on the subject of vitamin D3; my primary care physician recommended to take vitamin K2 with it ... as the work in conjunction with each other. In fact many Vit D softgels/drops have K2 combined to simply things

edited to add: been taking D3&K2 for a couple years and only had one minor headcold which only lasted a day and a half... before I supplemented with this I was averaging two 2-3 colds/ year (lasting anywhere from 3-7days each) It does seem like its has helped my immune system
Been reading a lot of reviews of products (mostly lozenges, zinc fortified, "homeopathic" and otherwise). By and large the people who buy and use them are very enthusiastic and the come off as anything but stupid. I've never been against them or poo pooed them, but never done them, AFAIK. But from here on out, I intend to always have quick access to zinc lozenges! Also, to take Vitamin D regularly.

And the rest of us declare WHO a complete waste of resources that has done nothing from day one.

Is that really true? I honestly don't know what WHO has being _doing_ so I can't judge on that score. I would say though that I've remained unimpressed by its public pronouncements, most of which have left me confused and/or skeptical (some of those guys seem to be a bit too effusive in praising the Chinese regime, for example).

Meanwhile, Italy (and probably, less openly, Iran) seems to be heading towards some sort of meltdown. And - unless the warmer weather has a real effect - I can't see any reason why the rest of Europe isn't going to go the same way within a month.

Seriously getting worried now.

"If I had COVID-19 I'd want to be treated in China."

Would that be the welded in your home "treatment" or the forced into a box truck and taken away "treatment?" ;)

Uh I think India just canceled all visas and prohibited its overseas residents from returning home.

They are good at blowing money on first class travel and 5 star hotels while taking kickbacks. Not much else.

Coronavirus is a lipid enveloped virus. There is a fat layer surrounding it. Soap breaks up the fat layer and kills it.

Is it actually borax or just powdered soap? Straight borax is a mild skin irritant, can't imagine washing with it. Might be a soap base mixed with some borax.

Science experiment: Just put a drop of oil in water then drop some dishsoap in, the oil will be repelled by the soap, if you mix it up the oil will be broken up. Do the same with your powder to see if it behaves the same way, if not, switch to plain soap.

If this the case then could you say a dishwashing liquid (i.e. Dawn which is known for its grease/oil cutting ability) would be a very effective hand sanitizer replacement
? I am sure it would be easy to find in stores that have long " sold out" of Purell type alcohol sanitizers

LOL is India trying to insinuate that they are clean and they don't want it getting in?

Because that would be funny.
Nation of what, 2 billion? and they have about 60 cases. They probably are trying to avoid becoming China 2.0 on this one. If they were smart they would have done it two weeks ago though.

People who didn't act sooner are only now thinking about travel restrictions. The US is also way behind and is just now considering limiting travel form Europe when for the last two weeks anybody coughing their lungs out off a transatlantic flight was waved through the border without so much as a temperature check.

Most detergents are great at sanitizing hands, just a pita to use if you aren't near a sink, hence the alcohol based sanitizers.

The Kirland branded D3 50mcg I bought says just D3, no Vit K. I am also taking Kirkland branded Mature Multi Vitamins, which contain Vitamin K, 30mg, which they indicate is 25% daily value. I suppose I might be light on Vitamin K. Have no understanding of Vit K, even less of Vit K2.

Regarding Vitamin K, I know there are multiple kinds and one of them improves clotting factors. That kind wasn't readily available at grocery stores, pharmacies, or department stores. I had to go to GNC for it when my dog ate rat poison back in 2011.

Trump and the feds dropped the ball on this. Our state leaders dropped the ball.

We need manadatory state wide testing ASAP. We don't even have enough kits to go out though. Cleaning and disinfecting buildings means nothing if they keep getting reinfected. When will we get it? Today, Trump said that it's all good and that this will be over with soon. He's insane. This is a natural ewmergeny that is going to have major implications for all. Our lives are going to change forever because of this virus.

Amtrak just said't they're basically f'd. Bookings down 50%. Cancellations up 300%. Huge revenue loss. Plans to cut service and seek government help.

The proposed cutting of the CDC budget for next year isn't good optics either :(

My company (national research lab) is already talking about shutting the whole facility of ~1500 people down. At the very least when I get back from work travel next week I get to stay home for a couple weeks. They’re also suggesting we stay and continue working here if we want. It’s Hawaii so there are worse places to be but I’ll still choose to go back to my outbreak-ridden state and hang out at home with my fiancee and dog (she’s already on wfh until further notice)

"fiancee" means M5, right?
