Same here. It is a very good joystick. I also bought and installed a 2nd 6870 for BF3. Can't wait.

Battlelog is up.
Neat. I don't see a thing for adding a new soldier though.

Also, anyone figured out how to get the Beta off their Origin page? The uninstall just took me to the Windows uninstall thing, which worked... but didn't remove it from Origin.

Anyone seen the commo rose? Screenshots I've seen show that it has things like go go go, need pickup etc but apparently requests for ammo and medic aren't there. Either that functionality is missing or automatic(relevant classes see you on minimap when low on health/ammo) OR they've put it on social button type functionality.

I haven't seen screens of the orders rose either, so don't know if we get to issue freestyle orders or if you can only order your squad to flags/mcoms.

Here is your PC Commo Rose:

SgCYL.jpg

I started to ask what was the difference, then I saw that Need Pickup changed to Get In.

I'm guessing no orders rose then and we have social button function only for orders, judging from the way flag E looks while the sight is pointed at it?

Better than nothing but...you know, it's good to be able to order your squad to a non-flag waypoint...ie, to clear out a camping tank, a nest of camping snipers, etc.

I guess logging in to Battlelog, is not the same as unlocking the game.

So, are you guys saying that as of now, all US players are free to play?
Or, are the only people playing, those that did the Korean VPN thing?

I tried logging into the server for the hell of it, and couldn't get in. Still does the release date check...

gotta use a proxy to a region that is unlocked

jacked the enemy mobile AA on a caspian border server, dude who was in it (he got out to repair it) was raging hard

vehicle unlocks seem to come way faster

got the first 3 mobile AA unlocks after just a couple heli kills

Origin is keeping track of all the games you are licensed for, whether they are installed or not, just like Steam. Eventually Origin will get a "hide" function, but what I did was change the view to show favorites, then pick the games you want to display.

You can login to Battlelog to setup your new profile, but the game won't unlock for another 11 hrs. I think you have to login and accept the EA policy before you can be searched for as well, or the search function for friends isn't working one of the two.

Looks like the VPN thing. Sad that people are willing to do that for a head start.

in case you need a working vpn for korea
210.107.100.251:8080
control panel -> internet settings -> connections -> lan settings
put it in the proxy, reload origin activate, disable proxy and play

I'm sorry that some seem to have a problem with it, but I don't really care that a global company decides to use arbitrary time locks when digital distribution is the primary method of gaming these days

Someone who's playing want to verify the keybindings and mouse button binding and joystick button/axis bindings work correctly? Battlelog forums have conflicting reports of them working/not working, or the joystick interfering with the mouse buttons.

[DICE] Mikael Kalms - Server Administrator's manual

Hi all,

the first draft of the server administrator's manual is now available to the world here: http://static.cdn.ea.com/dice/u/f/bf...inistrator.zip

Some highlights:
- Remote admin protocol spec included
- lists of all maps
- lists of all gamemodes (and all maps can be used in all gamemodes)
- list of gamemode-affecting settings in the admin manual
- you can mix gamemodes in the maplist
- For BF3 PC, Normal / Hardcore / Infantry Only are umbrella names for a specific group of settings; details in the server log
- there is a section in the manual which describes how changing server settings affect filters and Quickmatch on Battlelog
- unranked mode is, well, "nearly working" so for the first few days after launch all servers will run ranked
- in ranked mode you can control all settings (but at some point we will enforce PB on, game-password off .. or similar)

One thing which requires some extra elaboration is player counts, gamemodes, and how those things work together.

When you rent a server from an RSP, you rent a certain number of slots. The RSP controls the max number of players on your server.

In addition, you can temporarily lower the number of slots below the RSP-enforced setting through a remote admin command.

Now. There is currently no mechanism that enforces that a given gamemode can have at most a given number of players... so you can in theory run any gamemode with up to 64 players.
Some game modes (such as Squad Rush) will probably not work very well if you set the limit higher than intended. Most will function. Some will become less playable because the matches get a bit unbalanced. But for instance running Team Deathmatch with a lot of players should not be a problem.

I will probably not be able to answer questions in this thread in a timely manner. However, things that you ask about here are things that we will try to cover in documentation updates.

Re: Bolded part - It's the wild-wild west for the first few days. Any setting work for Ranked play!
