I'm just making the point that you can't on day 1 claim that something is deadly and will come infest your country and murder and rape your family en masse and then on day 2 with no new evidence simply say "ah it's fine, let completely undo our policy from just yesterday".

Thats the problem with political rhetoric today. Routine things that can be discussed with evidence get turned into crazy inflammatory positions. One minute you're talking about gun control and then someone is arguing that gun control advocates want to see defenseless homeowners and their kids murdered and raped. Everything gets turned into a position that the other side is dangerous and trying to kill your family and it's ridiculous, disingenous, and very counter productive to solving real problems

He actually has but at this point I don't see why he bothers since it's obvious progressives have zero appetite for stopping the supply of willing labor for the slavers; supply creates its own demand and bottomless supply of exploitable cheap labor priced below minimum wage is going to get exploited no matter how much you crack down on employers.

This I agree with, your side doesn't want completely open borders but rather want to keep the capability to threaten sending them back at any point if you cheap labor steps out of line. That's an important control tool for your side.

It’s amusing how often they try the same argument where if you oppose their shitty bill then you must want Mexicans to annex America.

Conservatives are almost entirely to blame for America’s poor immigration system. If they stopped blocking real compromise legislation it would be better. Until they do that I don’t give a shit about their complaints about immigration. They brought it on themselves.
 
Looking like DHS won't refer parents with kids to DOJ. DOJ still intends to prosecute whoever is referred which is why they deny there is any change.

As moonbeam posed question in this or another thread, that should be ok according to conservative principles. If someone wants to work at 1 dollar an hour, should the government come in the way and say no you can’t? Does that not violate a person’s freedom?

Who is arguing for that besides the made up liberal in your head?

I think just about every bill put forward by Democrats on this subject had a path to bring those who are in the country out of the shadows and legalize them so they can't be mistreated. Its the GOP who has shit a brick over "amnesty" and refused to move forward on any legislation that does that.

If progressives want to gut their own labor laws via ignoring them when it comes to illegals then I guess they're getting their wish. Since theoretically its against the law to hire an illegal the only reason why an employer would do so would be to save money, I guess the left thinks adding several more million illegals will somehow magically create jobs for them; jobs which the employer will both break the law to hire them for while simultaneously obeying minimum wage, OSHA, and other labor laws. Makes complete sense.
