anyone else having a problem with it running slow, not server lag though. My GF was telling me she needs to upgrade to 2 gigs of memory because 1 gig isn't enough. Some idiots she plays with on there are putting the idea in her head she needs 2 gigs for it to run well. The Beta seemed to run pretty good, I'm wondering why the launch is so much worse. I told her it was probably server lag but she says "it's not" I don't play so I don't know much.

Most MMORPGS run much better with 2 gigs of ram.

but that doesn't explain how the beta ran well on her system and it goes live and is much worse, I told her it had to be server lag because code doesn't get worse after beta. I'm sure it would run better with 2 gigs, but it shouldn't run bad with 1 gig. It's not exactly a graphical powerhouse game.

I have no idea, I don't really know anything about code or any of that stuff. But, when I upgraded from 1 gig to 2 gigs a couple of years ago when I was into WoW, my performance improved drastically. So either way, she can't go wrong adding another gig of RAM, especially with how cheap it is now. At least if it doesn't fix the problem she'll have 2 gigs of RAM instead of 1.

Tell her to get her happy ass off the game and work for some money to buy another damn gig of memory for her computer... you are not married to her so you are not obligated to get her another gig of ram...

On to your question... yes it would help drastically if you get another gig of ram but without knowing how well she maintains her system with clean uninstalls, driver updates, defrag, etc. Also not knowing if she installed any new software recently, not knowing what graphics settings she is running at, not knowing if spyware is slowing her computer down, not knowing what type of processes she is running while playing the game. All I can say is post all that information and I can help you. ;)

Also a 9800 pro is not a very powerfull card... since the 9800 pro is bit down the graphic card series she should not expect it too run smooth since the computer does not exceed the required game requirements. I like to look at games at the minimum requirements mean you can play a slideshow game while the recommended means that it is still slow but manageable.

On the side note you can tell the difference between system lag and server lag by if your computer screen freezes and no keyboard keys produces any results on the screen then that is system lag while if you are playing and everything around your character stops, runs in circles, disappears, or freezes while you can still move around but not able to interact with the world than that is server lag.

What do you mean? It doesn't come with one free month?

I'm pretty sure it does. I know my CC does not get charged until May 30th.

Some of us have 10 day buddy keys (I mentioned this above) but unfortunately you will need to find a way to download the client. If you find a way to get the client I would be willing to donate my buddy key.

Cheers,
KT

Can't you download the entire game from just the client launcher? Almost all MMOs allow you to do it these days.

I picked up the game tonight and installed it my my Desktop (sig computer) and my laptop (GMA950). Turbine did an excellent job with the engine... When I ran the game on my laptop, it set everything to low automatically, but the best part? It is running at 60+ FPS. That means, I could turn up some of the options before I even dip into the 30's... I gotta say, what a great engine and it scales wonderfully. In other words, it runs better than WoW, at least twice as good. So if you have a GMA950 laptop and are worried about performance? Well, don't be, unless you expect to play the game on high settings. It actually does not look bad at low settings either, it looks better than WoW. Much praise for the support of intergrated graphics.

The game looks freaking amazing on ultra high and everything turned on the blur gives it such a nice effect, unlike oblivion where everything was all blured it gives a natural effect especially on mountain horizons with trees.

I got it last night. Game is a little bit of everything you liked in other MMOs minus the PVP. The Player vs Monster gimmick looks pretty interesting and doesn't really distract from the PVE world they've created to immerse you in the story line. Basically they decided to not whore out the franchise to sell subscriptions.

I'd give it a 9 out of 10. I need a new harddrive now. Oh, and it supports 3d sound via hardware. Can't really knock that, finally a game that takes advantage of my audigy 2 that I don't mind paying for.

been playing more now and I can say its a keeper, theres alot of quests the instanced quests with fellowships is awesome. the monster play is fun. THE WORLD IS HUGE, its also has a oblivion esque exploration type where you can find new landmarks and they appear on your map. Theres so many places to find and so many areas to explore. The areas are well differentiated with snow rain rocky beautiful landscapes. Nice urban towns or old towns the game is great... ill post some screenshots later.

It is not as big as you think... Don't be fooled. So far only the region of Eriador exists in the game... When I first purchased the game, I thought the same thing, but then realized the map is deceiving since you can zoom out to regions that you will not be able to go to until the expansion comes out.

With that said, the game is completely awesome. Epic quest line is great... The overall quality of the game is good. People are generally friendly. Havn't really ran into 12 year old noobs yelling "Learn 2 Play" or "U Noob!" or "QQ some more"... If I never hear those again, I'd die a happy man. Forums to be quite a bit more mature as well.

Anynway, as stated perviously, I play on Gladded, under the name "Drekkin". L21 currently. Great game guys, very fun.

Don't forget the free content update in June. Turbine's adding a new area. If you're on Brandywine, feel free to look me up. I listed my characters earlier in the thread. :)

The Retail comes with the Ultra High Textures that the Beta didn't. Not sure how the UHT work but that could be the difference there.
