I heard that some Walmart stores are selling Gamecubes with the GBA plaer add-on for $99, that is a super sweet deal. At least worth checking if your local store has any..

I've heard aboutthis long ago. Gamestop told me about it when I was trading it in. "If you ever want to buy a new GC, lol, Nintendo will be selling the GBA add-on device for it." We both laughed and knew I wasn't going to buy it again. :D

From IGN review of Viewtiful Joe..

OVERALL: *** 9.5 ***

Viewtiful indeed.

Presentation
Cut-scenes tell a slightly muddy yet still entertaining tale of Joe's struggle to rescue Silvia. Standard Capcom polish and excellence all around. 9.0

Graphics
Crisp, colorful, and gorgeous. Great art mixes with solid technology for one of the most stylized beat-'em-ups ever seen. 9.0

Sound
Clean stereo effects ring as Joe shatters his foes with power-packed blows. Electronic trance tunes are good, and Joe's voice-acting fits perfectly. 10.0

Gameplay
The best action title on the GameCube -- Viewtiful Joe rules all. Irresistible and highly addictive action combat packed with fantastic flair. 9.0

Lasting Appeal
VJ is crazy tough, and we love it! Worthy unlockables, but you'll want to keep replaying forever based on the awesome gameplay mechanics alone. 9.5

My point is getting both for $99 is a great deal. P{lus it comes with the Zelda Ocarina of Time bonus disk, I've heard.

6.0 Presentation
The combination of poor FMVs, zero story value, poor character design, and a "vacation" theme is rather a shocker. The focus was clearly on gameplay only.

8.0 Graphics
Mario Sunshine actually takes advantage of GameCube for quite a few pleasing visual touches. Brilliant water, particle effects, and draw distance add up. Bad art and textures damage it.

7.0 Sound
A few catchy tunes, some fitting level themes, and Dolby support. But, things get a little dirty with some bad interactive music and voice-overs.

9.0 Gameplay
The definition of pure fun. The controls and level design come together beautifully for a must-play game. The camera, however, is a major nuisance.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
The main quest is lengthy, and after-hours with going for all the 120 Shines keeps on kicking. Very entertaining, but only the most hardcore of fans will play through it twice.

9.4 OVERALL:
(out of 10 / not an average)

Your point? Mario Sunshine was the biggest POS evar made! And it got over a 9!!!

Mario Sunshine is a great game, if it has a weakness it's that it couldn't meet the insanely high expectations of some Mario fans, but it's a great game when taken on it's own merits.

FABBOY!!! :D

Seriously now, the game was horrible. Should never of had the waterpack, and everything else. I would pee on this game if I still had it. Minyamato(sp) is going downhill!

From IGN's F-Zero GX review

10.0 Presentation
Near perfect. From slick, intuitive menus to the full use of the F-Zero license (FMV, Story Mode, etc.) and Garage Mode, it's all there.

9.0 Graphics
Gorgeous. Beautiful tracks. Amazing particle and lighting effects. Lots of geometry. Crisp, stylish FMV. 60 frames. Progressive scan, 16x9. One or two unimpressive tracks keep it from perfection.

9.0 Sound
Surprisingly well done. Clean, funny voice work mingles with catchy rock and techno tunes that you'll actually want to listen to. Some sound effects seem subdued.

9.0 Gameplay
Extremely fun, addictive but also sometimes-frustrating and incredibly difficult racer. Tight control. Smart level design. Pros will cherish the experience. Novices may hate it.

10.0 Lasting Appeal
As much as we could hope (minus a track editor). 15 standard cups plus a wealth of unlockable ones. Nine Story Mode chapters. Garage Mode. Multiplayer Mode. Wow!

What's wrong with the waterpak in Mario Sunshine ? Sure it's not something you see in every game, but that's what makes Nintendo games great, they aren't like everything else.

My issue isn't that there aren't reasons to buy an xbox, it's that there are just as many reasons to buy a Gamecube.

And it is inexpensive enough at $99 to be worthy of consideration.

Alright, I tried to post this earlier, but there must have been some problems with the subscriber server.

This may or may not be relevant to this discussion, but I think I should just mention it anyway. I have all three major consoles, and I bring them up to school for my roomates and me to play. There are five of us, and a large deal of our free time is spent playing video games. I have about 15-20 games for each system.

Out of the three consoles this past term:
1. GameCube gets the most play time, by far.
2. Xbox gets a lot of play time, although not nearly as much as the GameCube.
3. PS2 wasn't even turned on.

Now before you scream that I am a fanboy or something, let me point out that I bought a PS2 on the day it came out, but waited for price cuts to buy the Xbox and GameCube. This should just show you that you can't neccessarily relate the sales of a system to the amount of fun you have playing games on it.
