull in votes. that would have been Clinton or Kaine. and how credible will anyone take him as an attack dog when reading off the talking points despite the fact that he's friends with McCain?

but Biden is the best choice for Obama to have once he's in the white house.

You mean like every single other politician who has held an office of national prominence? Glad you have your prepared attack ready. If he chose someone who had never taken any lobbyist money it would have had to be a complete unknown. Then you would have said "still no experience! waaah!". Now that he has chosen someone with washington experience you cat to pull out the "washington insider/lobbyist waaah!" bag instead.

Biden represents Delaware... the CC state -- I don't even open mail from DE because it's always junk credit card offers. lol. I'm SURE that his connection with his state's major industry will be questioned.

Hah - The McCain campaign already had a commercial ready.
I bet Obama had NO IDEA they were going to make that commercial

Biden is such a blowhard. I can't stand the guy after the stunt he pulled in the SC confirmation hearings. I can't remember if it was Roberts or Alito, but basically he asked the nominee a simple yes or no question. Before they had a chance to answer, he started what amounted to a speech, and after 20 or 30 minutes, he finally gave them the chance to answer.........

Solid choice. Hillary would have been a better choice if Obama wanted to go after votes. This move goes to show that Obama isn't thinking about votes, he is thinking about governing from the White House.

Who is John McCain picking for VP? And more importantly, who cares? This election has been and will be about one person: Barack Obama. Sidney is just puttering along for the ride.

if McCain's puttering within 1% of Obama, what's Obama doing? using a horse to pull his porsche?

Obama would never use a horse to pull his Porsche. He might ask Rezko for the number of a "cheap tow". 😉

SIGH

Obama talks about change(?) and no better change than bring a life long politician as the VP.

Obama has been big about his opposition to the war so he chose Biden and he voted for it.

Lol this is "change" that has been consistent with Obama.

I'd laugh if it wasn't so ridiculous. No matter who McCain chooses there will be just as much if not more ammo of this sort to use. And so many VP picks in the past have done the same thing. It hasn't mattered then and it won't now. Christ people.
