Now what does all that come in handy for? :0 If you're accessing these items once a day, then I can agree it's handy, but I can't fathom how a heat shield comes in handy :)

As I said, it was a hobby. I enjoyed going to the shooting range. I bought a shotgun and turned it into something that was more fun at the range. The same can be said about my two rifles. I was lucky to have such a hobby.

The simple fact remains that my neighborhood was untouched because of people like me with guns. Homes and families just a few blocks away did not fair as well.

I started off with a small revolver (don't know what kind). Then I worked my way up to a Beretta 9mm, and then I shot my buddy's glock 45. I want to go back ASAP and shoot some more.

My gf, as anti-gun as she is, didnt have a problem with me going, just as long as I never consider owning one.

My GF told me the same thing. I told her to have my sammich ready when I get back from buying my gun. ;)

Anyone who says that guns are "outdated" or that "it can't happen in this day and age" is, quite frankly, ignorant of history and living in denial. They actually believe the mantra, "We're from the government, and we're here to help!"

As the honorable Ronald Reagan said, those are the 9 most terrifying words in the English language.

That sounds about right.

Any one of my firearms is worth more than the lives of those who would take them from me or who say I should not have them. That is why I keep them loaded and ready to go.

Fuck dividing ammo and guns. Guns don't jump up and fire by themselves. I keep a loaded (round in the chamber) handgun in a drawer by my bed with nothing else in it. My wife keeps a loaded (no round in the chamber) handgun in her drawer.

Every single one of my rifles and handguns are loaded and the ammo is nearby and readily accessable, just in case.

I even have a couple of CS grenades that may come in handy right there with the stuff. :D

Wow, you must really live in fear or in a crap neighborhood. I didn't think Oregon was a bad place to live and had a low crime rate. I can't imagine what kind of stuff you'd have in your home if you lived in say NYC.

We live prepared. Not scared. I haven't cleared my house, or even thought anything was amiss in years.

LOL! Prepared for what? Red Dawn and the invasion of Soviets? I can understand you gun lovers thinking that you need to have a gun, but to have a loaded gun in every room along with grenades is just bizarre. You're like alcoholics who make sure there is a bottle in reach at all times, except in this case you're just replacing the bottle with a gun.

I don't understand the appeal of guns either; I don't own & have never fired one. But I have no problem with others exercising their constitutional rights to own them. I have some weird hobbies myself ( World of Warcraft  ), and much like guns, there are those who are so afraid of the different and unknown they'd like to ban or at least further regulate video games, so there's a hint of a parallel there. You're the frightening ones. The intolerants; the FUD people.

Your responses hint at a deeper issue, you might want to seek help.

Maybe playing WOW has robbed you of your sense of reality. Think, before coming to conclusion.

There is no deeper issue - I don't drink, boob.

Intolerant? I don't care if you pussies own guns or not, but to say that you have them to be prepared is just too funny. But I guess it just depends on where you live and I'm pretty certain that it will never be needed in my home.

It is pretty sad that you do not value freedom more than a life.

Do you value the right to free speech? Free religion? Right to due process? Freedom from unlawful search, seizure, and imprisonment? Do you understand the Bill of Rights and why it was established? Have you read a history book lately?

Boobs, this isn't about the bill of rights, freedom of speech, etc. I commenting on the statement that one thinks a firearm is worth more than a human life. Take your Ritalin and stay focused ...

It absolutely is about the Bill of Rights. Re-read what he said, he said that his firearm is worth more than the life of those that would take it away from him. I'm saying that the right to bear arms is as important as all of those other rights mentioned. People have been fighting and dying for those rights for all of recorded history. Were I to rephrase it into "my right to freedom of religion is worth more than the life of those that would take it away from me," would you still disagree? Would you say that freedom of religion is NOT worth more than the life of one who would eliminate that freedom? Or freedom of speech? Or all of the other rights that our founding fathers died, and killed for, to protect?

Whats funny about it? I have already given a real life example of my weapons not only protecting myself but protecting neighbors who refused to "prepare" like you.

QFT. It's pretty fucking sad to think that people like 3NF would toss away freedoms that lightly. It's also pretty amusing that those same people seem to think we live in such a different world today that those freedoms no longer apply.

so there's absolutely, 0% chance that someone could rob you or harm you?

Are you the guy that lives at home with his parents?

When you leave home and enter the real world and stop leeching off your parents, you'll see that 0% and 100% is not reality. Sure, there is chance, but I live by the 80/20 rule. I'd rather spend 20% of my time, focusing on the things that will happen 80% of the time, leaving 80% of my time to do what I want. You people got it backwards. You'll spend 80% of your time worrying about things that happen less then 20% of the time.

So yes, there is a chance, but I'm not going to arm myself to protect myself from something that is very unlikely to happen. And even if I did arm myself, it doesn't mean I would come away unscathed.

What state are you in 3NF? Other than denial.

Every part of the country is prone to some natural disaster, be it, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, blizzards. GO ahead and think you are safe where ever you are. When TSHF the only one I'm protecting is me and my immediate family. I am not going to waste my time and materials on someone that thoguht like 3NF and didn't want to be ready for anything. One of my best friends of 17 years thinks like you. Guess what, even though he's my friend, if something happens he's on his own.

You know, after World War 1, many Europeans joined the pacifist movement, people who thought that the atrocities of the conflict were so devastating, cruel, and inhumane, that warfare would never be seen again. Look how well that turned out. Your problem is that you believe "it can't happen to me," which shows complete ignorance of history.

I've never shot a paintball gun. But it was definetly something that was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

I went to the movies afterwards with some friends to see The Simpsons and through the whole movie, I kepy smelling my hands because they still had that gun/gun powder smell on them. I loved it.

I'll be the guy that gets up and actually tries to help EVERYONE, not just my family, through the situation, not the pussy hiding in his home behind a gun.
