I'm the one getting screwed here.. not APPLE, because they decided to cut corners on their overpriced junk.
If you do a google search for ipod nano scratch easily, you'll find HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS!

yeah go use your beloved sandpapered ipods.. I'll return mine.. SO STFU!

you want glass? thats brittle enough it would have CRACKED rather than SCRATCHED.

Smoooooooth. And yes, scratching is normal use, IF YOU DONT USE A COVER, EXPECT IT TO BE SCRATCHED, THATS WHY THERE IS A MARKET FOR COVORS.

God you are so ignorant. Its not like a fender falling off at all, its like you bumped up against a pole and got a small scratch on the side of the car, and you are trying to return it for the paint not being resistant to that.

How the fvck is it like if I bumped a car into a pole? That's a fvcking accident. There were no accidents with my ipod.. it was scratched just from sitting in my basketball short's pocket.
It's like if you put your sweater on your car for five minutes, and the sweater imprinted into the car's paint as if it was still wet. It's not supposed to fvcking do that if they used half decent paint.

It got scratched just by normal use because apple chose to cut corners, and used cheap, soft plastic that gets scratched by the lightest touch.

your Ipod + your shorts + you at the gym = you dumbass. Get it now?

I'm guessing you've never been to the gym. It's not like i'm rock climbing with the ipod on an armband. Doing a few crunches and a few shoulder presses does not even make anything go near my pocket.

I merely suggested you move to another planet. Perhaps in an alternate universe they already invented scratch-free Ipods. Here, however, we have been stuck with mirrored finish ipods for the last five + years. It's a win-win situattion.

That analogy is PERFECT, because that is exactly what happened.

You used the car(ipod). You caused the paint(plastic) to be scratched. Instead of bumping into a pole, let's say you brushed up against some bushes.

Now you're saying it's Honda's(Apple's) fault that YOU scratched the paint(plastic).

Yes, scratches are malfunctions. One of the main selling points of the nano was that I could view my pictures on it. They sure aren't going to look nice with scratches all over them. The scrathes take away the functionality, GET IT?

It's more like you buying expensive glassware, only to find out that it's really soft plastic, and it got all scratched up in the dishwasher.

Why the fvck do people buy scratch resistant watches? If you bought a $1000 watch, and it got a scratch on the first day, well you'd damn well want to return it.

So, how many cell phones and digital cameras have you returned because they didn't use glass over the LCD?

Tell me this analogy still works after you've actually owned one of these.
Driving a honda across a bush is NOT normal usage.
It's like you wash a car(putting ipod into pocket), and the paint was so weak that the water took off the gloss(plastic so weak that it got scratched by the cloth).
HOW IS THAT MY FAULT?!?!

You used the car(ipod). You caused the paint(plastic) to be scratched. Instead of bumping into a pole, let's say you brushed up against some bushes.

Now you're saying it's Honda's(Apple's) fault that YOU scratched the paint(plastic).

Horsesh!t. :|

Christ.

Are you related to VladSlayer by any chance?

You guys just don't get it. It's more like if you bought a car.. and when you drove it normally, and the fender falls off the first day. The fender wasn't built well, and it fell off from normal use.
So you still broke it from using it.. But it's certainly not your fvcking fault that it's built so god damn cheaply. If apple just spent FIVE FVCKING more dollars to use real glass on the convering, instead of that CHEAP ASS SOFT PLASTIC, IT WOULD NOT GET SCRATCHED.

It's not supposed to fvcking do that if they used half decent paint.

wow you are ignorant..
all ipods scratch easily.. and you want to return one AFTER you used it?

Exactly.. all ipods suck.. What part don't you get that I don't want an mp3 player that uses cheap materials that gets scratched up easily?
god you guys are thick.

wow you are a selfish prick.. and you call us thick? jeez...

SCRATCHES ARE NOT MALFUNCTIONS!! GET IT? its like you buying expensive glassware, and after you put it in the dishwasher it chips, then can you return it back to the store? HELL NO since its not in the same condition as you got it!!

LOL!!! did apple ever advertise that its ipods are scratch resistant? NO! just because they sell covers you KNOW that it will scratch...

this is a joke..

ok go back to bestbuy and I hope the CSR laughs at your face

No, but i'd expect a DECENT level of scratch protection with my $200. It's just common sense.

OK, look.

I understand what you're saying.

But the analogy still stands. If the plastic is REALLY able to be scratched by cloth, you MAY be onto something.

However, that seems rather unlikely. More likely is that there were keys, change or solid debris in your pocket.

And rubbing up against a bush could be considered "normal use". It happens.

But nobody is going to blame Honda because of it. Don't you understand?

It doesen't matter if the LCD cover was made from the cheapest, softest plastic on the planet. It's still your fault that it was scratched. There's no way around it.

All this doesen't even matter, though. Take the Ipod back, but for the sake of the CSR's sanity, just say it wasn't what you were expecting.. not "It got scratched!".

Good call on returning it. Should have purchased it any place besides best buy. To bad more people didn't return their Ipods and force apple to improve the quality.

Whoa... what's up with the Creative bashing? Though its probably true for the later Zen models, I've been using a Jukebox 3 and the original Zen without issues for the past year.

GODDAMNIT NOTHING FELL OFF YOUR GODDAMNED IPOD. JESUS CHRIST!

This is why DAP covers/skins/protectors exist you imbecile. Just about any DAP can get scratched...and if a person with any common sense has a DAP and doesn't want it to get scratched, he/she will get a case/cover/protector for it. Its that simple.

Try the ipod nano. Many people are saying that they should have used the materials the ipod mini used because it's much better.

I don't know what the fvck you were doing to your Nano, but they look pretty tough to me:
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/3

I was gonna post that same article. They beath the fvck out of it, and it still played...up to a certain point that is.

Or one could say if a company didn't want its DAP returned due to scratches it should include a case/cover/protector.
