I guess I am old fashioned. I am shocked that the OP is even considering it.

Honestly, I find belly button rings sexy as hell. Now if you want me looking at your daughter and finding her sexy, by all means go for it. (But I won't, since she's not even 13).

Personally, it's far too young i think.

I guess i'm a bit old fashioned, plus i think they look skanky as all hell...

OP: a belly button ring IS an ornament to attract the opposite sex, to wear it she will be wearing midriff baring tops...she's 13 for crying out loud.

EDIT: don't mind me tho, i'll raise my kids teh way i want, and Nebor (if he ever gets laid) will tart his girls up & encourage them to shag as many boys as possible (with birth control of course ;))...at 12...kids are having sex younger & younger these days *shakes head* ;)

And more a year or two later. Well... she probably won't tell you about that one.

More important than a belly button ring is BIRTH CONTROL. In a year or two, you and your wife should start asking her every month if she wants to start on the pill. That's responsible parenting.

Eh, its debatable. Theres plenty of abstaining young women as well. Sex at 14/15 is pushing it. Especially 14, unless his daughters a skank, which I doubt.

Quite the opposite for me, actually. I am more attracted to a girl who doesn't dress like that, generally.

Nothing says "trash" like tounge studs, belly & lip rings, and the lower back "bitch" tat.
Not just "No" but "HELL NO" .
Tell her it'll give her something to live for. When she's 18, she can shave her head, paint it blue and install sockets for antennas.

Here's a suggestion for the crew led by Nebor, the 'give them birth control at 8 years old group', how about you take some real responsibility as a parent, and bring them up with a good code of moral values, some common sense, and decent sexual education? If that's too hard for you, then you don;t deserve to be a parent as far as i'm concerned. (Not that any of you will actually ever get laid, let alone have kids ;))

Putting them on birth control at increasingly younger ages is simply dodging your responsiblity as a parent, and of course it's going to encourage them to fsck around

If she wants to be like a wh0re at age 13, she can get the belly ring.

(please note the sarcasm, I would not want my daughter to act like a wh0re, no offense to you)

I would say that taking responsibility as a parent means preparing them for the real world, not the perfect virginal world you'd like them to live in. Kids have sex. Better that they do it with protection that without. It's just being pragmatic.

As far as a moral code is concerned, I don't feel that sex and morality are in any way related, except in situations where one party is harmed against their will.

As far as getting laid, I'm somewhere in the triple digits of male and female sex partners. Probably because daddy didn't hug me enough. :D

I'll never have kids though. I'm way too selfish, concieted and ego-centric. I would screw up a kid so bad, it's not even funny. That doesn't necessarily disqualify my advice on this particular set of issues though.

This has turned into a interesting converstation. I had no idea a belly ring is a gateway piercing to nipple rings, dressing like a slut and being a whore. I guess i should back up and actually say that getting her ears pierced at 10 was the real gateway to damnation.

WTF. 14/15. I honestly frown upon those having sex at such a young age.

Keep her away from this stuff for now. You can say you need to give kids freedom all you want, but you have the upper ground here. So long as she lives under your roof, she needs to follow your rules. You aren't being too harsh by saying no.

You can't really get rid of a piercing you don't like.

Get over yourself mate.

You obviously have no problem with it, so get her the ring, put her on birth control, and get her out there.

Some of us don't agree with you allowing your daughter to 'sex herself up' when she's just turning 13, but ignore us, we're old fashioned & boring ;)

& if you can't see the difference between an ear piercing & a belly-button ring (one which basically all women in society have, and which looks classy & pretty, and the other which has become synonomous with trashy chicks, alongside those lower back tats) then good luck with ya...at least she doesn't want a tattoo, but it sounds like you'd be fine with that too...

My mom had a rule I'm sticking to. You can do whatever you want when you're eighteen. ask her if five year olds are old. 'Cause honey five years isn't a long time to wait. Now don't ask again.

I'm with Mosh on this one. They should be in burqas until at least the age of 25, if not ever. In fact, I don't think the Taliban went far enough...

you have a responsibility as a parent to educate a child in such a way that they make intelligent decisions. fvcking like a rabbit at the age of 13, with or without any sort of birth control, is one of the most retarded ideas ever. i mean, cause this girl will definitely be "in love" and stay together with her supporting bf for all eternity, right?:disgust:

fact of the matter is that kids cannot handle sex. they may be physically mature, but they are in no way socially, mentally, or financially mature enough to engage in sexual activity. all they know is that they want to fvck, and they want to now. they totally ignore any sort of consequence, and that, quite frankly, is absolutely disastrous.

I know all of that. They don't understand the consequences, so a parent should take measures to eliminate those consequences. That goes for all parts of their lives: birth control, legal battles, school problems, etc.

I'd make sure to teach my daughter that there's no such thing as love, and that boys just want her for her body. That doesn't preclude taking measures to prevent pregnancy, which is a big problem in the scheme of things. A couple of pills is a lot less headache than an abortion.

Know a girl who got laid in 6th grade, had no belly ring, but you can guess what she is now  Also knew a girl in 8th grade who got a belly ring, shes doing alright now..
