I believe they stack. And yes, I would agree that they suck if they only work on gear lvl 79 or less. If they worked on lvl 80 gear, I can see people wanting them. It is just vanity item. You like the look of one piece of armor, but it is a real low level or bad stats for your build, so you use that transforming portion to make the armor with the lvl/stats you want look like one with the looks you want.

Case in point, I like the shoulder pieces I had at lvl 1 on my guardian (it has a nice aquamarine blue ankh/symbol on it). So I am keeping those around and at some point I will use one of those transforming potions to get that look back.

He's talking about the potions that transform your character temporarily into a monster.

The transmute stones, which is what you're thinking of, come in two varieties: Basic and Fine. The Basic ones work up to level 79 gear. The Fine ones work on all gear, and they do stack.

Ah, So that is what they are for. BTW, my post was about those wierd potions that turn you into animals. I haven't used the things that copy one weapon looks to another weapon's stats yet. I just don't really care too much about the cosmetic stuff (yet).

Depends. I know in a 1-15 I found level 43 drops on my lv 45. And sometimes I found lv 7-12 drops.

I think its a possibility of both.

yes, this does happen as you explore. It actually makes you want to go back and farm these areas from time to time, as you will still get rather decent gear even in the noob zones.

But the completion rewards for 100% zone are tied to the zone's level. Just like quest rewards.

Sell it. At 376 Artificer, a staff I make sells for around 2s 30c, but only salvages into 1 Hard Wood. I haven't checked the TP, but I imagine I could buy more than 1 Hard Wood with 2s 30c.

Well remember that the context he was talking about was for someone who was just starting out (i.e. he was asking how you even get new crafting recipes). At 376, you are no longer starting out...

I really don't get why the game asked me to choose what piece of armor is "distinctive" about my character when after character creation I have never once found another one like it. I did keep the item since I'll likely transmute it when I reach level 80, but it's beyond silly that I should have to do that. The item should have been included in random loot tables based on the decision the player makes.

i think for low level items is at your discretion--Hak makes a good point that the value of salvaging those items is quite minimal--you tend to get one or two pieces of wood out of it, which even in low level items, often have less market value than selling the intact item to a vendor for ~30c. (depends on item--it's probably best to salvage cloth items as a single jute scrap is invariably worth more than a level 15 or even 20 cloth piece).

I think one rule of thumb for people is to salvage everything below 40c value--to a certain point. It all depends, of course, on whether or not you need mats for salvage, or if you are going to get more valuable mats from salvage, regardless of personal need.

...and especially for low levels, you need to keep up that 10s for the first trait book.

the "distinct" item is simply a "clever" way of attributing a particular character trait, and thus puts you on one of several possible storylines for that character.

So, you will start with the item (usually), but the presence of the item is insignificant as it's simply used as a metaphorical tool for character and story structure.

Any sales data for this game? I'm wondering just how many units they moved for them to pull digital downloads.

I read something like 400K concurrent users during the pre-launch and 1 million pre-orders. Doesn't quite seem like enough to warrant ceasing sales, so I'd have to imagine it went up significantly after launch?

Also, I don't actually own the game, so what microtransactions are they offering to generate long term revenue?

Cash can buy you Gems, but you can also exchange in-game money if you choose to so you're never forced to use cash if you just play a decent amount. These will buy you XP boosts, some skins for your armor, some town clothes, extra bag slots for your character, character and bank slots for your account, etc.

Also sent you an invite thestrangebrew, check your guild tab for the invite.

I got a puzzle for you guys..i'm clueless about this bug i've got. My mouse cursor randomly disappears in game, seemingly happens when lots if going on screen at once. I've tried 2 different mice so far, and get same thing. I have to move mouse around for it to show back up. One is the razer naga MMO and the logitech G400.

Anyone else hear of such a thing? I have no clue what to even test for this. Other games works fine.

My sound has cut out twice when there were 50+ players in one area. Both times were in the Harathi Hinterlands (big surprise), and it hasn't happened since.

As far as your mouse though, I'd consider it a bug for now. The game definitely struggles when there's an insane amount of players in one area.

i've had my mouse cursor disappear a few times in other games. I believe it has happened a few times in GW2, but I'm a bit used to it elsewhere, so I ignor it :\

Also, I realized earlier today that we haven't been popping any of our guild banners--particularly the PvP influence or PvE karma banners. I'm not around today and will only be on later in the morning--but was wondering if Dies is on, or one of the officers, can pop a few so that guildies playing tomorrow can get a nice XP/influence boost. Karma...whatever.

As I understand it, build members will need to actively touch the banner, so wherever it is activated (any officer should be able to do this), people will have to meet to get the bonus. I hope to be on by noon, so if no one has gotten around to it, I'll poll guild chat and see if anyone has interest in activating some boosts tomorrow (some have 4 hour duration--the PvP boosts have 24 hour, I believe)

I had my mouse cursor "disappear", but I thought it was just my eyes couldnt pick out the cursor from within the mess of 50+ other characters in the middle of a huge fight.

Just picked up the game. Started out with a Human Elementalist. It really does feel like everyone for themselves as in a lack or groups and parties.

Still unsure if I will stick to Ele though or try out Mesmar. By the way, it's quite annoying how almost every single name is taken in the game already! And I'm horrible with naming, I will sit on the screen for 10 minutes just trying to find one (just a single name, no first/last).

Anyway, I'm still trying to see how I like the game. It seems like a pretty standard mix of MMOs minus the fees. Fun yet more of the same. But as it was between this or BL2, I felt this would be the better choice as BL2 seems like a carbon copy of BL1 with a few updates.

Man when you start getting into like level 50+ areas the number of events that work plummet lol.

Tried Catacombs and Caudecus' Manor over the weekend, neither were too bad and the latter seems actually a pretty good XP farm since you can get 20k per story mode clear and it takes like 10 minutes practically. Catacombs not even remotely worth the time however. Not particularly impressed with any of the bossfights though as the whole 'thing' for them tends to be zerg until you get oneshot, get revived, and repeat.

Some of the story quests are pretty cool too once you get later in the game though, I get the impression all stories 'converge' around the Claw Island event and progress fairly uniformly from there, but there's been some good ones since then. Wearing a golem suit and venturing into the heart of a volcano was actually sweet.

CM is exception. It has one boss that poses some kind of threat, but not comparable to other dungeons' "griefers".
Zerging works only if there are people in the group who carry those who die a lot. There has to be someone who stays alive long enough for you to run from waypoint.
Try AC explorable. It has three paths. The second one is the easiest.

Changed my main again. I'm now rolling a mesmur after having my thief butt slammed in wvwvw.

Mesmer is pretty fun, it actaully uses illusions like how I wanted my necro to use pets so I'm happy there. Greatsword is all around good, and I'm using a scepter/sword which gives me 2 block/counters which I like.

Let's see how long this class lasts :D
