I believe it is for real. They had to pack the dead into a freezer truck because they ran out of room.

That's one of 85 trucks FEMA is sending, apparently:

Looks like it doubles the city's morgue capacity from 3,500 to 7,000.

What a horrible problem to have to deal with :cry:

Nice she's moved on from licking doughnuts.

I dont waste time following the daily foibles of "famous" people. So I had to google that:

Granted she was a teen at the time and I did lots of stupid things when I was a teen (licking donuts and not buying them was not one of them), but still this had to be seen to be believed.

This too is the reason I never buy anything that is not behind glass. Even then I look for things like flies in the display case. I've seen them licking things too. Ewww!

@Kaido

They can't just burn the bodies as they pile up. Unlike some other country we know.

@FelixDeCat

She's done other things I'm sure. It's one of the more-infamous examples though.

Guess another month here, governor just issued a stay-at-home directive through April 30th. With exceptions of essential services, you know like hair and nail salons and golf courses.

I think the company I'm at could have been working this whole time but there's a large portion of it that's based in California so they suspended things for us back when they started their shelter in place policy.

Someone is going to have to start coming up with better policies to help some business open back up without significantly increasing risk of spreading Covid-19. It would help if we could get accurate testing. If all anyone did was travel to/from work with maybe stops for fuel or food, then that would not be a huge risk if everyone were tested from end to end.
Trump was asked about testing a day or two ago. His response was that he hadn't heard "testing" for a few weeks.

I rarely buy anything I see behind a display case.

I'm down to my last two Costco bagels. I'm not going to Costco to get more any time soon! Gonna make a dozen bagels in a few days. I make the world's best bagels!

Anyone who asks Trump about this matter is incredibly stupid. He only uses the constant exposure to draw attention to himself. He can't test for Covid-19, nor can his orders to others affect meaningful change. First someone needs to actually produce tests, which is generally the responsibility of labs around our country. Then the FDA has to actually approve of the tests. The FDA has been very slow to approve anything, especially test kits imported from other countries. It does not help that many of the test kits used in China are apparently up to 50% inaccurate. We are not the only ones with problems wrt testing.

I asked her why they are dragging in people (offloaded) and her reply was "probably money." Census count is everything in that business. Smart gal.

Why wouldn't they take patients? They should just stay in acute care hospitals when they no longer require acute care? That would be weird (and dangerous). May be a little more complicated than "probably money," but I suppose that's what you're left with if you don't want to think.

It's pretty clear we need some kind of full-on hazmat suits equivalent for an EVA suit that astronauts wear.
The data on providers getting sick when PROPERLY using APPROPRIATE PPE is actually very reassuring. Meaning when they have adequate resources and don/doff correctly in the right circumstances. Unfortunately, resources are scare in some places and the process is by no means error free in stressful situations. Not to mention the "hot zones" are now areas of sustained community spread meaning that we're likely to get it from the community as well.

Hair salons are definitely closed here. Wonder why they have an exception there. Hair styling is definitely not an essential service.

I watched something with a friend and it was a video with some dude talking about how advil and other medication can make the virus worst? I need to find it but it was a eye opener. Its been spread as fud but idk this video was SUPER convincing. I hardly fall for anything like this. It was not Alex Jones btw.

It's been talked about a lot and debunked, but you really don't want to take anything that reduces your fever unless it's dangerously high. Fever activates the immune system and studies have shown that you lengthen the term of the illness when you needlessly knock down your fever. Tylenol/paracetamol is particularly good at lowering fever so avoid those if you have to take something.

It's possible although I haven't look around for it. ACE inhibitors, a group of medications used for high blood pressure have been identified as problematic, however, there's some uncertainty in the literature.
