I don't know if its because of the glut of people or what but the game is pretty much unplayable for me now. In areas where I got 45 fps before I'm lucky to get 18 to 20 now.

EDIT: Figured it out. The new exe was making my machine launch using the imbedded graphics instead of my discrete card.

So how long would it take to hit 30 for the reward?

What type of hero is the best to play in game now?

I've gotten several now, all level 1 though except for the one that did the initial breakout. Still not sure how to play the game in regards to completing the quest line and swapping heroes. Kinda wish the game kept quest status locked per hero even if you were able to swap heroes on the spot as can be done now.

Depends if you use boosts. You can easily get to level 20 in a couple of hours. 20-30 takes a bit longer, but still doable in an evening or two.

Got Squirrel Girl in my free random box. Oh well, she was free at least.

Once you hit 20 you can start doing legendary quests, also that gives a lot of experience. I'd say if you want to get to 30 fast, do Midtown up to 20, and if you have an XP boost pop that and start doing legendary quests. You'll be 30 in no time.

From various free items I've probably got about 8+ 2hr boost things for XP, and as many for money/items and other things.

Couple hours of play time tops. Even quicker if you pop an XP boost and jump into Midtown.

So I got my first character to 60 last night, Scarlet Witch. Man 50-60 was quite a slog compared to the first 50 levels. Well now I can't decide who to level to 60 next

My roster:

Iron Man - level 31
Captain America - level 19
Nightcrawler - level 18
Taskmaster - level 7
Ms. Marvel - 4
Colossus - 1
Hawkeye - 1
Punisher - 1
Squirrel Girl - 1
Storm - 1
Loki - 1
Daredevil - 1

Yea I know, went a little nuts on the bogos. But 2 of those were randoms with splinters, and another from that massively code. :D

Iron Man is the highest, but I'm not 100% sold on him yet. He's pretty cool, but I keep running into spirit issues. Leaning towards Nightcrawler, Taskmaster or Ms Marvel. I haven't even tried any of the others yet, so I have no idea how they are.

I started with Iron Man, but like you I went nuts with the BOGO.

So far I find myself drawn to heroes with teleports. Nightcrawler is a riot "bamfing" around the map, and he has sick single target damage.

Cyclops is quickly becoming another favorite as well. His mix of melee and ranged just feels right. In my opinion he plays exactly like I expect from reading the comics.

Teleports, I know right? Really hard to go to a non teleporting character after taking Scarlet Witch to 60.

it does keep story missions locked per hero, but it isnt' very intuitive. when you switch hero, open the mission menu, L. it will show you where you are in each chapter if you click on that chapter tab.

It is also specific for each difficulty level (first new difficulty unlocks at level 25). So when switching difficulties, that story progression changes for that hero.

The mission Tab on the main screen HUD--that one on the right side--is confusing. the green story missions will change, based on which chapter "you are in" meaning, use a waypoint, and while Avengers Tower may appear in 4 or 5 different chapters, if you travel there within the specific chapter tab in the L menu, your Mission Tab will also update to that chapter's progress, based on the hero....and based on the difficulty.

Certain story missions grant permanent bonuses for each hero (like power points, health, spirit) across each difficulty level (so you can receive them 3x each, once per hero). Eventually, you will see that this helps to keep track of which bonuses you still need.

Best hero is probably determined by your style of play. Ranged, mele, AoE type characters? Currently, quickest leveling is to do Holo Sim or X Defense until level 20. Then Legendary Quests will become available--also found in L menu and on your mission tab. Grind thsoe out for massive XP until you hit 60. They can take place anywhere--in Midtown, on story maps, or in terminals. You can also reset them if you don't like that particular quest, but jsut starting out, I would suggest do them all. Will save money, help you pile up Odin Marks, and even help unlock various waypoints in story missions that you may not have yet accessed (if the LQ rolls in the story ahead of your progression, the waypoint for that LQ will magically become available for you, until you complete that LQ. You can then explore that map, within the story, to unlock other waypoints to make things easier/faster).

I would suggest saving XP buffs for when you hit 50 on a character that you like. the 50--60 progression is very slow.

apparently she's really powerful. Pretty much have to play her on mute, though. Annoying enough just hearing her in the area.

without other leveled characters, it might take longer--especially if you want to go through the story a bit.

