I fail. :(

Because people are paid to go on the internet and try to downplay everything that is against them. Additionally, people can be VERY afraid of anything that is not on their "side" of politics. It is a sad system and people work VERY hard to try to downplay and spin everything against them. It runs rampant on these forums and many many others.

I guess.

Yeah, it is just coincidence that everything related to politics that is not part of the republican parties interests immediately gets spammed with 0 star ratings...

No one is paid to go on the internet to viral market or tow a line... Because seriously.. no one makes money or has a vested interest in healthcare staying the way it is in the U.S.

Cool! We need more people who question nothing and hope for the best. Who needs to hold anyone responsible for anything when we let presidents get off after being caught on video committing treason?

Yeah, it's cool that everyone is oblivious to the obvious.. which only strengthens their positions... Who would expect the obvious? Not Americans. They question nothing.

Hey, how do you think Hitler got so far? People refusing to admit seeing the obvious. Extreme example, but absolutely true. The ignorant are en masse. To say so brands you a "conspiracy theoriest" which works exactly in these peoples' favor.

Perhaps you are right and our education system isn't so great. They don't teach history well.

You're purposefully ignoring the point of my post. The same thing that resulted in generic prescriptions going for $5 at Wal-Mart also occurs with medications elsewhere like for AIDs. Prices eventually come down. Especially as new drugs enter the market and patents run out.

YOU CAN NOT WAIT FOR "eventually" WHEN YOU NEED MEDICATION NOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

You have NO CHOICE when you NEED IT NOW!

This isn't complicated. Stop being braindead for the love of god.

Obviously it is too complicated for you as not every medication for every disease or illness is priced at extreme premiums that only a few can afford. Maybe the newer and/or experimental medicines but medicines that have already been out on the market for a while are not.

I recall reading an article about an AIDs patient asking his doctor why he wasn't prescribed some treatment that just came out. The doctor responded that the treatment that he did prescribe can work just as good, is cheaper, and is readily available. The treatment that the doctor prescribed did, in fact, end up working well for the patient too.

i generally don't support it, but it's a necessary evil. i wish we could opt out of it to open up the market.

I pay the equivalent of $300 a month for generics that I need to survive.. do you think I should stop them until they come down in price?

Please tell me some of the illnesses and diseases that are cheap to treat with generics.

Have you seen the movie? You keep dodging the question.. strange!

I just doubt they're getting paid to do it. Why would the republican party pay people to defend their policies when there are already 50 millions people on the net doing it for free?

Also, for decent insurance for a family of 3 is about $1000 a month without an employer subsidizing. $12k a year is what percent of the average salary? Average salary is $40k for a family.. hmm.. looks like over 25% to me!

Anyone who doesn't think that our system is broken is an idiot. Our current health care system is not a real market. Markets rely on individual consumers purchasing goods and services from a variety of competing providers. This is not our system. In the US it is the EMPLOYER, and not the individual health care consumer who makes the decision on what health insurer(s) they receive. This means that there is NO FUCKING INCENTIVE for the insurers to improve service. In a real market, the health care consumers would change providers once they received lousy service, looking for a better insurer. The only incentive is for insurers to lower their prices (employers like low prices) but not on quality of service..

Our health care system does not work because it is not capitalism, owing to its absence of real markets. What libertarians don't understand is that actual, functioning markets require laws enforced by the state. Property rights, information rights, and rules on fair trading practices are all requirements for proper markets and it is the state that recognizes and enforces them. If someone said they had a plan to somehow fix our health care system and turn it into some kind of functioning market with individuals make their own decisions on health care providers, then I would support it.

That's why I am voting for Democratic president. The Plans of ALL THREE DEMOCRATIC plans INCLUDE PRIVATE INSURANCE OPTIONS. The Democrats include market solutions in their plans, while the current system has a failed market. The Democrats do not want socialism (absolute state control), they just want a market system that works. This requires state action.

Edit: Moore is too ridiculous to take at face value.

You're full of it. No, really. I'm sorry to hear that you have to pay so much for medication but you're being an ass if you think I'm suggesting that you stop taking the medicine. But guess what, under Socialized Health Care, either you pay through higher taxes or reduced availability of medicine or someone else pays for you. Regardless, the cost is still there.

Generics for illnesses/diseases that I've personally encountered? Asthma (depending on the medication), Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure. Obviously, medication for things like cancer and AIDs will be higher because these are more extreme illnesses/diseases.

And no, I haven't seen Sicko in its entirety. I've seen a few bits and pieces. I also have no desire to see Sicko in full because Moore is a Socialist Propagandist. He manipulates facts, tells half-truths, and out-right lies depending on the situation to fit whatever angle he is pushing. He did it with Bowling for Columbine (seen). He did it with Fahrenheit 9/11 (half seen). He did it with Sicko.

And before you insinuate that I'm being paid by the RNC to post here...I'm an independent and lean more Libertarian than anything else.

Yeah, maybe you should watch the film before commenting on it.

I think that's usually how it works.

1. Watch film.
2. Comment on said film.

Stop calling it socialized health care. Have you actually read any of the Democratic plans? Socialized medicine is single payer medicine. No one who has a chance of changing our health care system is call for a single payer set up. Everyone wants to use private health insurers, just with stricter rules. They want reform, not socialism.

Of course, you just seem like an uninformed nut who shouts socialism whenever someone wants a law passed.

Are we talking about the Democrats or are we talking about Michael Moore in this thread? Last I checked, Moore was calling for Socialized Health Care.

If you want to talk about the Dem plans we can. But you're sounding like an ill-mannered nut when I'm discussing the original topic of this thread and you are calling me names over it.

Neither does he, yet he's making an assumption.

Guilty conscience?

Oh, I could get my prescription meds from Walmart? Oh wait.. they don't include any of mine... Do they sell Aids prescriptions for $5 instead of thousands?

I pay the equivalent of $300 a month for generics that I need to survive.. do you think I should stop them until they come down in price?

Please tell me some of the illnesses and diseases that are cheap to treat with generics.

Have you seen the movie? You keep dodging the question.. strange!

Most of Sicko shows case studies of just how bad our system is. Then it shows Canada, England, France, and Cuba's systems, which, however many faults they may have, do much more on less. He talks up socialized insurance and Socialized medicine, but his criticisms of our system are still sound.

So, he does a great job at describing how awful, but does a bad job of picking a solution. This makes his work good and bad at the same time, not just a socialist propagandist.

The Democrats agree with Moore on just how pathetic our system really is, but disagree with him on how to fix it.

Your hyperbolic invective towards Moore is over the top.
