Which tells you there's something else going on, obviously. Maybe it's over 80% when they are so overwhelmed they can't give you the support required.
They discovered that flipping the person over or turning to the side is the best course of action, even if they have a ventilator.

I can see the need for legitimate scientific research of bat corona viruses. But if a lab worker becomes infected and the infection "accidentally" spreads worldwide, there should be some accountability or perhaps even reparations paid by the country that released it - accidentally or not.

...
...especially after they silenced and suppressed doctors who tried to raise the alarm in the early days of the outbreak (or even just tried to discuss it with their peers).

Hertz is a goner:

Flights have been down a whopping 94% in the last couple months:

I had no idea that rental car companies account for 10% of all new car purchases in America. The article said that they get 2/3 of their business from airports. The domino effect of this virus has just been amazing.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the state reopening, or just more testing being done or both, but this weekend (Sat to Sun) our county in Florida reported more positive tests than ANY day since testing began. 40 new cases. And more than half belonged to people younger than 25 - the youngest of whom was 6. Not good.

Younger have a much much much higher probability of surviving... so... quite the opposite - that is good.

Could be there was a breakout from a party or gathering of some kind. In my city there was an initial 50+ that came in one day from a breakout in a nursing home. Since then we only get 1 to 5 cases.

Novavax starting phase 1 trial with their vaccine candidate.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexkn...ials-of-its-coronavirus-vaccine/#6f94189a5654

By contrast, Novavax is developing a “subunit” vaccine - which sends copies of the virus’s spike protein directly into the body to stimulate an immune response. This is an established vaccine technology currently already being used against diseases such as HPV, Hepatitis B and shingles.

During this vaccine trial, 130 healthy people between the ages of 18-59 will undergo a randomized controlled trial. Some participants will receive a placebo while others receive Novavax’s vaccine candidate. The trial will test two different dosages of the vaccine, and will also test doses both with and without a vaccine adjuvant - a compound that can help boost the immune response from a vaccine. If the results are positive, the company says it will immediately move into the next phase of testing at sites around the world.

Sacramento is going to be hit by a big wave of people moving out of the Bay Area but still working their tech jobs.

San Francisco might start having problems selling those $3,000 a month "luxury" studio apartments soon, and I'm totally OK with that. Greedy bastards.

About to enter a golden era of engineers working two big tech jobs while simulating a presence in the Bay Area from a million dollar plus house in Pacific Beach.

In other news, several friends (work for the state and local governments) are telling they are about to be furlough because state and local government entities revenues are plummet. Tough time ahead for them.

Tell them if they want to pay less for me choosing to live in a lower cost of living place then they have to pay me the difference for them no longer having to lease and maintain a corporate building heh.

Honestly though I never understood why tech companies paid for people to live out there. Did it honestly take them a pandemic for them to realize that your talent doesn't have to live in a place where a shit shack home still coats $1m+?

This is the argument for direct federal aid to states/counties/cities. Failure to do so will lead to more unemployment which will further slow the economic recovery.

Don't worry though! Just a few more months! But now we just don't have fire service. No biggie though.

If they keep going with this stuff were going to be so much in the hole that I guarantee plenty of localities are going to have to restructure shot like pension pays and such.

From what they say Fire and Police are protected but everyone else are on the chopping block. You think you have a tough time to get a response/reply from the government? Things are going to be worse soon.

This is kind of like asking why NYC remains the financial capital of the US, because that's where it happened.

Oh I know fire/police would be last in line, but it just goes without being said that this isn't a game you can just keep playing.

Make CLEAR and CONCISE goals. Once goals are achieved, then phase back to normality should commence. The problem is government officials are fucking dumb with fear mongering and the concept of a plan is just foreign to them.
