This shows that you know nothing. It is definitely NOT overhyped and NOT overrated. It's performs awesome for what it is.

This shows that you don't have a rudimentary understanding of the English language. I spent the entire post communicating that performance is not the be all end all and that while it is an excellent performer, it lacks what separates the good from the great, namely what bench racers can't see with pure numbers like styling and feel among other factors.

There are many fanboys that proselytize to the altar lap times, but when actually determining vehicle enjoyment, it is a largely worthless measure, useful for nothing more than largest penis contests.

I don't think it's a desirable car. I've walked around one, sat in one and driven one for a bit in public roads and personally, for my money, I'd be happier in other vehicles.

. Now that the new software is actually faster with VDC on than off, along with Nissan covering warranties unless it dies basically while VDC is off or immediately after, the tranny issues are sort of a moot point.

not really. some of us dont use that shit, because we WANT the car to lose traction sometimes, and use it to drive the car predicatbly.

if I took it to the track, I would turn it off, so if it blew up, which apparantly it probably would, I would be SOL 😀

there are reports thats it feels disconnected from the driver when driving hard, but who knows, I havent driven one

So what you're saying is you've really never driven it and you claim it has no feel?

Cool story bro.

For the money I'd rather have a base model 911. Yea, it's not as fast. However, it will be stupid reliable and probably cheaper in the long run.

If I had that kind of money, I'd buy a CTS-V and pocket the extra 20k

If I had that kind of money I'd hire the entire cast of Cats to perform a benefit show for the poor souls zip-tied to old rusting mainframes in olds' basement as a humanitarian gesture under the auspices of the Bleeding Butts foundation.

I've . . . I've seen things. <shudder>

The sad thing is, I am convinced.

Dollar-for-dollar, my '92 S10 would probably be better.

He said name a better car under 75,000, he's clearly not looking for price/performance =D

The GTR is overhyped and overrated. Speed is not the be all end all of cars.

The real legends that car lovers care about are never only because they are the fastest, most over-engineered cars of an era. Look at the Porsche 356, British roadsters, the Acura NSX, Lamborghini Miura or 55/57 Chevy Bel Air.

Performance will always be a secondary when considering a car's charm because performance will always be superseded in time. Even truly "fast" performance cars had other charms.

The Mclaren F1, F40 and Viper were absolutely raw in their experiences. The Zondas are design studies. The Porsche Turbos have legacy and feel.

The GTR has excellent performance, but little else, it's an over-engineered one trick pony that coddles the driver and isolates him from the road. It is designed so well and so over-thought from the performance to even interior polyphony programmed instrumentation that it's essentially a surgical tool, excellent in what it was designed to do, but absolutely, soul crushingly without personality. It's the Toyota Camry of sports cars.

For $75k I would much rather have a SLK-55, Boxster/Cayman S or Corvette Grandsport or a slightly used Maserati Granturismo.

Going fast for the sake of going fast is stupid, especially in the case of a car that will be driven on public roads. If you aren't buying a car for racing, numbers racing in cars like the GTR is nothing but masturbation.

The GTR is fast but absolutely soul-less. It'll still be remembered years from now by a small group of fanboys, but it is still overrated to hell and back. Its like the Supra, except the Supra was more fun to drive at legal to slightly extra-legal speeds.

Very well said! The GTR is cool but will never match the legacy of the 911, especially the air-cooled 911 turbos. Also, the current 911 GT2 RS is an absolute slayer.

No this shows YOU don't have a grasp of the English language. We are talking about performance cars and it does EXACTLY what it's supposed to do for cheaper than other cars. Just because YOU don't think it's a good car doesn't mean it isn't. I'll never buy one as it's not my cup of tea but it goes faster than cars more expensive than it. That's all it's meant to do. Just like the Corvette. Faster than cars thousands of dollars more expensive. It doesn't need a "heritage", it doesn't need you to like it. It does what it does exceptionally well. They could have gone all out but it would have made it that much more expensive. They didn't want to as they wanted to give people the utmost in performance for the lowest possible price.

LOL, did you copy and paste this from GT-R Jealousy Anonymous 101?

GT-R does not give 2 shits about what you think. It will simply trample over your puny little head like the whiny little bug you are. 😉

Ready? Set? Nerd Raaaaaaaaaaaaaage again for us!

GT-R is the probably the closest thing the automotive world has to a car with a SOUL. Maybe the Veyron. Regardless, Souls are not present in brainless base organisms but only with those of more advanced intelligence and complexity.

Perhaps you should try looking for your own soul sometimes if all your intelligence is capable of is mere weak derivative white bread jealous nerd rages.

Also, I have to LOL @ SLK 55 - Girlly car and Gran Turismo - a cushy grand tourer - these have great SOUL POWER YO!!!!

Styling jab lol... there are few cars that can match a GT-R's looks, and most cost far above it.

If you think GT-R looks bad, you must think the Corvette looks like a steaming pile of shit! They are about 100 years apart in modern design.

Jesus this stuff is divisive. Regardless of what I would buy if I was blessed with heaps of excess cash, I just love :

Vette
Viper
911 & Cayman
Most Ferraris
Most Lambos
GT-R
Atom
Elise/Exige
Astons and sporty Jags
BMW M Coupes and Sedans
Veyron
The resurgent '11+ Mustangs

and .. although I'm not crazy about :

BMW M SUVs
Most AMGs (CLS and Black SL aside)
Most Audis (S5 is sweet though)

I don't think they're soulless piles of crap. Obviously a lot of thought, effort, and engineering go into all of these things. Everyone has preferences, but I think it's a bit better to look at the positives rather than nitpicking things to death. Just because I personally think a (insert X car here) is kind of bland, or overengineered, or just not exciting doesn't mean that my opinion of it is automatically worth more than jack shit either way.

You can bank on the douche-nuggets to come fapping in after me. 😉

Whatever you say fatty.

I like the way you think. I didn't realize all the feelings I would stir up for all the car lovers out there.

I was merely trying to point out a 75k car from the factory that can hang with $500,000 - $2,000,000 cars on the track and in a straight line is worthy of a little praise.

GT-R > your car 🙂

Assuming you mean a new car. Where are you getting a GT-R for $9000 off sticker? MSRP is $84k, not $75k.

Even Hitler doesn't like the GT-R.

It's a nice car and I wouldn't mind having one. That said, I'll have no regrets if one chooses to strut it's stuff at a stop light 😉
