in year 1 or in 2013? and why didn't they show (m)any of them?

Meaning the first year the system is out, what is so hard to understand about that?

Maybe they didn't show many because they want to wait? We still have like 5 months before it will come out probably plus E3 runs for more than today and tomorrow.

And a developer can announce a game in development but have nothing to really show yet(planning stages). Next E3 they can show it.

Got my pre-order already into amazon soon as the show finished for a PS4. Cheaper no online DMR for physical games, beefier GPU and 100 dollars cheaper all full of win.

umm because i wanted him to clarify it? what is so wrong about me asking that?

god damn i swear people on here who have to take a "one or the other" stance take shit so personal it's like being over on the ign forums at e3 time around here.

It was a simple statement is the thing. He said in year 1. Why would you think 2013 or 2014 with the way it was stated.

No, not that cesspool. My eyes...

year 1 could mean the rest of the existing year, 365 days from the day it is launched, or the first full year after the console is out, especially when half of the sony presentation was from a foreigner who's first language isn't english, so maybe something got lost in translation. i simply asked him to clarify it.

Fair enough, didn't mean to jump on you about it, it just seemed really clear to me and others.

I think that the PS4 is going to be a clear winner this generation. The lower price point and lack of DRM definitely makes it a better value in my eyes. The more powerful hardware should probably result in some more visually impressive games as well.

No poll option for duo or trio combinations?

I, for one, will most likely buy both the PS4 and the XBOX One. I don't know about the Wii U yet. I have completely skipped the XBOX 360 and the PS3 and only bought a Wii late last year (and only own two games for it so far). But this upcoming generation seems quite interesting to me on both fronts. I do not think that I'm going to buy either of them early on, however (let alone on launch day). I will probably wait a few months or at most maybe a year after release (and if I'm lucky maybe one of them will have a slight price reduction by the following holiday season), but ultimately I think I'm going to buy them both and play their respective exclusive games, that of course I'd happen to be interested in (unless they'd have a PC port, in which case I'd still go for the PC version).

I will be honest though, for this generation Sony definitely seem to have advantages, but I am still genuinely interested by the XBOX One (as long as the next gen is simply "better than" the current one, by any stretch imaginable, then I'm happy with it). The only thing I really (honestly) dislike about the XBOX One is its design, it's got to be one of the ugliest console I have ever seen (and I thought that the GameCube or the NA SNES were both fighting for first position on that podium, well that changed with the XBOX One). But eventually I won't pay attention to its look anymore just as much as I never really payed much attention to my ugly 1990's VHS players under my TV, so the same goes for anything "ugly" within the gaming world (heck as a kid I actually did find the SNES to be ugly and even "debated" it with friends at the time, but it was my favorite console back then and still remains awesome in my heart to this day due to the games on it, and I'm sure many others would claim the same).

The ultimate reason as to why I buy any consoles is the games that end up on them (which is another reason as to why I won't buy either of them on launch day, since at that point there won't be enough games for me to properly judge which one I'd buy first, but really, I'll end up with both at some point).

I already own a fairly new-ish PC along with a 3DS, PS3, and an Xbox360 that's been neglected for the better part of a year. The more I hear about the Xbox One, the less I'm swayed by it. That being said, I may purchase one in the future when they bundle it WITHOUT the Kinect. It's impressive tech but personally, I don't want it.

I have already pre-ordered a PS4 which may prove to be foolish but for some reason I have a feeling it may be one of those systems that in high demand this holiday season. Maybe I'll be able to flip it for some cash. 😀

In the end, I just go where the games are; regardless of what console they are on.

As things stand right now, PS4 to begin with. I'll upgrade my pc when I need to. If the Wii U every gets 2 or 3 games I want to play, then that too (I stopped caring about their flagship core games years ago, last I bought was Mario 64).

Alot would have to change before I'd buy an Xbox One. Not saying it will never happen. But, if nothing changes...then no thanks

I'll put it this way, I'd be shocked if things differed much from the status quo about PS/XB getting their exclusives. Sony and MS aren't going to launch consoles with no games 🙂 That's the whole point 😀

Realistically I will likely end up owning both systems. I enjoy gaming, can afford it, and will likely find some exclusives on both that I consider must-haves. That said, I have a couple thoughts:

PS4 is almost certainly the first buy. Lower price, better hardware*, and a really solid looking set of launch titles. Factor in cross-platform stuff and it's excellent.

Xbox maybe around the time Halo comes out. I actually like the online features - digital distribution with cloud download, log in at my friends and download there... sign me up. I'd be happy to never buy another disc, as long as it works. As long as it works is important though, and $499 is pretty steep, so it'll be a wait and see.

*I always wonder about this. Will better hardware mean better graphics, or will developers code lowest common denominator? It's happened before.

Same underlying x86 architechture, same cpu/gpu families, so at worst PS4 will be simply smoother. In exclusives things will look way better on PS4.

Also region free and user upgradeable HDD.

Never been a console guy but the PS4 might just change that

I think most people who buy XB1 will also buy PS4 (but not the opposite)
All in all Xbox still has some very strong exclusives like Forza and Halo, but Sony seems to be much more in touch with gamers than Microsoft is, and thats likely what will tip most people

There is no way Xbox will launch at 499$ after yesterday though, the amount of negative press Microsoft is getting is too overwhelming, they need to do something drastic

Not sure yet. I don't game a ton anymore. One of my big things is racing "sims", aka Forza and GT. The last GT was a turd so Forza is my pick. Rest of my gaming is non-exclusive FPS. So I lean to the One but it's also $100 more, plus all the other negs with it. Just have to wait and see on this one, to early for me to decide. Neither is also a serious possibility.

Cause they shoehorned kinect and a cable box with it I bet they really can't budge much on the price right now.

those who are saying the ps4 has a better set of launch titles ... i'm curious what launch titles on ps4 got you excited. some of the multiplatform games got me excited, but other than knacked, there wasn't anything exclusive that was said to be a launch title that excited me.

I'll be getting a PS4 sooner than I thought. Well done on Sony there, but the PS3 will keep me busy for a long time yet. Last of Us this Friday, Beyond: Two Souls, Walking Dead Season 2, and GTA V in the fall, the monthly deluge of games for PS+ members, and a number of things I've not played yet. PS3 has a lot of life left in it.

It's a multiple choice poll.

Also, why would you buy both a PS4 and an Xbox One? Are there really that many Xbox One exclusives that would make it worth it to buy? To me it seems like more and more games are going PS/Xbox cross platform, with very little left over, and most Xbox "exclusives" are available on PC as well. All that's really left is Forza and Halo, and both can easily be replaced by non-Xbox counterparts. There are plenty of good PC racing games, and you can always get a GT game on the PS4. Halo is a shell of its former self, a shitty generic shooter ever since 343 took over, and it's not worth buying a whole other console just to play it.

god damnit just heard the news bout killer instinct being f2p and not a full game. unless it is announced as a disc based game with all characters on top of the f2p edition, i'm really fucking torn now.

MICROSOFT I REALLY REALLY WANT TO BUY YOUR CONSOLE BUT IT IS LIKE YOU CONTINUE TO GIVE ME REASONS TO NOT WANT TO BUY IT STOP FUCKING WITH MY EMOTIONS!!!!!!!!!!
