A) Are you in a zone in which your level is reduced to a low amount causing damage to be that low?

B) If not, and the damage you do is doing enough damage to hurt the enemies to death w/o too much issue, then its probable that underwater monsters health is much lower than normal

C) If not either, may want to look in on your abilities to make sure they are not weak as I have not paid attention to the numbers underwater, yet I do damage just fine, and things die.

More importantly what class are you playing? Certain abilities (like Mesmer's Trident skills) just do VERY little damage because they do something else (bounce, debuff targets, buff allies).

Also you're not hitting an armored fish are you? Those things have a ton of armor.

LOL, I use a minimum of 24 randomly generated chars, upper and lower case, with numbers and special chars for all my passwords. As a government worker, I'm used to that sort of password system.

I had a unique one for my GW2 account. Still got hacked. As far as I know, a few HUNDRED THOUSAND accounts have now been hacked. It takes time to go through each account 1 by 1 and clean them out. That is also assuming the compromise at Anet got all the account information and not a partial grab or sell out from an employee at Anet. You do realize all it takes is a greedy and under handed employee at Anet having access to personal info and grabbing little bits at a time to sell to Chinese companies right? With an authenticator that would never matter. If the email verification system had been working for the first week that would probably never happen either. Unless you use the same password for the game as you do for your email, which I don't, as then you would still be screwed.

Which is why I am stating to change your stuff NOW. Or don't follow my advice and watch your account get hacked in the next week or two as they make it to your name on the list.

Sorry to hear your account was compromised :(

I had that happen once with my SC2 account, but luckily for me there's nothing you can really do with a stolen SC2 account aside from just playing on it.

While your password may be incredibly difficult to guess/very long string, is the e-mail you used for the game a very widespread one?

Yes it takes a while to clear an account out, however when D3 was massivly hacked we heard about it from anyone/everyone who played within 3 days. Without forums.

(edit: Fair enough I have not visited the GW2 forums much)

Also, your advice to change an email password should only be required if you allowed both GW2 and your email password to be the same, or if you have a keylogger. (Anet doesnt know your email passwords)

Though beyond all that I can assume it is possible, I have seen people swear up and down on WoW, D3 etc. that they did so many prevention things and yet get hacked (because they made a blunder on clicking something or using a sight that may have a keylogger involved in the banners however).

And no, I will not be hacked. I have nothing to worry about. I never use the internet browser except as email to confirm an account on a game. Only games that use the internet + limited browsing. So only games on it. I also run 3 programs, Avast, Spyware Doctor, and some malware Proc. I also use different email for each game, my emails also run an authenticater. My passwords do not match any other previous password, and my passwords are not digitally written anywhere.

What I really want to know though is, I never got a phising attempt email for my GW2 account like so many talked about getting week 1.

Am I just not a target?

Edit: there was a massive phishing attempts happening first week of GW2. I believe and can even bet more than the majority of hacks came from that. Though not all of them.

Yes, many got phished. Again, I'm a government worker, and know all the security protocols and procedures as well as following them all. Going out of my way with extra steps. I still got hacked. If your account information was compromised through Arenanet ZERO amount of security following and hack prevention on YOUR part is going to prevent your account from being hacked. That's the truth of the matter diesbudt.

Only way to prevent it is if you change your password NOW. If the security compromise happened on Arenanet's end through say an employee selling out info, then if you change your password now you won't be affected. If you don't, and the long lists of info include your account info, you will be screwed when they make it down to your name.

So i dinged level 60. All my traits was back to zero? Is that normal or do they reset everytime you buy a book to progress further? That would explain the weird damage.

Because If I just leveled from 40-60 with no traits trained (even though i did at 40)..OMG. lol

Books reset your traits, correct.

Each book purchase = traits reset.

you have to use the book for traits to be reset, of course.

...but if you use the book, I assume you would go into your trait panels right away and discover then that they had been reset?

Reminds of something silly aigo did, he thought you had to purchase books to reset the traits, when in reality you can just talk to the class trainer and reset it all for a few silver :p

I have 2 options tonight...

#1: Weekly board game night with a bunch of new gaming buddies...
#2: stay home and play Guild Wars 2 with a bunch of people I only know through ATOT and others AT forums and not talking to my roomate for all evening while I slay monsters and explore the world...

People of this Forum, you choose!

So no one has a clue to why underwater damage is significantly less than out of water spells?

30dam vs 300+ damage on land is just not right. Am i missing something gear wise/stat wise that would make it vary that much? I'm using a trident close to same level.

Don't be a newb like me and forget to slot your 6-9 skills for underwater combat. A lot of mine were power signets so I lost damage in water combat.

This.

But honestly I'd suggest the board gaming, unless you don't particularly like them :p

lol yeah I choose Guild Wars 2...anyways the games prposed were either shitty Euros or short mainstream quick fillers...

But, saturday I have a nice Runewars game planned...damn this game is so good!

You see I might have a bug. I can't slot anything in them when underwater. I click on them in the skill page and nothing comes up as selectable.

I might roll a warrior. I like the guardian, but there just seems to be some major compromises that I don't like. If I could switch between 3 weapons that would fix my issues I have. I constantly see myself running around with the 2h staff to get the speed buff, and it is useful in massive fights where its AoE of the standard attack is just so useful (hitting 6-12 guys at once is just so much damage when you add it up). But in boss fights, greatsword + mace/shield are really needed for survival standpoint.

I really like how you can try any weapon combination anytime you want.

I started 2H Hammer in slot1 and Greatsword in slot2
Then gone for Dual Axes in slot1 and 2H hammer in slot2
I'm now Sword+Mace in slot1 and Greatsword in slot2

Tonight i'm gonna try Mace+shield for my slot1...always wanted to try Shield Bashing in faces :p

on the warrior greatsword IMO is the clear winner, spec for crit, faceroll.
2 axes can be fun but greatswords damage output is so much better, maces technically hit harder but have worse skills

Yeah I feel they need to nerf the GS damage output a bit, it just goes does too much most of the time :p I'm making my warrior a pure Rifle user later but for right now, nothing can beat the GS damage.

In order to get the skills, you just click the upper corner of each respective numeral box and it will allow you to select from a matrix of your available skills. You cannot be in combat, or the game cannot think you are in combat.

so i played with rifle spec and ive played with GS.

As you guys know my character is the demon queen of TPAD!
Ok i offically declare her the demon queen of TPAD because she now has horns with full exotic gear.

But nothing beats the DPS of a greatsword and HB when it hits.
If it doesnt hit, then your standing in one place swinging and missing while looking like a fool.

In PVP its fail... only the noobs will sit there while u HB.
Most guys will dodge roll out of it after 1 or 2 hits.

Anyhow dont nerf my GS.
It has a lot of handicaps if u know about the skill in detail.
And warriors already got eviscerate nerfed to hell.

Eviscerate used to make up for HB.
I used to pop 28k crits in PVP one shotted everything from gaurdian down to even a necro.

IF anything the necro is next up for a nerf.
That worm summon i heard is glitched... and its possible to spam like 30 of them.
Ive seen a few necro's do that.. and the only counter for me was to kill the mobs up front b4 those worms got a chance to shoot them, which is what a warrior is good at..

Throw your sword... bamm.. 5-k dmg and then whirl another 4k damage.
Soon the elementalists and other classes are bitching you out cuz they cant get any loot from event spawns.

One of the reasons skills will be X'ed out underwater is that the game deems them inappropriate for underwater combat. Most of my thief skills are that way. Caltrops, traps, etc etc.
