Trading Post is currently broken and eating silver. Don't try to buy or sell until they fix it.

go smash shit in the face?
thats how im doing it on my warrior

seems things speed up once you get out of the starting 1-15 zone

unfortunately, guardians aren't the smashy type :|

my advice for guardian: stand around and cast buffs until stuff dies? :p

actually, I have no idea how Guardian plays. But Kell, are you asking how to level in general, or how to spec your guardian as you level? I wouldn't worry too much about speccing, as most people should be able to find any play style they like with their class. I've heard people say that guardian is great for fire/condition damage, but I'm sure there's other routes to go. Damage probably isn't that great, but Guardians have, I think, unequaled use in party support and overall survivability. My thought as a guardian would be to try and make myself that best type of support/tanky class I can be.

This. The guardian in my AC run was always the hardest one for enemies to kill, and would "control" the enemies when he could so my face didnt get smashed in as often.

I've been using greatsword/sword+torch on my guardian and it's been working really well so far, seems to dish out good damage. I also use the big AOE fire skill and the signet that increases power (judgement I think?). One thing I like to do is lay down the AOE fire, use the fifth greatsword skill (the one that pulls in multiple guys around you), and then start doing the spin skill. It's pretty devastating and you can dish out massive damage to 4-5 guys that way.

i think the guardian is a pretty cool class. they have some good damage and protection.

it's one of my highest level characters right now (10).

I think my issue is that I am still in the 1-15 area(s) with him and it just slow going leveling. He really can take a lot of damage which I like so much more so over the elemental I have (who really can't do anything solo if it involved pulling more than 1 guy that has ranged attacks, otherwise he is simply dead, but against things without range he works pretty well as long as there is some room to run).

My guardian however can pull some mobs that are 4 or 5 levels above him and tank it with all his healing/blocking/movement control skills. I am still trying to figure out what weapons I want to use which affects what skills to pick. Group wise, I think mace/shield+2h staff might be the way to go. The mace's 1-2-3 combo ends with healing allies nearby and the shield allows me to give everyone a protection -33% damage buff+completely block the next hit, and the staff allows me to make a wall on the ground that monsters can not pass as well as do some pretty good AoE damage with the basic attack, and a speed buff as well.

So we had fun on that CM Explore run last night. Let's do one of the other two again tonight. Say 8pm PST?

Any elementalists out there figure out which elite skill is most worthwhile? Greatsword and Tornado seem decent, not sure which of the two is the better one to keep equiped most of the time...

I was using that one for a while, seems like the greatsword does so much damage though, but puts you right in the middle of the horde...

I like using the fire elemental mainly, at least for pve. It can tank pretty well and is a great way to suck up some damage and dish out some as well being the highest dps of the 4 elements. In pve/wvwvw they are all pretty good depending on which one you use when. It is probably the best glyph our profession has in all honesty.

I dunno, I switch between the Elemental, the Druid thing, and the Tornado.

The Elemental is the most versatile, but the Druid gives regeneration and takes debuffs off you which can make a hard fight much easier (when some boss is fearing/burning/poisoning you). The tornado is devastating in close quarters, and funny as hell in PVP when you start one up in the midst of 10 enemies; it also can chain-knockdown, and if I figure out how to do that consistently, I'll use it alot more.
