Don't confuse these benchmarks with the old ones.

PCGamesHardware.com - Battlefield 3: 11 Radeon and GeForce graphics cards tested

Battlefield 3 will be released tomorrow on EA's download platform Origin. Which graphics card offers the best performance? Is the most technologically advanced and best game of the year, even the most challenging?

Battlefield 3 for PC is technology maxed out: the possibilities of DirectX 11 are used consistently not only to offer great Fps but also to offer graphics you haven't seen before in PC gaming. We have measured up to 30 percent Fps increase from DX10 to DX11 - with the same graphics quality! If you would like to play Battlefield 3 without hickups with all details as well as anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, you really need a powerful graphics card.

For our graphics card benchmarks, we have included the first "real" mission of the BF3 single player campaign. We use "Operation Sword Breaker" and the benchmark consists of a 20 second confrontation with the troops of your enemies. You see many particle effects (fire, smoke), dynamic AI and numerous physical effects caused by explosions. This is for sure a stress test but we wanted to show a worst case scenerio. For the tests we use the drivers that were released by AMD and Nvidia for Battlefield 3: Catalyst Preview 11.10 V3 and the Geforce 285.38 (some benchmarks are done with the newer one, GeForce 285.62).

Battlefield 3 is very graphics-heavy, because there are tons of calculations per pixel - at least at maximum details. The frame rate in the usual resolutions relies heavily on your graphics card. For full details, including 4x MSAA at 1920 x 1080, you should at least have a 250 dollar graphics card in your computer. If you use FXAA, AMD's Radeon HD 6870 and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 560 offer playable frame rates. Owner of a DX10 graphics card have to live with lower frame rates and "medium" ground-level details. If you use a Geforce 8, 9 and 200, you encounter micro stuttering-like hickups.

Were you in the beta? (age check, you have to be 17 or 18)
Did you receive BF3 and put your retail key in Origin?
Did you change your Origin account name recently?

I started to ask what was the difference, then I saw that Need Pickup changed to Get In.

I'm guessing no orders rose then and we have social button function only for orders, judging from the way flag E looks while the sight is pointed at it?

Better than nothing but...you know, it's good to be able to order your squad to a non-flag waypoint...ie, to clear out a camping tank, a nest of camping snipers, etc.

twitter.com/Thylander: "We are working on making the commo rose better. Orders and requests etc. No date though"

Yay I'm in the platoon! How do you change the profile picture? All I get is default soldiers.

Click Profile on top, then Edit Profile under picture. At the top of the Edit Profile screen is an option for a Gravatar e-mail. There is a link to sign up there. That site lets you define the picture to use. After doing your setup on Gravatar, put the Gravatar e-mail address in your profile on Battlelog.

The VPN workaround is VERY tempting, but I must resist. Should probably take the dog for a walk now that the rain has stopped, keep my mind off trying BF3 early...