Hell, I know I ignore the best advice of veterans for things like this, when playing a new game: I don't care if skipping the story and leveling in other ways is more efficient, I just want to do the story one time through and ease into everything, etc. :)

To Lupi:
But, leveling gets much faster, the more characters you have maxed, or at least at 50+. I think bonus starts at account-wide 50% XP boost with 1 level 60 toon, 65% with 2 60 toons, and 75% with 3, and so on You get 3% with each level 50 or something like that. The max permanent account boost is 200% on XP. You can see these details in any character stat sheet (I menu), under the extra or "special" stat category, whatever it is.

Just hover over each type of stat to get a nice popup detailing each stat.

OH, also: server-wide 50% XP until Sunday going on right now. And, one thing I learned early is to keep an eye on social chat window. Sometimes, someone will offer up a "Boon Party." Boons (not "boosts"--I still haven't seen a boon and dont' know where to get them) will effect anyone near the user that pops them. So, basically, people meetup at a common place--typically SHIELD Rooftop in Chapter 1, Normal difficulty (so everyone can use it), and just pop whatever boons they have. These stack in duration. They are 25% buff each (XP, RIF, SIF), and depending on how many pop, the duration just adds on--also, timers on boons or boosts do not countdown inside Hubs, so consider them paused when dealing with your inventory.

You don't need to be in a party to get the boons, but you may need to party up to make sure you join the proper instance where everyone is gathered on that map. Then you leave the party so more can taxi in.

Currently, I have 3 days of 25% SIF. some folks seems to wader around with 40+ days going on...

Punchclops....ugh. just got him in one of those random boxes. Not something I want to spend time with--I'm already dreading pushing Hawkeye from 30 to 50 (well, 52, because of bastard dupe tokens that I need to clear from inventory) just to get his awesome synergies.

BUT--all of that is just to make Nightcrawler better for me (the crits from Hawkeye). It's nearly impossible to play anyone that can't teleport now :D

as for heroes that are fast to level:

definitely Nightcrawler--moves across maps faster than anyone, combo of massive AoE and crowd gathering and quick killing means you just level faster

Jean Grey is fast too. Pretty much stay perma phoenix right now (until she is reviewed), and you can sit on stuff and AoE blast them to death and with the right gear, you just regen health and spirit. She's decently fast on maps, as well, with Phoenix rush, but Lampposts are your biggest enemy. Still, blowing the shit out of everything in your trail of explody fire is satisfying.

Deadpool can teleport as well, once you hit 30, but he's pretty slow until then, and the teleport is a lot clunkier than NC's, plus it eats spirit.

There's 50% bonus XP right now? Oh man who to level, who to level.

yep. Also RIF and SIF. All for the anniversary weekend.

I would suggest Nightcrawler...because he is awesome. I also recently got IronMan and toying with leveling him, but, I'm missing out on new Omega points with all the leveling.

As for Iron man and spirit--I find that his shield, + the explodey shield skill (which resotres spriit) + the health package/defense whatever passive skill lower in that same tree(which restores shield per second), keeps him near-perma spirit. I max Shield, 1 point into explode shield, and max the defense passive (which has other great functions). Also max that starter passive in the left tree, which scales his damage with total spirit pool. It's weird--lots of spirit makes him more powerful, but with the other skills, he doesn't really need tons of spirit, but you still want to give him tons of spirit.

NC on the other hand...I've had him up to 670+ spirit, and still tap out quickly. I'm trying to be more efficient with skills and increasing damage so I can use them less, but even with the proper Runewords and good artifacts (I only have Pama and not Pym Shrinking--which would be nice), NC still munches up spirit.

Think I'll just keep using torch since he's already at a massive level 4!

What's synergy about? Saw it referenced but not idea what it ws in reference to other than some type of hero interaction.

once a hero hits level 25, they unlock their first (of two--second is at level 50) synergy attributes. it's a simple buff--like 2% crit, 15 energy, something something, that you activate across your account.

You can have 10 hero synergies at any one time for each hero--so it's something that you change for each hero, not that the same set is active on your account.

Once you hit 25, the little button--looks like yin/yang--will pop up telling you about it. You can only set them while in a hub. If you want to use Torch's synergy as Torch, you do have to activate it, and it will count as 1 of 10 total synergies.

Yep, really wondering how to unbind that pot of gold. And whether I should keep it after lvl 60 or not. And what about the mini cyclop? Should I just make that or recraft it into that legendary weapon?
