Doesn't anyone see how crazy it is that if I were to decide to start a bar that was for only smokers that the law would prohibit it?

You missed the part where the thug is not likely to be armed (with a firearm) due to low usage of guns in violent crimes. You'll still get robbed by a thug, but he will have a knife or something. Or just look mean. Anyway I'll take robbed by a thug over murdered by a thug.

Growing up, I lived in a town where all the restaurants had smoking and non-smoking sections, and it was a complete joke. Only about a third of them had any sort of separate ventilation system. And this ventilation system did not help if you were seated near the bar or smoking section, where despite best efforts, smoke would still cause allergic reactions as a kid. So it's not really a matter of choosing to go to a restaurant that had smoking or not, because all of them did. I suspect a large portion of georgia is the same way.

It's simply about personal freedoms, nothing more. The govt. feels it has the right to remove my rights and freedoms as it sees fit. That's not the way govt was intended.
If I want to go down in a smoke filled oblivian than that is my choice and you should support my free will. You don't have to like it, the solution is very simple, don't come around our smoking establishments and your problem is solved.

You missed the numerous other threads on this topic where it's been throughly proven that no matter which way you cut it the UK's crime and violence rates are far above america and the vast majority of the civilized world.
Florida did it a while back (Clean Indoor Air Act) and it's based on protecting employees rather than customers. IMO it's a good law. It's no different than banning smoking on air travel.
Smokers make up a minority of the population. Why should non-smokers have to put up with the effects of their habit? It's so much nicer to go to a restaurant without leaving smelling of smoke even though you were in the non-smoking section. Non-smoking sections don't work unless they are physically separated and on different ventilation systems.
The argument that the gov't shouldn't be able to tell private establisments how they can run their business is invalid. There are many laws and regulations that do just that - this is just another one.
