You can unlock your car with On-star but they still cant figure out where a stolen computer is when it is turned on???? Life is not fair.

How would something called "Contents Insurance" cover either of those situations? It really covers anything you take around with you? That's insane. What stops people from just lying about losing things?

Contents insurance covers the contents in your home, but you can pay extra for what you carry about with you, most good contents insurance providers have some kind of personal item insurance included.

Ph.D. student... so clearly I have little association with reality.

also: Thank's zinfamous.

I got some stylusi for the iPad but they were a little 'soft'.

The Thinkpad Tablet uses a digitizer pen, which is completely separate from the capacitive touch that is built in for your fingers. Using a capacitive stylus with an iPad or other tablet will get your pretty crappy results. With a digitizer pen, it's as close to pen and paper as you can get with an electronic device.

i remember this kid who got knifed to death for his Nike shoes. i think they were air pumps even. Its all about who wants it more.

Fucking liar "OH, I lost my million dollars.. it was on my person, INSURANCE PLEASE!!!111"

While he is a derailing troll, I find it weird that you guys don't think this kind of insurance exists. Here in NZ contents insurance covers all of your ordinary possessions, so if you lose an expensive camera or phone you're completely entitled to claim on it. The excess is normally in the $200-$300 range, making a claim worthwhile for expensive goods.

How do you "lose" a rolex and a DSLR? Not trying to be a dick...but seriously how to do actually misplace something that valuable?

That being said, there's not a replacement insurance available in the US like that. We have renter's or homeowners insurance but that really only covers things in your home or maybe your car. And there's usually a decent sized deductable...$500+ which is almost the replacement cost of of a lower end iPad.

because it was a fake rolex

You guys don't have content insurance in the states? Granted I didn't know of the concept till a few years back when my father had a bunch of stuff stolen from him while he was on holiday. Camcorder, cell phone and a number of other smaller things. He had content insurance, claimed about $1000 and got the money less maybe a 2-$300 deductible. He can't even remember if he had to show any proof of purchase, in other words they didn't give him any hassle at all.
