The only person approaching this with a sense of privilege is Tlaib. She represents Michigan, not Palestine. As a Congresswoman she “may” have a legitimate reason to visit Israel, and Israel as a sovereign nation has a right to deny political grandstanding from a politician seeking social media moments instead of solutions. I read the quote. Tlaib is ordering off the wrong menu.

You are right a sovereign state has the right to do anything they please. But how sovereign can a state be that accepts billions of aid from another country? If this was any another country, I'm sure you'd be the first to make the argument that a prerequisite of that aid should be allowing in the duly elected leaders of that country. Lastly, if Israel isn't an apartheid state, how can they determine who visits the Palestinians? Tlaib is a child of Palestinians, where is her right to go back to her parents home? Lastly, do you think it is appropriate that the Israeli government gets to determine what politicians speak for the Palestinian people or visit the Palestinians? Yes, Yes, Tlaib is definitely privileged. Like all things, in this new era of ours. The racists call those who call them racists, racist and the privileged call those who call them privileged, privileged. The billions of dollars in aid that Israel receives may have certain caveats, but Palestine is not one of them. She can go back to her parents’ home at any time. As an elected representative of our government, she should also be mindful of our foreign policy. Last I checked, America from a diplomatic standpoint does not support boycotts of Israel. She will have to find another venue for a photo opp.

Again though, the issue here is the president of the United States siding with a foreign power against our elected representatives. This is utterly unacceptable.

Israel can deny entry to anyone it wants and I understand its desire to hide the fact that it's an apartheid ethnostate because that's super embarrassing! That doesn't mean the US government should endorse it though.

Israel is an ally to the United States. The President sided with an ally in opposition to an elected representative with her own personal agenda.

Because our government has never pushed for the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state, and the two-state solution as an interim compromise never worked.

Presidents, advisors, the State Department, the CIA, the Pentagon. Different departments under State and DoD actually write extensive white papers on different regions and countries that serve as foreign policy playbooks. I expect neither Trump nor Tleib have read many of them. They’s too busy screwing around on Twitter.

Exactly, the president sided with a foreign nation over members of the US government because they say mean things about him. Israel has the right and the ability to exclude anyone they want from their territory. Trump could have either said nothing or simply recognized their right to do that. Instead, he personally goaded Israel's government into excluding members of the US government. I mean can you imagine any president ever coming out and telling another country that they should refuse entry to members of a coequal branch of the US government?

Honestly this is another good reason to open an impeachment inquiry all by itself. The amount of shame Trump has brought on the office just gets worse every day.

It's not the latest buzzword, Israel has been referred to as an apartheid state for decades now because... well... it is. I honestly don't know why people keep disputing this other than they don't want to acknowledge a policy with such a shameful history is being pursued by a country they want to side with.

As for how its different well just look at the West Bank and Gaza, which have been converted into de facto concentration camps.

I would counter that a member of the US government failed to differentiate her personal politics from her official duties.

It became fashionable in the 90s to criticize Israel while completely ignoring the chain of events that led to the Palestinian predicament. The UK, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Syria shoulder far more blame than Israel.
