yea, everyone was speculating that the guy Jack had to chose between on the operating table ... his (now) wife or the guy in the car accident ... was shannon's dad because of the last name.

turns out it was true!

interestingly enough, my dad thought that "other guy" in the hospital was john locke and claimed that he read a lot of articles that pointed out that fact. he even paused that gory scene on his tivo numerous times and the likeness to locke is pretty close. (i verified myself.)

the fact that the hospital is st. augustine's also has some meaning in all of it. the story of st. augustine is that he died, everyone thought he was dead, and he emerged as an individual who was going to help others. i'm not sure how that correlates to locke's story, but it's an interesting theory if true.

i haven't asked my dad what he thought of the episode, but i'd be interesting to know what he thinks about it now.

this was a great time for Maggie Grace to leave the show. Obviously she's been getting offers and LOST has done all it can for her career... she will never be a "main" character... I would probably do the same career-wise - take the movie roles - if I were her.

the worst part about her shooting Shannon is that, a few minutes earlier in the show, she explicitly tells Michael "You think 1 bullet from a gun will do anything to stop the others? It won't do anything." and then she goes on, to fire 1 shot, at a person whom we are assuming, she thought was the "others", killing shannon.

hmm ... kinda fishy if you ask me ...

Technically, I don't think he actually admitted to seeing Walt. Because, clearly, Walt isn't literally running around the island blowing out candles and speaking backwards. If he did see Walt, maybe it was because admitting he believed her somehow tied him into whatever power she has to receive Walt's communications.

In any case, I think they left it so it could go either way depending on what will ultimately be most convenient for the continuation of the plot down the road. 🙂
