Just started my 10-day whirlwind tour of Gladden... Curukelborn is the name, hunting is my game. I couldn't decide which class I wanted to be.

Also just started a burglar last night... Dodmond, level 6. He's fun.

Still waiting on a buddy key if anyone has any friends in-game that hasn't given theirs out. Or for anybody purchasing the game after their 10-day trial. :)

Anyone that has played Everquest 2 (in its current state) and this can comment on which one is more fun?

Carmmond (lvl 7 dwarf)
Gladden
Guardian

Just fyi I'm running it on my Dell 9300 laptop, 6800 go, 1gig ram on high settings and its doing great on 1920X1200 so far.

EQ2 gets stale pretty quick. The graphics are okay, there's TONS of quests, but they don't usually advance a story... they're just there for xp and loot. EQ2 still brings modern computers to their knees on the "ultra high" settings, unfortunately without some of the higher settings, it looks like crap.

There's a bunch to explore in EQ2, but really no "point" in exploring. It's just a big world to go kill things in.

EQ2 as of about 6 months ago I can comment on... Not sure if there has been major changes from that point.

My Beef with EQ2 was:

1) Most of the classes overlapped heavily, in fact, the difference between many of the classes was pretty null in many case.

2) Armor - Everyone's armor looks the same... You either have had T1-6 or legendary or regular and therefore everything looked the same. A berserker, guardian, they all LOOKED indenticle at L60.

The good with EQ2:

1) Even though the classes overlapped, you had many alternates just to try them all... So, had a lot to pick from, even if they were more or less the same.

2) Graphics are incredable... However, I think LOTRO nudges it out for the win, but it does have a slightly more cartoony look. It certainly isn't retarded looking like WoW, though.

3) The quests that had voice overs were incredable... Not all of them had it and often only the starter towns, but despite that, it was a nice polished feature.

I assume I'm not the lucky winner? Blah. :D Everyone needs to give out buddy keys based on seniority.
Key sent!
Thanks! I've started the download, hopefully I'll be able to hop online with you guys this weekend. I'll be sure to start on the same server that you guys have listed in this thread.

My GF has 3 characters one is like level 40, she plays this non stop. I watch her sometimes, graphics seem cool, quests are okay but how do you people who play stand the boring ass combat? Excuse me, boring to me. The only Strategy seems to be which spell to cast (If you have them) I've never been able to play RPG's that have turn based combat, or whatever you'd call the combat here. You sure don't have much control over it, rhe Conan MMO that's due out has combos now that is what I want. RPG + MMO + Tekken = BAD ASS! Well I'm sure it's not going to be Tekken depth for combos, but for me any ways combos period will make it much more fun than pressing a mouse button and letting it do it's thing.

Search for Mount & Blade on google. It's free.

Sounds like you haven't tried Echoes of Faydwer expansion.

I just noticed this thread - I'm usually in OT. Turns out I'm on Gladden as well - Horton, 38 Hunter. If you find me online, mention ATOT :D

Cheers!

Well apparently they didn't like the name "Browneye" so they let me pick a new name, my new name is "Jzilla" champion on Gladden.

Much content for lower level players? With the new level cap being raised time and again my old characters will not be worth much.

Also, everyone a healer like before (I believe a certain subclass of druid became very popular for a while)?

I just upgraded to Vista and picked this game up, quit WoW a few months back and I am hungry for a fun new MMO experience. Okami has been feeding me recently, but I miss the human factor. I am installing it tonight and I will try to get on this 'Gladden' server with you guys, if its not full. Will post my main chars name, but I'll sure I'll try all the classes first to see where I fit in.

btw, what is the most 'needed' class right now. I wanted to play a hunter, but it looks like that is a REALLY popular class.

Hunter is probably the most poular class. Least popular would be Lore-Master then probably Captain or Burglar (incidentally my three characters are of those classes and they are all very fun). Minstrels are always in need as healers usually are, guardians are often needed to (I mean what group could not use a tank after all) but it all depends on what you want out of the game.

Do you plan on grouping a great deal or do you like to solo? Hunters are probably the best solo class while Captains/Burgs/Lore-masters are absolutely made for grouping. Guardians and Minstrels are probably the most often requested for grouping and Champions can do whatever they please.

Hope that helps a bit.

See you in game!

Cheers,
KT

Even if you have a buddy key, you still need to purchase the game right? Unless it's available for download somewhere for those with buddy keys?
