if by america you mean north america and not the US
I do.

Seems a slighlty-silly thing to argue over. Clearly they could emerge anywhere, though presumably it's more likely to happen in cultures that favour meat-eating or bestiality. (I'm guessing the first of those is more common.)
Yes, it could come from anywhere. My point exactly. Crowder claimed that all of these outbreaks come from China including Swine Flu.

At 0:46:
"It's where diseases get their start from Swine Flu to the SARS."

There are posts in my local facebook group asking if the DMV is open, are the dog parks open, etc....you can tell based on these questions these people have no idea why people are working from home, pro sports are cancelled, etc ....

Even with all the restaurants in our area only doing take out/delivery, you are still risking exposure (but definitely alot less than dining in)...

By next week when the infection rates are skyrocketing, you really need to avoid ALL unnecessary human contact for two or three weeks which is why you should be buying food now while the infection rates are lower....

This is exactly why this isn't going to get back to normal anytime soon...
Infection rates are artificially low right now because there aren't many tests being done. People have it it's just not diagnosed or confirmed. That's the same reason they are skyrocketing compared to a month ago - because more people are being tested.

Already happening - complaints from medical staff coming off shift late going to buy food, only to find the supermarket has been stripped bare.

Surely to God, people are going to run out of space for food-hoarding soon, though? Then the shops can restock and things will return to normal? Or do some people just have near unlimited space for stashing stuff?

It's not so bad in our area - I'm a part of a neighborhood Facebook group and most people are civilized and helpful.

For example someone will give people advice on getting groceries saying "Hey - anyone who needs TP/Paper towels or diapers go to this CVS store"

or "Anyone that needs meat hit up this butcher shop!" or "x ethnic grocery store that you normally wouldn't go to is fully stocked on everything milk/eggs/water/meat"

I can guarantee you that many many people are scared and are ignoring testing, even when they might have symptoms.

I live in CapeMay County NJ. We have one guy who traveled from NY to our area and tested positive. Everyone is like "there is only one confirmed case in our area." NO! Most of us haven't even been tested, so that is false hope. Gotta love the older people who say "I'm not scared of this virus", "or it's a hoax." Usually from men above 60. Wait until they get sick. They'll be singing a different tune. smh.

Guys I think I found a cure! Look. If Ozzy bit the head off a bat in the early 80s and didn't get sick/die the cure must be in his DNA! :D:D:D

Fast food is drive through only, but some people don't have cars. Will they start allowing bicycle, motorcycle, or walk thru?

Hmmm

Read for a different take on the situation.

Dangerous Curves

If gloom, doom, hype and sensationalism is your cup of tea you should probably just skip to the next post.

Yeah, that doesn't seem to really say very much, stripped of your tiresomely passive-aggressive political posturing (why do conservatives always communicate in that mode? I see it everywhere from them. Do you not have any other way of making points than with that sneery tone of projecting what your opponants are saying and thinking in your head?).

The data is very unreliable and incomplete, sure. That in no way proves the US is past the peak of infections or deaths. Given our known lack of resistance to the virus, and given what is happening in Italy, that seems highly unlikely.

Also the data in that article is already out-of-date and all it seems to be doing is pushing ill-defined complacency. It's not at all convincing at it.

Hmmm

I tried bicycle-through in the past once - they weren't having it. Nor would they let me wheel the bike inside. So I skipped the fast food - just one of many ways that cycling helps your health!

Told my boss I'd like to come back to work today since I no longer have a sore throat and I won't be sharing the office with anyone until Mon. According to CBS News: "A runny nose rarely occurs with COVID-19, and sneezing is not a symptom of the virus." Since those are two of my 3 remaining symptoms (other is mild cough) I'm reasonably sure it's just a cold.

I promised to stay in my office, wear a mask, and disinfect everything. At first he was on board with it but soon contacted me back to say "Hey you know what, just stay home... Let's not chance Nothing"

Guess I'll be out another day at least. :(

Unless I also feel the fatigue that comes with flu, I've never paid such close attention to minor symptoms like these. When I get the flu it does often start with a tingle in my sinuses (like this cold) but very quickly moves into my throat and larynx over the course of a day or so (productive cough; not just sore). Another day and it's in my lungs. I typically have coughing for well over a month after recovery, though I seem to have stopped sooner the last time I had the flu (Nov).

This cold has lingered in my upper respiratory tract and I doubt that's due to zinc lozenges. If it was going anywhere near my lungs I'd know by now, since my first symptoms were Tue and it's now Sat. Hopefully my boss will let me work tomorrow since my scheduled hours have already been cut to the bone and I'll likely have even fewer symptoms.

Interesting. I thought sore throat was a given that everyone started with?

So cough and fever are the only givens? OH MAN! WE GOT THIS FIGURED OUT! It's not like any other recoveries involve those 2 symptoms....

To be honest this chart is totally and completely fucking useless. It's just a shrug of the shoulders of "Eh, you might have it, you might not". It just serves to confuse people further.

as evidenced by this thread, people are eager to argue about ANYTHING

Well this is the unknown. There are people who have gooten COVID-19 and had very minimal symptoms. Then, there are many others who got COVID-19 and got extremely sick, and died.

There are many factors at play here. It just depends on how "healthy" the person is.

I frequently took my motorcycle through drive thrus back when it was my only transportation (2008-2012). ADVChina recently did this when they tried the Donut Chicken Sandwich from KFC:

Yes, those are the guys with insider info who've been sounding the alarm about the novel coronavirus across three of their channels since January (ADVChina, SerpentZA, and LaoWhy86).

Interesting. I thought sore throat was a given that everyone started with?

Well, if it's true that sneezing is not a symptom of COVID-19 then it definitely clarified things for me.

...unless I have both. ;)

It's the CDC and WHO's chart, BTW.

Here's the CBS article again:

Right, but if sneezing isn't a symptom either way and runny nose it my other main symptom then it seems most likely this is just a cold.

I just sneezed again while composing this and now my nose is running like crazy again.

What about couriers delivering packages?
There is an option that says carriers ok with a logo of FedEx ups etc.

But ultimately, I don't want them knocking or ringing the door either. Makes the dogs bark and potentially wakes up the kids from naps.

I can see with the Ring camera if a package arrives anyhow, and usually I know to expect them. Also I live in deep suburbs in a dead end, chancing of folks scoping to steal my packages is slim.
