Korea is definitely facing major pressure for their final group game against the Swiss.

yeah, shame as I'd like to see both sides go through

Well, if Togo wins, they both go through. Yeah, like THAT'll happen...

If Togo does manage to pull off the upset, Zidanes last game would have already happened denying him the chance to walk off the field to the crowds applause. (He is suspended for the Togo game for having 2 yellow cards...)

I'm hoping (very unlikely) for Togo to claim a draw and in Group E for the Czech Republic to beat Italy comfortably while the USA beat Ghana so that they go through as well :D

Be great to see Italy and France out

As a dutchy i'm routing for the netherlands ofcourse.
However , the fact that the teams from Australia, S.korea, and T & Tabago all have Dutch Trainer, we're also cheering for them :)

Unfortunatly Brasil will probably win....

Hey, look at those yellow cards for the same tackles US got reds on. /stillnotoverthat

Nice shock goal by Tunisia there. Btw, why does their goalie look pissed all the time?

Spain is getting tremendous amount of chances...just not capitalizing. Feels like the Spaniards are going to break through any time now.

Actually, the Czech Rep needs to lose to Italy and USA beat Ghana for the US to make it through.

If Italy and the Czech Republic tie, the USA can still go through, but they will have to blow out Ghana

not if the Czech's hand out a pasting to Italy so that their goal difference is worse than the US - I know it's unlikely but I'd love to see it happen

Some good games today - can't wait to see the result of Ecuador v Germany to decide who wins that group. A draw would put Ecuador top on goal difference!

Then it's on to Sweden v England. England have always struggled against Sweden and there's no reason to think tonight will be any different. I'm glad Owen Hargreaves is finally going to be given a chance in his preferred role for 90 minutes (even though it's only because Gerrard is being rested to avoid another yellow card) - he's a player I really rate and think England would perform much better with a Hargreaves/Gerrard axis in the long term.

oh - and Rooney starts too! :D

I'll keep going with my one man show this afternoon :D

Costa Rica/Poland is 1-1 at half-time in the other Group A match - both teams are playing for pride only

Don't jinx the Vaterland!

I have a feeling that Germany and Ecuador play like they don't really care (since they both advanced), it just happens that Germany is controlling it a bit better.

The 2nd goal was sweet, two Ecuador players dived and the ball ended up at ballack's feet, and then he made a sweet pass for Klose. I feel bad for Polonski, he still hasn't scored a goal yet and Klose got 4 under his belt already.

You might be right, Ecuador's fans don't seem to worried :D

I can't wait! Really hoping for an improved English performance and a comfortable England win. In reality it will probably be a very close game decided by the odd goal although I'd be surprised if Sweden scored twice.

Final scores in Group A:

Ecuador 0 - Germany 3
Costa Rica 1 - Poland 2

Germany win the group and Ecuador qualify as runners-up.

Come on England! Let's win Group B and set up a 2nd round clash with Ecuador!

A good drinking game: take a drink everytime Balboa says "right there" and "but still"
