I was practicing flying in BF2 for the last week or so. I thought I had it figured out, so yesterday I hopped into a chopper and proceeded to flip over and crash. Controls are inverted, but the menu for flight controls says normal.

This confused me as well!

I *think* the javelin does both(it does in real life) I hope to unlock it tonight

What's annoying is there's no way to know if a rocket launcher is for vehicles only, for land or for air. At least I haven't been able to figure it out.

Its so annoying having shitty pilots hog the jets. Im actually getting much better with them.

At first I was using the stealth upgrade but the proximity mini map is too amazing to give up. Gives the direction and position of all other vehicles near by. I took out multiple jets just because I could see which way they were turning.

Rocket pods are pretty weak so heat seeking missiles are still better for now.

Flares are given, cant give those up at all.

Im trying to think if getting a joystick would really help. I feel like m/kb is working pretty well for me right now. Although i cant fly choppers for shit.

I was ok with choppers in BC2 using my joystick, but haven't hooked it up yet for BF3. I tried controlling a helicopter with a mouse last night, and I found it completely impossible (and quickly killed both myself and my ATOT teammate). I'd say that if you want to fly choppers, get a joystick.

By default they're supposed to be inverted, so that IS normal...weird, I know.

I actually like my Razer Naga MMO for this game, very handy. Use buttons on side, and use sensitivity buttons mapped for tanks/heli/infantry.

Also, the vehicle with the Gatling gun on top, forget name, USE THAT if you want to rank up fast. I kid you not, its the Jack of all trades thing in game, it takes out tanks faster than RPGs, you can actually go around tanks so they can't even hit you yet still hit them non-stop.

The best part is you can tear up infantray/heli, even planes with it with ease.

I got time to play for 30min, went 20-0 with just that :D Not sure if its bugged or what, but when i can take out 4 tanks before i have to leave with that seems pretty OP :D

That vehicle you speak of is the AA vehicle. The best part is that if you are laying down direct fire on a tank, they're mostly blinded by the dust your bullets kick up. It's kinda like that Company of Heroes ability the Brits have to disable and slow tanks down, heh.

Dice is right when they say rush wasn't designed for 64 players. It's not fun at all. It is very fun with 32 however..

I can't tell from the pictures, but does it have a dpi switcher that's easily accessible? I find myself changing the dpi on the fly depending on situation.

not like the logitech mice. you can assign dpi settings to any of the buttons, but there are no dedicated dpi buttons. there is a button on the bottom of the mouse that switches profiles "on-the-fly" though its not exactly something you can easily do in the heat of battle. i just keep a single dpi setting so it wasnt a big deal for me to move from my logitech with the dedicated buttons to one without. if you dont use the thumb buttons, those can be dpi buttons, otherwise, this might not be the mouse for you.

So nobody on the ATOT server? =( Sad face is sad.
At some point we have to load it really full. Then people will go there by quickmatch and it will stay full... It might actually be better to start out as a 32 slot server and move to 48 after it's been full a day or two.

Ok I need help... why are my Freind/foe markers seem to be off and on...
same match same server at times I can see them all and others they are completely off..
this is making it very hard for me to play well.

I just cannot tell who is who without them...
wonder if its a Crossfire problem..

it was pretty full late last night we started with a few people and by midnight it was pretty booming.

It was up to ~25 people at one point, I think, but never went up past 40 where it's likely to report as full enough to the quickmatch.

Stupid question (sorry if I missed it here): where's "Return to Karkand" ? When I check it on the server list, nothing shows up. I read a while back that this was supposed to be available at launch

Well after playing a couple nights, I have to say that I officially love this game. I am also officially going to eat my words: I am amazed by how much more polished the final product is over the beta. Given DICE's past, my hopes were nill... but they pulled it off. It's beautiful, it runs extraordinarily well (i5 750 stock, 8GB RAM, HD 5870, Ultra settings, no AA, 1080), hit detection is as good as any game on the shelf (DRASTIC improvement over BC2 and BF2), sound is the best bar none, and it's just a ton of motherfscking fun!

I'm thinking that map w/ the aircraft carrier might be doable w/ 64p rush. It's still kinda OTT considering you're going after just 2 objectives, but it's big and has a ton of vehicles so it could work...

We'll see if it changes with B2K but as of right now I'm thinking BF3 is fun but only insofar as chaotic clusterfucking is fun. Even in rounds where I come out good, like 15-6, it feels like I was 0-20.
