I went to asian mart tonight and bought $600 worth of groceries. Shit is hitting the fan. US is going same route as Italy, Spain, and France. I think they're going to close all retail stores except grocery stores and pharmacies. It's coming. And when that happens, you won't be able to buy the grocery you want. Prepare yourself.

I'm on my first shift so just catching up with email and such. Boss sent an email asking what kind of connectivity we have at home, they're also going around installing an Avaya softphone on our computers. So there is a chance they might start asking us to work from home.

Government raised the virus from low risk to serious and urging people to do more social distancing and avoid travel outside of Canada. So that could potentially mean working from home I imagine.

I have good supply of most things. But I wanted additional buffer now that I see where the world is possibly headed. I didn't go buy things like rice and other stuff people like you are buying and hoarding.

He's the OP.
i like how you never replied the direct quote about staying in your own country even with out the virus :)
good thing you came back to say more silly things about drinking wine, like alcohol will ever help your immune system, did you ever google zinc and these things called vitamins? u could use some of your free time with that.
Pretty sure he was just joking about alcohol... like the person he was quoting.

Makes you wonder how often they clean those machines... probably never or very rarely. I'm sure there's plenty of viruses and other pathogens on those hoping they get lucky. :p

I've seen them get wiped down by roving attendants but they are in such high use, its hard to keep up.

State of Washington closing all restaurants, bars, entertainment/recreational facilities statewide. Only grocery stores and pharmacy will stay open. Restaurants can only do takeout or delivery.

I'm afraid this is going to the norm across most of the US. This is why I went on my grocery run tonight.

Just looking on FB lots of stuff in my city starting to anounce that they will close for the time being, gyms, karate clubs etc. I think it's good to see them being diligent.

Heard the LCBO will be closing but have not seen anything official. Bet people will be in panic over that one lol.

Good article for anyone still writing off COVID-19 as "just a bad flu":

So many issues at play. For starters, getting the test itself has been difficult:

An infectious disease doctor then spoke with the couple and said Mark was a candidate to receive one of the COVID-19 tests that have been so difficult to get, even for patients sick with fever and other symptoms of the disease.

It can really hit super-hard:

Heaven Frilot said the days since then have been a blur. Stricken with both COVID-19 and double pneumonia, Mark Frilot is in critical care and isolation. He consented to being given a paralytic drug, sedated and put on a ventilator, she said.

Essentially, the machine is breathing for him so his lungs can rest, Heaven Frilot said Sunday.

Actually, flu can kill young, healthy people as well. Either by cytokine storm or coinfection.

Currently more than 25% of the cases in FL are people 40 or under.

:p

Yea, it's all good now. What about in 1 month? 3-6 months? Etc. This is uncharted territory.

People who are stocking their kitchens with crap foods: chips, soda, pizzas, hot dogs, candy, cookies, etc are FOOLS. When you get sick you want your immune system firing on all cylinders. 110%. You don't want it junked up with processed foods! Wtf people.

Also, if you smoke or have weight issues get that handled ASAP. Any underling issue like asthma will make this worse. Get good sleep, and if you can meditate to help with anxiety.

Because you'll destroy the economy and eventually cause even worse problems like riots.

Agreed, but we need to get creative. Waiting in a line at Walmart with other potential sick customers is a recipe for disaster. I have a Wawa in my area. They are a chain of convenience stores. I saw people waiting in long lines. People massed together waiting for food in a small area. People coughing, sneezing. The cashier was an older lady in her 60s. Wawa response is "we are here for the community." Yea, OK. One sick person who coughs and they are all infected. The infected go home and infect family members, etc. If someone has an underlining issue, or they have an old person at home they are in deep trouble.

Teaneck NJ confirmed 18 cases in one day. City is on lockdown. We need to do better IMO.

Stuff about to get serious here! Announcement at 1pm.

Rumour has it we are going into a lock down. All non essential business to shut down. I assume that will exclude ones that can work from home.

Either that, or it's that the border is closing.

Just rumours though. People talking on Reddit who heard from what they say is a reliable source.

Yeah, I think that we're probably going to get an announcement in Connecticut that all bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and "non essential" retail is getting shut down early this week.

NYC already closed their bars and restaurants, and the governor wouldn't want all of the sick partygoers to come here to celebrate St. Patty's Day instead.

Simple carbs and easy-to-digest processed foods can be a good thing when you are sick and getting basic nutrients is difficult. No reason to eat that crap leading up to it, of course.

He's the same guy who got shut down on ebay for selling the hundreds of masks he bought.
