If Kamala is in Houston Friday to boost Colin Allred's chances of beating Cruz, I'd have to say their internal polling must be feeling overall positive about the swing states they need. These two weeks can't go by fast enough.

I think that's disinformation. In California, which WAS suffering severe drought at the time, restaurants were forbidden from dispensing free water without being asked (at least in some places). Once asked, water was supplied. Perhaps this is still the case. There is not a charge for water AFAIK in restaurants.

However, drought in the west is a monstrously greater issue than in the east in America. Currently, most of California is not in drought conditions. Reservoirs are in mostly great shape AFAIK. Still, drought is so common here that most people are so familiar with water saving techniques that it's second nature. It's certainly the case with me.

Yeah, saving water by not providing it unless asked is 100% pissing in the ocean of the California water program.

As far as disinformation, he was just there and I don't think he was lying about it. He bikes through Europe for 3 weeks every August and lived there for a few years, I don't think he has an agenda against it. Might it might be the type of places he goes or where he is at. I know there is one place on South Beach that charges for water (that I will never go back to, but it is insanely popular).

I was also just on the Tennessee side of the Smoky Mountains, and couldn't believe how low all the rivers and waterfalls were, I guess it was really dry before Helene and most of the heavy rain was on the NC side.

Haven't seen any Cruz ads at all, but it's funny that we did have one Cruz canvasser (looked like a college student). First time in his years campaigning in TX that I've seen that, but we've had tons of Dem canvassers over the years. I'm not sure I can draw a conclusion, but I'd like to think that means Cruz is scared.

I'm not so sure about that. Trump is fairly unique in his ability to have negative stories slide off him. It's hard to see someone like JD Vance gathering the rest of the Trump coalition and running with it in 2028.

I don't necessarily think they need a leader. There is enough of the crazy that's already been spread around that the remains will simply push on. Remember, he's a symptom and not the cause.

But it will weaken Trump, make him look like lasting loser and rotting roadkill. I don't think JD Vance will ever look electable. Project 2025 will look like detritus of the last failure to gain the Oval Office. Those voters' attitudes aren't going to remain the same without their Trump cult happening. He'll likely keep saying he was cheated again. Many will claim to believe that. It's Trump's legacy of shame, he'll always be regarded as a rat in retrospect by honest people. But the people who prefer their own version of history? What can you do? Lots of people believe what they want regardless of evidence. It's always been that way.

As long as they stay home and don’t vote, then I’d consider that a win. Makes it that much tougher for Trump to make up for those non-votes.
