Ana Lucia did not shoot Shannon. Shannon wasn't even shot. Stop it at the exact moment when Shannon turns around and you can see that she was stabbed.

There are two theories about this:
a) Sayid/Shannon aren't even in the same area as Ana Lucia. Ana Lucia shot someone else, but was close enough for Sayid to hear the gunshot.
b) Ana Lucia shot at whoever was attacking Shannon.

However, option b) does not make sense. When Sayid looks up, he sees a person on the edge of the screen holding a gun in their left hand, in a relaxed position. When we see Ana Lucia, she is holding the gun in her right hand, with her left hand below reinforcing her grip. She is also in a very defensive position.

Therefore, Ana Lucia and Sayid are not in the same area. Ana Lucia shot at someone else entirely. There is another person standing there with a gun pointed at Sayid. Most likely, this person is: Ethan Rom. He was listed as a guest star (William Mapother) in the episode, but never appeared anywhere else. I think that's his arm holding the gun.

Ethan was killed by Charlie. Shot 4 or 5 times in the chest and then buried.

Crazier sh!t has happened.

You also don't want to get into the duplicate theory that a lot of people have about Lost, which could be one way of explaining that.

It happened before where a name was in the credits and they weren't in the show. Scenes get cut and whatnot. For all we know he was going to appear in a flashback sequence.

Wondering that myself.

AUDIO CLIP of walt saying "they're coming and they're close" (actual soundtrack reversed)

AUDIO CLIP of the forest scene from the perspective of michael, the biatch wannabe etc's group. once again, original soundtrack reversed

AUDIO CLIP of forest scene from shanon's perspective, reversed.

i can easily tell the they're coming and they're close thing-- but the forest whispers i can't make out. anyone who can tinker with the sound a bit or have extraordinary hearing? 😉

ok sometimes these theories just go too far.....

just fired weapon- notice the barrel of the gun- it was just shot.

The biatch is lowering her weapon...

... down to her side

no, there's no ethan rom who's there and then just disappears or something. come on...

It may be a continuity error, but the last pic shows the gun in the person's left hand. In the first two, it's obvious she's holding the gun right handed.

No, it's not, it's a bunch of bull. First off William Mapother is not listed as a guest star. Second, thats Ana's arm. The camera pans out to her holding the gun. Come on!!! I know I'm not the only one with Tivo.

EDIT: I just saw the post by zimu. He is correct.

Does Shannon being able to see visions of Walt have something to do with Jack being able to see his dead father back in season 1?

Actually, I was poking around the Lost site (www.oceanic-air.com) and somehow I found a puzzle with the words "Ethan Rom" and you have to rearrange his name to "Other Man" - when you do that, it shows a quick flash of the scene where Walt gets kidnapped - he was one of the pirates that was on the boat.

Damn was he really?

How many Ethan Roms are there?

Watch the credits after the episode.

Also, she's holding it right handed, then lowers it, but you can't see which hand ends up with it. She would have had to fumble around with it a little to switch the main hand holding it, so we can assume it ended up in her right hand.
