How can it be any other way? As infectious as measles is DV. There are states where the kids (as of a few weeks ago) didn't require masks for returning students. They'll bring the virus home to the families, who will catch it, vaxxed or not vaxxed. It will likely be a national (and international) wild fire of infection.

It was last week that my kids' school district announced that masks were OPTIONAL. Whoever made that decision should be fired immediately from their post for the sake of being stupid....but I assume that's why they work in education to start with and not healthcare.

CDC changed their indoor mask guidance last week, we had a few kids end up in the ICU in our town the past few days and FINALLY, last night they reversed course and are now saying masks are going to be REQUIRED. I was pretty pissed that they wouldn't use common sense considering how well things were handled last year.

I get it though....it's a very polarizing issue when people don't want to conform.

Funny how easy it is to tell when speaking to a country-bumpkin who has never actually been to NYC.

Fact is that somewhere in NYC you'll potentially encounter a piece of pretty much everything that exists in terms of human society BUT that includes the good and the bad. (IME more good than bad)

I've been a lot of places and despite what you hear the majority of New Yorkers are some of the kindest/coolest people you'll ever meet. Just keep in mind as in nature the predators represent a very small % of population BUT THEY ARE skulking about!

It has no doubt ... same where I am in New Haven. There are a lot of desperate folks out there right now and over the next couple months I predict it gets worse.

Having said that I've personally seen zero violent crime (famous last words?) ... I DID however get paid parking for both the Mets games I went to this summer so far which for me is unheard of. I was concerned about catalytic converter theft not being mugged.

However I worked in NYC DURING the 80's/early 90's and you are correct its nothing compared to the way it was back then. We had to have THREE guys to take a cart of PC/electronics parts across 32ed street and another watching the truck to avoid being robbed no exaggeration. (for example)

Got my shots in the first vaccine release and am worried. I want a booster. At work people are becoming increasingly balky about being required to mask & many of them get pretty nasty. Visitors get angry being asked to show proof of vaccination.

For God’s sake this is a hospital 😢!

Meantime, I haven’t been in a store, restaurant or movie since this started. I go to work & cancer treatment. I live like a prisoner 😢 Between cancer & Covid I am getting weary and depressed, I feel my compassion level slipping 😢 Oh & I am sick of my overly long, graying Covid hair 😢

I'm reading quite a bit about people with less than perfect immune systems going to get 3rd shots on their own. A lot of places don't check the state registry before administering the shot. The FDA seems likely to eventually recommend this eventually or once they give full approval doctors will likely go off label and give them to that group.

I'm not a conformist at all but when it comes to health care, I'm all for the science. I have never been anti-masking concerning covid-19.

There's no room for polarization when it comes to this pandemic. The public should not tolerate it. We need people to get angry and react against the polarization of this. "People of influence," especially, obviously, need to speak up. Some have, and it gladdens me, but not enough have... everybody should speak up who knows shit from Shinola about this.

I've been watching the Olympics. You see A LOT OF MASKS! That is good. These are some of the healthiest people anyone will ever see anywhere and they are masking up, protecting themselves and others.

Priority one now right now is increasing the vaccination rates, whatever it takes to make that happen ASAP and prodigiously.

Most adults are now vaccinated. It's the kids that's the problem. Many parents don't want to vaccinate their kids, and I understand their concern. Statically, kids have really low chance of dying from covid even if they get it. So while it's smart for anyone over 18 to get covid shot, the data is not convincing for younger kids.

I'm getting a bit tired of the 'Vaccine (residents w/ at least 1 dose'. How many are fully vaccinated. That's what I really care about. We need, based on recent studies, an 80%+ fully vaccinated rate to prevent these new variants from spreading so rapidly in the population (and maybe even stopping it in it's tracks).

Well, it is what it is. I'm not going to stress over people who don't want to be vaccinated. If they want to risk it, that's their choice. I got the vaccine so I wouldn't have to worry about dying if I somehow got covid. Nothing I have read so far gives me any concern I will die from covid if I'm vaccinated, and I'm not like 70-80 years old. Old people die from covid. I'm not old, and I'm vaccinated. I like my chances. I'll let others worry about themselves.

Young people die from covid too, some of them without at risk conditions. AFAIK, nobody is safe from it. A lot depends on viral dose. That's one reason to take masking seriously. And, of course, there's more to fear from covid than death. The undead are often chronically impaired.

Problem is stressed or not even if we don't get sick we could easily still end up getting screwed in some way by these morons free-dumb vaccinated or not.

I'm also tired of my being responsible and covering for a bunch of stupid people who don't deserve it so there we completely agree. NOT happy about it though.

I'm pissed because the free-dumb anti-vaxxers are fucking up MY LIFE. They are prolonging the pandemic and making it possible (probable) for further mutations to occur.
