It's making the news and it has lots of things that interest everyone in this country.
You're a political neophyte if you think this isn't resonating around the country. How many people do you know that don't like and respect Canada? Obama slapped them in the face with this decision. This project would provide the U.S. with more oil, more jobs, more energy security at a very, very small price. Only a blindly partisan Democrat ass kisser wouldn't see how cynically political this move was by Obama.
Canadians, I'm sure, understand that Repubs forced the issue for attempted political gain, just as they forced the debt ceiling fracas which resulted in a downgrade of US govt securities. They realize that Obama would reject the pipeline when forced into a corner. It's essentially Repubs who have pushed the pipeline further into the future by their own actions, trying to paint Obama in a bad light. They knew it full well all along, so it's not like they're really pushing for the pipeline in a reasonable fashion- they'd rather sacrifice it on the altar of faux outrage they have created.
They're desperate to paint Obama as a "Job Destroyer" even as they already destroyed millions of jobs & attempt to destroy even more jobs by orders of magnitude than this pipeline would ever create. This won't even make a dent in the massive unemployment left behind by the collapse of the greatest Repub sponsored credit bubble in the history of finance. Nor would it be a pimple on the ass of the massive unemployment their "smaller govt" plans would create.
It's not like this country will obtain more oil out of the deal, anyway, given that it's slated for export, or that helping Canadians deplete their reserves faster will increase our energy security, either.
Resonate? Only in the Right Wing Echo Chamber.
