Owen is almost certainly out of the tournament now - hugely encouraging 1st half from England but familiar problems occured in the 2nd half.

I hope Hargreaves retains his place as the midfield looked far more balanced. Joe Cole had a very good game as well and seems to be becoming a much more consistent international

What the hell was that intentional handball? That's about the dumbest thing you can do in your own box.

It's a very enjoyable game. To be honest, I've been very impressed with the entertainment value of all the games in the tournament. I can't remember a really dull game (well, England's first two games were quite dull but I had to watch)

Understandly, but can they handle Ecuador's speed and the two beasts that they have up front... Defoe, where fort art thou? :p

Ah - the million dollar question, why did he only take 4 strikers?

I hope they'll handle Ecuador ok - hopefully Ecuador will play an open, pacy game which should suit us.

We've got an even fitter Rooney and a refreshed Gerrard to unleash as well ;)

I had complete faith in England's defense until Yesterday... :|

And why didn't Sven use his last sub? I figured Aaron Lennon or Theo Walcott should have come on even if for only a couple of minutes.

I must say, it is refreshing to see Portugal without that gigolo, Ronaldo. Much better pace and passing without Ronaldo trying to 1v1 every single defender he sees.

I don't think he'll give Walcott a run out at all now to be honest. Lennon would have taken the game back to Sweden and given England an outlet to relieve the pressure - I have no idea why he wasn't used.

That was a crap call. Yeah, he took a bit of a dive, but he did get blocked and ran into. I've seen WAY much worse dives that didn't get a card or even have the player talked to. Bad call.

I agree, which begs the question "SVEN, WHY DID YOU BRING HIM AT ALL?"

 I have no idea. Wenger was talking about him being a good prospect and that seemed to be it. Defoe must be feeling gutted now.
