Ah, the German soccer microcosmos :) Where a tabloid thinks it should have to power to organise the team. I don't think Klinsmann will lose his job, no matter how well the team performs. He's the first coach to resist said tabloid's influence and apparently built up a teamgeist.

Arena on the other hand has the right friends in the US soccer association and maybe can keep his job, too. According to a Swiss moderator at least.

Nobody thinks that the Netherlands can win against Portugal?

Holland is not going down without a fight.

My predictions:

Germany vs. Sweden - SELECT WINNER -- Germany
Argentina vs. Mexico - SELECT WINNER -- Argentina
England vs. Ecuador - SELECT WINNER -- England
Portugal vs. Holland - SELECT WINNER -- 50/50
Italy vs. Australia - SELECT WINNER -- Italy
Switzerland vs. Ukraine - SELECT WINNER -- Switzerland
Brazil vs. Ghana - SELECT WINNER -- Brazil
Spain vs. France - -- SELECT WINNER - 50/50

Portugal vs. Holland and Spain vs. France are the matches I wouldn't miss :D

no love for the underdog? Ghana...Ghana...Ghana... and then how bout them soccerroos? Probably a long shot but the US held off italy 1-1, with basicalyl half the match down 9-10 players.

also, england has palyed horribly in group play.

I'd love to see Brazil lose. They've won too much and have fans that support them even though they're not from Brazil simply because they're good. Like Yankee fans not in NY and Red Wings fan not in Detroit.

Australia, I can't say I know too much about them, but they played pretty well against Brazil so they have a chance, but I wouldn't count on it.

BERLIN! BERLIN! WIR FAHREN NACH BERLIN!

21 hours until Switzerland - Ukraine... :)

You didn't miss much. Holland as always didn't quite know what sportsmanship means and not only comitted way to many fouls but also had to play the wounded duck. I am sure the dutch newspapers will talk all about how bad the Ref was, and less about why Van Nisterroy wasn't playing... although that will come up.

I wish Por. all the best, but missing two, maybe three starters if the injury is bad enough will not help them against England. I just hope England keeps playing like this, They will beeasy prey for a really good team. Go Portugal!

England are playing awfully it's true but have managed to get through. Rooney is now looking (almost) back to normal and will be a very important player in the QF against Portugal.

Hopefully G.Neville will be fit again so Hargreaves can take the holding role - and let's see more of Lennon!

Last night's game was great entertainment but there were some shocking decisions - Portugal may have to find 3 replacements if Figo is given a red card once FIFA check the TV footage of his headbutt.

I struggle to see Germany getting past Argentina to be honest in the first QF but think Germany have done well to get this far based on their pre-tournament form.

I'll drink to those results:beer:

I really want to see a team attack Brazil with pace down the wings - that's where they'll be found out

Well, Mr Beckham, you have been running around in the sun on the hottest day of the tournament for over an hour and have just scored the go ahead goal with a fantastic direct kick. How do you feel?

I can't belive Italy made it. They are playing much like England. It's pretty sad when teh Aussis almost pull it off.

In either constilation. If Germany can win against Argentina they will win the Worldcup! All remaining teams have not shown anything that would me let think otherwise... well... except a dive for a Penalty kick in the 94"min... wow... gooo Italy.

The team coming out of the bottom half of the bracket will win it all.

Germany will win it all, they are the only team that look formidable and played with any guts so far in this World Cup.

I'd hardly say they look formidable - their defence looked very weak against Costa Rica and they took a last minute goal to beat Poland.

If they beat Argentina then I'll revise my opinion of them but I think Argentina will win

Glad football is back on - only so much tennis I can take! Although Sharapova looks fantastic in HD ;)

Germany v Argentina should be a great game, be interesting to see who prevails but my money would be on Argentina (maybe with extra time).

Italy v Ukraine doesn't quite have the same appeal but should still be worth watching - i'm hoping for a Ukraine win but in all probability Italy will probably make it through.

Roll on tomorrow afternoon for England v Portugal!

Beckham better take an active part in the game besides just the set plays in the match tommorow, I dont like his defensive skills much.

He should be much better tomorrow if Neville is playing - the 2 have an understanding down the right wing. Having said that Beckham is always willing to track back and help out the defence

Luck finaly ran out for the under performers. Brazil never looked like Brazil and England... well, we all talked about them enough. Glad they are gone!

Germany for the Win!
