May I suggest a drink, bourbon perhaps?

Sorta started as a joke but it works for persistent back pains and PTSD. (something happened 4 years ago.. you can go back into the posts and dig it up if you want but I really don't want to).

But I don't overdo it.. just 1 bourbon and diet coke a night.. so I'm not a full blown alcoholic but I have been surprised that it does actually help!

I'm a sweet tooth so I prefer these.. but you can find your own brand..

It really can be relaxing though! 😉

Yeah I don't overdo it with the alcohol.. I'm not trying to get high.. many would accuse me of just drinking diet coke and lacing it with alcohol but even a little bit (3 teaspoons) helps.

My 1 liter bourbon bottle lasts like 5-6 months.

The joke it started with was trying the Goldfinger "Mint Julep" but then I noticed my back wasn't hurting.. which made me curious.


Bought a bottle of bourbon to experiment, lowered the amount of bourbon considerably - 3 teaspoons, filled the glass with diet coke and again the pain went away and over time I noticed it does relax me as well, exactly like you said.

If I'm any consolation.. you can try it without overdoing it -- like don't make it a cocktail.. just a relaxer. 😉

This has been the case for a while now. Most of the debate is about the size of the R house majority. Some people think 10-15 seats, others 15-25ish.

The functionality of that majority is in question however since none of them seem to agree on any substantive plans for their power besides maybe impeaching Biden over nonsense, crashing into the debt ceiling over SS/Medicare spending, and multiple investigations into Hunter Biden. McCarthy even if he becomes speaker doesn't really wield the power and influence to guide his caucus in any particular direction.

I would laugh though if the GOP did manage to take the Senate and all the House GOP do for two years is make them hold bullshit impeachment trials of Biden and various cabinet officials.
 
I don't want to make a firm prediction yet, but I'm seeing some ... interesting data points that I need to look into further. I think the house won't be nearly as bad as some think. Might be surprising actually.
 
I think we're going to get a lot of weird data where people refuse to vote for a senator (Walker), but will vote for the Governor (Kemp) or other wacky situations like in AZ where it's just a shit show from the top down and anyone reasonable just votes local and skips the rest. Plus add in record registration of unknown (at this point) motivation and polls are basically useless. It's all just going to feed into the big lie when results don't match polls.
 
The only elections I’m worried about are Secretary of State and similar positions that confirms elections.

I am curious as to how many new election deniers we may have.

Yes, agree. I think polls are going to wildly off this cycle due to many factors. New registrations and lack of polling response for example. You're going to see things like McMullin winning in UT as a result.
 
Nobody really knows, but my prediction is that Reps will take both the House and the Senate. The polls are showing the House going Republican and the Senate a toss up. However, recent elections have shown Reps doing better than the polls indicate, and the Reps are gaining in a lot of races in which they were initially well behind. Both very bad signs.

Personally, I think the Dems are doing a terrible job politically. They need to address how they intend to solve the very real problems of inflation, crime, and immigration. Instead, every response to Republican attack ads in these areas is "yea, but they want to ban abortion." They made a lot of political capital on this initially, but polls have repeatedly shown it 3rd or 4th in order of importance.

Dems are doing a bad job? 2 Dems are blocking Biden from doing what he wants. And as for the midterms, the record early voting turnout begs to differ.

The ONLY good news I see is that the Republicans are doing even worse.

I really do think the Dems have screwed up royally with "messaging" focusing 90% on abortion and I'm pretty sure Nov 8th will be a disaster nationally. (hope to be mistaken)

Arizona's white HoA public schools and the private school system goes hard in supporting the confederacy. My time in GS/HS social studies/history had civil war and civil rights movement as being a footnote. Where the government gave them rights just because they complained too much. Remember the language of Arizona against Obama's fast track of common core:
"We should "nullify" their actions and "restore our states rights" and "protect our state sovereignty!"

Biden is doing as well as can be expected with his agenda considering the way congress is aligned. That is not what I am saying. What I am saying is they are doing a poor job of addressing anything but abortion. I want to hear them say: Yea, the Border is a mess. Give is the exact numbers of people crossing and how it is being handled. Say: this is our plan to solve the problem. If the Reps are blocking legislation, then say so. Same with inflation and crime. Acknowledge there is a problem, and present a plan to solve it. And no, I dont consider the "Inflation Reduction Act", although cleverly named, a plan to reduce inflation, except in a few very limited areas. Address the Rep attack ads directly and present the real facts and a plan to improve things where there is a legitimate issue.

The Dems, if anything, to use a sports term, "peaked too early". They got a big boost from the Roe V Wade decision, but are losing momentum now. That boost is starting to fade, while we are reminded of inflation every time we go to the grocery store. Gas prices have moderated somewhat, and arent really that bad compared to before the pandemic, but food prices are insane. I am also expecting heating costs this winter to be a big shock.
