Watchmen - 9/10 A little slow early on, but once it gets going I lost all track of time.

Slumdog Millionaire - 7/10 Good film, but not what I would call Best Picture of the year.

The Wrestler - 8/10 Not as good as Aronofsky's previous films, but a good story and great acting.

Rachel Getting Married - 6/10 Well acted but needs about 30 minutes cut from the running time.

My Sassy Girl (Hollywood version) - 1/10 One point for having elisha cuthbert in it, otherwise it is an epic fail of a remake (then again remakes usually do suck). So many things are wrong with this movie that I don't know where to begin. They managed to took the humor out of every single scene from the original and turned it into a, *gasp*, melodrama. Cuthbert was trying to act like a little 15 year old ALL THE TIME and I was like WTF.

Catch A Fire. Caught a bit of it a while ago on HBO and thought it looked interesting. So I added it to my blockbuster queue. Well it just arrived and wife and I just finished watching it. Absolutely loved it! Such a nice story, and the movie is very well done too. Found myself a bit teary eyed by the end.

Watchmen - 9.25/10. Like rainman said, its a little slow at first but it really puts a lot of the characters into perspective and gives you a great emotional feel to them. Definitely did not feel like I was in the theater for 3 hours...went by pretty quick. Girlfriend also enjoyed it and said she would give it a 8.5/10.

Leviathan - 2/10 (only got a 2 because I managed to get all the way through it, otherwise it would have got a 1/10)

FWIW: If you have Comcast on Demand HD, it is one of the free movies right now.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop - 1/10: Calling this a piece of crap is being far too kind.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes - 6/10: It was decent enough and I was able to look past a lot of the cheesiness to see what they were trying to do and say with this movie. I was amazed at how much more violent it was as compared to all of the previous films. Probably one of the best sequels out of the four, but still nowhere near as good as the original film.

Battle for the Planet of the Apes - 3/10: I found this one to be rather boring. I ended up falling asleep half way through, then watched the remainder while doing other things. I am glad I saw it since it was the final movie in the series, but not really much else to say here.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance - 5/10: This is the first Die Hard movie I have seen, so I'm not sure how this one ties in, if at all, with any of the previous films. It was decent enough for an action flick, though some of the scenes and scenarios were just stupid. I also thought it was a tad too long.

I Love You, Man - 7/10 - I wouldn't say any of the parts were rib-splitting hilarious, but the movie as a whole was amusing. Plus, we got to see the Incredible Hulk fight Jason Segel :p.

I thought the movie lacked soul and the characters felt boring and really stoic at most points. Although a fat guy kicking ass is usually a .

This one is a little more actiony than others and has some rather campy scenes like McClane versus a JSF F30B. The first two follow the classic formula of McClane versus bad guys in a big building. The third kind of deviates, but it has Samuel L Jackson, so that's bad ass.

Funny, we were debating between I Love You, Man and Paul Blart, but since it was opening night for 'Man' we didn't really feel like dealing with the large crowds. Bad choice on our part.

I thought 'Vengeance' started out pretty well (the sandwich-board scene was pretty funny) and I did enjoy Samuel L. as always, but it just became too ridiculous as the film progressed. I am interested to see the other films now though, for some reason, so I will probably rent them soon.

sad part is this is the first week Paul Blart dropped out of top ten since it opened... back in mid January!

I know! I actually said "well, it's made well over 100 million, it can't be THAT bad". I obviously grossly overestimated the movie-going public. :(

I rented and watched JCVD the other day. I'll give it a 7.5/10

Don't go in expecting your normal Van Damme movie.

Well the second movie showed up on Friday, but it was cracked in half, so I decided to just watch the 3rd one, which I already had on hand. They have just sent me a new copy of the 2nd movie and the 1st one should hopefully not be too far behind.

How is the most recent one? It seems as if that is the only one that is PG-13.

Badass Vs Computer Geeks. I have mixed feelings about it. I would say 6/10. Better than the last, but still not good. And if you think 3 was far-fetched, avoid newest :D

Heh, ok, thanks. I probably won't end up seeing it for a while anyway, but good to know.

Oh wow, I feel like an idiot... I commented on DH3 in regard to DH4 'cause for some reason, my mind saw DH: With a Vengeance and thought Live Free or Die Hard. The fourth one is a bit less believable than the third. Of course, my biggest annoyance was having a F-30B when they didn't even have the maiden flight of one yet (I saw it opening night) :p. But like I mentioned, the first two are... I guess you could say kind of Rambo-ish. It's John McClane versus terrorists in a building using only his wits and some ingenuity. Also, part of the third movie makes more sense when you watch the first one... 'cause the bad guy in the third movie is Hans Gruber's brother (Hans was the bad guy in the original Die Hard).

Yeah, I was a wee bit confused reading your first response as well...

[SPOILERS for the uninitiated]:

Vengeance is actually my favorite. Don't know why....I just really dig it. It has Jeremy Irons, so aside from the original it has the only other good villain.

The first one is the best, of course. Alan Rickman = win. classic, classic character. full of douchebaggy secondary characters, Carl Winslow eating donuts, yet again, crazy German terrorist somehow survives ~42 stories of a building exploding and collapsing onto his already-mangled husk of a body...what's not to love?

2...not so good. Loved it when I was a kid, but I can say that about a lot of flicks. 4th one was OK...but yeah, too silly. no good payoff at the end, like the others. Mac kid didn't eat it and Villain = IT programming dork? Sorry, no.

Eagle Eye...wife liked it better than me. 5/10. very shallow

Mr. Magoriums Emporium... 8/10 quite a nice little movie. watched it with my daughter. pleasantly surprised and of course miss portman is always nice to see.

wrestler. ole ruff is the alternate title...good movie, not quite emotional enough for the content it tried to hinge upon. good performances, even daring with miss tomei as an aged stripper.. 7/10...not really oscar worthy.

the counterfeiters. - great nazi movie. paced well, great storyline, performances on line with excellence, cinematography was great..and the ending :) 9/10

talk to her - foreign film with an untouched subject matter...very well done, very romatic esque, yet ethically challenging... 9/10

.45, with Milla Jovovich, Angus Macfadyen and Sarah Strange.

It only got a 5.5/10 rating on imdb, so I wasn't expecting all that much, but I loved it. I'd give it an 8.5.

It's a gritty "character study" of down and dirty dirtballs, with enough side humor and sex and violence to satisfy any male. I thought it was a minor league gem myself.

It's played straight, so the genuine "humor" is not corny or super-imposed and doesn't overwhelm the plot line, and the violence is not the phony-as-hell, gratuitous, comic book zomg/special effects/gushing blood porn type, but flows naturally from the story and fits right in, and the same with the sex.

The move stayed real the whole way through. I desperately appreciate that.

Great cast, fine acting.
