Not going to help. I imagine petty theft on a university campus would be so common they would NOT want to dig through the "tapes" to bother with it.

lol, dude; I implement solutions at the University level. They need cameras. They take security seriously.

The insurance companies here won't ask for serial numbers and photos, they they'll certainly support your claim. They'll definitely ask for receipts where possible, but they'll also understand that people don't always keep receipts for everything.

No one needs a receipt for your abacus made out of vines and coconuts.

Hum... The world must be much more honest than I thought.

Maybe it's because I grew up around poor-people that would intentionally get into car wrecks in-order to sue for insurance money.

Or maybe it's cause you've never filed an insurance claim? Not that I have personally but I've seen and heard other examples where money was given pretty freely. Again they likely don't do this with everyone. I'm sure they profile their customers carefully and may be assholes to those that raise red flags. But it's not that unusual otherwise to get money from a claim for most things.

For example when our basement was flooded my father had about 100 books that were damaged. They could have gone through every one of them and assessed a value. Instead they just used a rough estimate and gave him much more for them that they were actually worth. We also claimed a number of other things that were only very slightly damaged. They could have easily argued a number of things but didn't. We ended up with a nicer basement than we started with.

I know my father didn't have to do much when he claimed his camcorder, cell phone and other stuff. He can't even remember if they asked for a receipt. I know he never document the serial numbers or took pics of the stuff. That was about a $1000 claim and his deductible was something like 2 to $300. So yup it was worth it there, and would be for lots of things.

they didnt raise his premiums and gave him full value off the bat? minus deductable i mean?
decent insurance co if so. many usually try to give you no more than 80% of value. Some try to just send you a crappy check in hopes you cash it and it says on the check you basically accept as done deal....my g/f made that mistake once and got ripped off big time. they sent her an $800 check, then found the cheapest place to fix the damage costed over $2k

Likewise, a co worker had his roof blown off during a storm..stat farm insurance adjuster told him it was an act of god. he had to fight it for a while to get his money...maybe some adjusters are just dicks

as for the reciepts and photos' i didnt say it was a must, i said it was for protection of your own, so you can better obtain the full amount and not deal with any potential BS. You never really know when an insurance co tries to pull one on ya, but if it were to happen it would be quite a hassle. better safe than sorry
