Somewhat guessing here as I'm not looking at my char,

But I think there are 6 main armor slots and on those I have 2 invulnerability, 1 demon, 1 health, 1 damage boost, and the other I think does damage to enemies.

I will say, the pot of gold thing kinda sucks seeing how long it takes to rank it up.

Yea I agree on the pot of gold. 10% bonus XP at level 1, but by the time I get it to level 1 the character I have it on will be 60 and I'll need to unbind it to use it on something else.

Two things in this game I don't understand: equipment being bound to specific characters and retcon devices. Retcons make absolutely no sense, especially with the omega system.. All they do is make me not want to experiment with builds

I have the same feeling with Retcons and not wanting to fiddle with builds too much. You can get 3 on each toon, at least--the chapter 4 kill Bullseye mission on each difficulty.

With enough characters, you could pretty easily pile them up (though you have to unlock Superheroic difficulty on each one), and use them for the characters that you play the most. They do occasionally drop, I believe. But very rare.

I've got about 6 retcon from opening boxes over the months. Haven't spent any points yet so don't need to use.

Do remember in beta though that they were so easy to get as drops, doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Will need to read about this omega thing, found it by accident last night just clicking around on the various menus and such.

I fired this up yesterday for a bit. Did not check to see if I had a previous character, but I chose Johnny Storm as my starting guy. Not sure if that's a good choice or not. Took me a bit to get used to the controls, but overall I had fun. I'll try to play some more over the coming days.

Do we know how much it will cost to get the Silver Surfer?

Wish the UI was better so when you hovered over a plyer you could tell who he was playing. Around the hubs or in an outdoor miniboss battle I'll see several models I'm not sure who they are and don't see how to tell who they are.

Ah ok, so nine bucks? Not bad.

KT

It's only bad (eg expensive) if you are impatient and want to play all of them now.

I suffer an extreme case of alt-itis dating back to EverQuest. Marvel Heroes scratches that itch, but my wallet does not appreciate my lack of patience. :D

You and me both, MiataNC. I went nuts on the bogo sale, and then pre-ordered Silver Surfer last night. Someone take away my credit card.

So where are you guys at on the "Team Up Hero" ? Seems like they are like pets that pop in temporarily to help out ?

Doesn't seem worthwhile on first glance considering their cost.

I choose the "Never there, buffbot" version. I get a couple damage buffs, and +credits, +special find, +rare chance, and bonus huge damage quite often on most toons. a 2-4% chance when you are firing 40 chances a second(Black Widow, energy gun dual 20 shots a second) happens a lot.

Always limited by the "it can only happen every 30 seconds limit".

But holy hell, the amount of time I've spent respeccing everyone after this last patch has been a long time. Still have over half of them to go.

The good thing is they've redone a few of them that were not as fun to play after their last change. Wolverine being the prime candidate. Now he's back to solid and fun.

That's awesome.

So for the $16 Surfer pack, what does that other stuff really mean and is it worth it?

KT

you get hero-specific stash, which means any uniques that drop for that hero, or bound items on that hero. I think certain general crafting items can be put in there as well, but not all of them. And you get his alternative costume that is being released. I think it's a loin cloth.

In cost, the hero-specific tabs are 350g, Surfer is 700g, the costumes range from, something like 450g-1350g. No idea what Surfer's costume will cost, but to me it's rather arbitrary. The storage tab is the most valuable thing there, and it costs about $3 of real money. Surfer costs about $7 or $8, I think. By the way, costumes do have value in-game: if you get to certain crafting levels, you can exchange extras for other random costumes. They are probably the rarest items in game, but you cant' trade them or anything. costumes have affixes that you can upgrade in addition to the appearance stuff. So for Surfer, it's basically 2 costumes to start with.

I think this will work any time during this month: level up your Human Torch to 30 so that you can get the 365 anniversary bonuses. Pretty sure you need to have a level 30 toon. This is 365 items, a lot of them very useful. among that: free storage tab, 2 boxes of 5x unique items for hero that opens them: one is 5 level 20 uniques, the other has level 60s. I'm saving those for Surfer. You get 3 Ultimate upgrade tokens to upgrade the ultimate power on whatever hero you want.

