Yea? I mean. What?
Well, the global warming crisis coupled with the end of fossil fuel driven economic expansion is going to result in burgeoning catastrophes that will be impossible to ignore to put it mildly. It doesn't mean that sanity will rule, but complacency won't be easy to say the least.

There are a lot of other issues too: immigration, inflation, law and order. Abortion ranks, IIRC, third or fourth in importance in most polls of what the issues are. Hell, the Dems should even have attacked the Reps on wanting to destroy SS and Medicare. They *will* come after both if they get both houses in the midterms. Hopefully, there will be enough Dems in the Senate to block new legislation, but who knows what they might do by executive order if Trump wins in 24.
All the D ads are focused on abortion. None seem to be calling out the impending attack on SS and Medicare. None talk of further erosion of voting rights or that R candidates are blatantly talking about controlling election outcomes. None point out that corporations are making record profits at a time that inflation is high. The D party is missing so many keys points.

I had thought we were a few generations away from Republican control leading to things being bad enough for riots. Now I feel we are closer than that to a failure of democracy, but apathy abounds when gas is cheap. Every fucker who is voting for this shit can eat a bag of dicks. When they bitch about anything from here on out, they will just get a "fuck off." I am done explaining to Republican voters that their lack of empathy and poor logic is what has put us on this path.

In such situations though poeple tend to flock to a strong leader so it makes it more likely we fall to fascism under such conditions.

However, fascism won't do well in handling the problems.

New York Times article at this moment on home page says Ds are fighting back. This link should work for 14 days, i.e. until Nov. 16, 2022:

In the last 50 years what have the Republicans done for the common person?

Trump gave us the most glorious economy with the best jobs and highest wages ever seen on this planet or beyond. /Foxnews.
Seriously, if you have to ask, you've never asked a Republican the question. Democrats are not going to tell you why Republicans vote Republican.
You need someone whose head is firmly planted in their reality, not yours.

Yea but by the time they realize things aren't improving, it's hard to get them out.

If things don't improve, the fascists just have to fascist harder! They'll continue to blame scapegoats, someone "other", until Genocide is the only option. And they'll cheer it on. Same behavior as sacrificing people to volcanoes and shit. Exact same behavior. Stop pretending humans are rational and you'll understand what comes next. History should be your guide.

Newsom nails it.

Yea, the quote in there from Bernie is the best one. Democrats have to counteract the attacks from the Reps on the economy, "open borders" being over-run by drug dealers and sex traffickers, and law and order (defund the police). They really have to counter the Reps continued claims (false from all I can find) that the proposed infrastructure bill or the passed "Inflation Reduction Act" will raise taxes on middle class taxpayers. This narrative is pounded endlessly in the races here in MN, and the Dems have not countered it.

I said it a month ago, wtf is wrong with Dems not tackling the economy. It's a global issue. If you can't get that message out then try harder. Dems think these answers are self-evident since it is just basic critical thinking and information, but they gotta understand the majority of the population is dumb and short-sighted, only sees issues in a micro lens vs a macro lens.

In a deep blue state in a deep blue area so my vote doesn't mean much but for the first time in my life I voted straight ticket Democrat.

Couple operational positions the incumbent dem really... really sucks. Then I went to read the profile for the Rep challenger because hey a lean mean pro-business Insurance commish or a STEM focused Supe of Education might be what we need but...

MAGA Trump Humping Retard and Culture Warrior Moron opposition candidates for both positions respectively.

Created the EPA and OSHA. Ended the Vietnam war.

EPA was created 53 years ago.
OSHA 52 years ago.

I'll give you Vietnam, but that end started 54 years ago and finished 49 years ago.

The point here is, Nixon was the last semi-sane Republican who was not co-opted by the John Birch/Goldwater trickle down lunatics.

The last sane Republican president was Eisenhower.
