Ehm .. this caught my eye

"A supervisor urged surgeons at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Manhattan to volunteer for the front lines because half the intensive-care staff had already been sickened by coronavirus. "

It may not be too surprising given they are surrounded by it constantly, however that is still a different number from 80/20.
IIRC 14% of the Covid-19 cases in Spain are health workers.

It's pretty clear we need some kind of full-on hazmat suits equivalent for an EVA suit that astronauts wear.
Well, NASA swooped in like a boss and used their prototype next-gen space suit to contain Japan's rogue/uncontained chemical weapon problem that turned poor Nobuo into a biological weapon (he had the flu and it interacted with his flu medication in an unexpected way to turn him into a "stink bomb"):
...well, until Nobuo unknowingly gassed high-ranking officials from both governments in his attempt to complete his mission and deliver top-secret documents.

Man, I love Katsuhio Otomo's "Memories" so much. :) Same guy who did Akira.

So basically every teenager ever. Have you ever been a teenager? lol
Are you really LOL? o_O

I was a teenager and TBH I did not act and feel so entitled. I was pretty damn serious. I was no party animal. I am not laughing at what I see with those kids.

man that looks intriguing... i'd watch it, but i know that if i did everyone would immediately start calling me a weeaboo

a college buddy of mine tried to get me to watch anime for years and explained a lot of them to me

i still think i have some of our funniest AIM dumps laying around on this hard drive

time to go excavating into the early 2000s...

Friends in Louisiana say the order to stay home will last at least until end of April. Restaurants, bars, casinos, etc. will be in a world of hurt.

"Life in Louisiana will not begin to return to normal for at least another month, as Gov. John Bel Edwards said he is extending the state’s stay-at-home order involving harsh restrictions to limit face-to-face contact until at least April 30, in line with similar guidance from the White House."

Like the Akira movie, it was a large-budget theatrical release as a collaboration with two other directors (each contributed a short film to the movie) and definitely not your typical anime/weeaboo fare. If they rag you about it, just say you've been into Katsuhiro Otomo since Akira... before anime was popular in the west. Get some hipster cred. ;) That's how it went for me at least.

The BD is ridiculously expensive though.

Edit: LOL! First comment on the Memories: Stink Bomb clip is "Who's here because of coronavirus?" ;)

In other news, the UK is working on a cheap prototype of ventilator right now. It is cheap, about $100 EU, and it quick to make, about 5,000 can be made within a week. <Crossing fingers >

And what with a bunch of individuals packed like sardines to watch the US Navy hospital ship arrival in NY? Goodness, so much for social distance.

Good grief. Why that long?
No clue but I'm guessing most states are going to end up going around that time as well. But not sure why they would lock it into such a far away date already. MD is locked down as of 30 minutes ago but there is no end date.

Arizona goes into lock down tomorrow at 5pm until April 30th unless extended. The list of exemptions is voluminous.

More than 1 million Americans tested:

163k infected in the US. Just crossed 3,000 deaths in America, pretty horrible :( For reference, 9/11 directly killed 2,977 Americans.

The worst part is that you can't do much other than literally sit around at home & wait it out.

Don't you have to wear that daily to meet with your "high end" customers? :D
Wit, charm and sweet disposition are what I use...mostly.

There are always a few feckless crunts that need some special attention.

I'm finishing up my yearly pollen upper respiratory infection. Wonder if they will notice that I have this lingering cough? All over their living rooms. Pretty sure I'll mention it. Gotta be safe from the No Mo Wu Tang Flu.

Someone is going to have to start coming up with better policies to help some business open back up without significantly increasing risk of spreading Covid-19. It would help if we could get accurate testing. If all anyone did was travel to/from work with maybe stops for fuel or food, then that would not be a huge risk if everyone were tested from end to end.