A lot of those chests, you probably want to save for a level 60 to open. I'm not sure which of the items are level-bound on open, but some give great items like cosmic medallions, and some of these are extremely rare. I got a Cosmic Tombstone, which is one of the rarest--but it was an average roll.

well, technically, I guess you could just wait for Surfer and level him before the end of the month. SOP for leveling in this game: do Holo Sim or X Defense until level 20 (after you get out of prologue; X has better loot in general; Holo is probably faster leveling), then do your Legendary Quests when they unlock at 20. That's not terribly fun, so maybe do some story stuff, because some missions do give permanent character bonuses and account buffs.

Cool, thanks for the info, very helpful. I will try to grind up to 30 with my Torch; he's only level 4 right now, so I have some real work to do. Sounds like I should be able to accomplish it though. For the boring parts I will just throw a podcast documentary on and grind away! :awe:

I would rather take it slow with SS anyway, I am mainly using the Torch to familiarize myself with how to play. I think I will get the $16 SS package since I plan on using him pretty much exclusively.

BTW that level 20 unique box? I opened it last night on my level 20 Ms Marvel and it gave me all level 60 uniques. There are similar reports on the marvel heroes forums. I was kind of looking forward to some uniques to level her with, but I'm not complaining.

Something I've noticed, on quest legs I've completed and shown in the log as completed, sometimes there is a little trophy in the log showing I've got some quest reward but others don't even though all the quest in that chapter are complete. Assuming there is a reward only available for some?

oh sweet. I'm thinking I would prestige Nightcrawler and/or Surfer. I was saving that box for either hero--well, will likely prestige both of them. not sure why...free point reset so I can try different builds, I guess.

Problem is, Nightcrawler pretty much has his best stuff with very good rolls already in each slot at 60, so if I do get level 60 items, it would be a waste of the box. level 20 would be ideal for prestiging. Deadpool could use upgrades at 60, doubt I will prestige him...so 20s are useless for him.

...what to do? maybe just open both with Surfer, which would at least give options at 60, worse comes to worst. It took a few of each drop for NC, anyway, to get my current gear... 1st world problems!

yes, only some of the quests in each chapter have a trophy. You should be able to see a blank trophy in a quest that rewards something, if you have not yet completed it. Chapters that have mixed quests--those with rewards and those without--will show one trophy on the chapter tab if you have completed all of the reward-based quests within that chapter.

if you complete each rewardable quest on each difficulty level, I think that is 12 total skill points for that character. Also something like 30 spirit? and maybe ~200 health? I forget. 3 retcons for sure, and various xp and RiF/SiF boosts.

Finished up 4 and 2/3 of 5 and hit 25. Going to have to read up soon on what to spend points on, non-generic mobs aren't dieing nearly as quick anymore.

The forest section of 5 pretty huge, and I ended up searching through the entire damn thing before finally coming across the doorway I needed.

Found 2 artifacts. Looks like they are BoA when you get them. Seems you add more of the same type to get improved version, would prefer they stay BoA after you equip them so not using either now to see what start getting more of.

Also got a unique item, some speed increase thing made by the goblin. First I've come across one of these so have no clue about them, but it only has one stat so not sure if they're supposed to be better than epic/cosmic pieces or what their purpose is.

Haven't had any cosmic drops in a long time. Most of mine where in the 7-9 level so starting to feel a bit weaker now. Having almost 50 unspent power point probably contributing to this.

Are you trying to hit 30 before the 12th? I'd just bang out some legendary quests and then go back to the story after you hit 30.

Why aren't you spending your power points?

lol, spend your power points!

are you talking about relics that you found--the things you equip at level 20 that stack, up to 1k?
They can be unbound to each character through the crafter, once you level him to get that recipe. It used to be somewhat cheap, but they recently re-upped the prices for this.

Eh, 12th...for some reason I thought it was the 14th. Guess I need to finish it tonight.

O reason other than I'd prefer not to have to spend, reset and spend again so I wait till I've done enough reading to know what works best.
