unlimted run seems a little.....iffy spotting has its place, espeicially since VOIP never got working and there is no commander![]()
3d spotting IMO fixed alot of broken issues, like no voip, and that people are assholes and half your team wouldnt talk to you anyways. even with squyad viop. great, I can tell my squad there is someone at this location how do we tell anyone else? there is no commander or comm officer to relay info and it sorta bandaided that.
First on the run speed, in BF2 you run 20 yards and your stamina is gone. Really. I'm not saying it has to be unlimited, but I would rather just have it unlimited like BC2 than split hairs about exactly how much stamina there should be. Besides, you do sprint a little slower in BC2 than BF2, that makes up for it. And BC2 was in small maps, and even with unlimited sprint it wasn't exactly a luxurious way to travel. BF3 will get back to large maps. Vehicles are still much faster than sprinting, so it's not unbalanced.
On spotting, first, I note that you say "spotting" has its place. I'm only against "3D spotting", not "spotting"; 2D minimap spotting is the best. It tells you roughly where someone is but you must find them with your own 2 eyes to take the shot, there is no Shoot Here triangle. Would you be OK with working VOIP and a nice 2D spotting system?
By the way, I consider BF3 not having reliable VOIP to be an apocalyptic scenario. I'm not sure why they were stupid about it in BC2 but I'm so sure they won't be that stupid for BF3 that I don't worry about it. If I actually thought it was a problem I'd spend just as much time referencing working VOIP as 3D spotting. VOIP is THAT important.
The mini-map also needs a grid. It's tough calling out spots on the maps to random people. A grid would narrow down the area you're talking about.
I'm all for that. A more detailed and grid-referenced minimap and a more detailed full size map that shows elevation data better too. In fact, you should be able to hold your mouse over spots on the map or minimap and it will show you their distance from you and their elevation. They can show ALL of that on 2D. Just please no Shoot Here Triangle.

17:53 of the most useless graphically oriented info yet. Just about the only new thing confirmed is Rush, and it's not like we had any real doubts about Rush being in or not.
I'm bumping this because contrary to maniacalpha's mini review, there is tons of new footage and screenshots to be seen here.
A must watch for any BF3 fan!
maniacalpha, how did you like the Karkand "Pre-Alpha Test Footage"?

Has anyone from DICE talked about or hinted at Time of Day (ToD) and dynamic weather in BF3?
Dynamic weather would make game play so much more interesting and increase replay value tremendously. Imagine blasting fools in torrential rains and running through puddles while trying to stay with your squad and making sure you can spot your enemies! It would make for such exciting game play because visibility would be reduced, sound effects would change, and your whole strategy would change (if you play together as a squad).
Time of Day is another thing that would make BF3 multiplayer so much more interesting. Imagine playing the same maps at night or on a cloudy/stormy day! Snow storms would make multiplayer intense as well.
Both ToD and DW would make BF3 a lot more interesting and gamers playing for much longer IMO. I really hope they put those two features in BF3.
LOL, I don't know how anyone figured that out, but man, it's frickin' sweet!
