I think if ATOT can house threads about boogers, anime pr0n, or any other unbelievably inane subject then there should be room for this guys thread.

Those things are fun, this topic is the epidemy of emo and people are placing too much thought into areas of life that shouldn't be thought about.

 This also applies to being cool... the truly cool people are those that don't give a damn about being cool

Ok, I was responding to an assumption made by someone else, not the OP himself.

Again, you're a toolshed. Just admit it. You came in here guns blazing, and what's amusing is that while some people WERE critical of the OP, I am the one you specifically chose to cite, and I was one that did NOT attack him. So go back into your hole, boy. You're just a sad little hypocrite.

Wow, good stunt deeko. You got me! I'm a "toolshed'!

I suppose it's possible that I misinterpreted that flow of the conversation (which I'm limited to examining since you don't know how to quote people) but I'm confident that you were referring to the OP (perhaps people LIKE the OP) when you stated:

"Originally posted by: Deeko
Ahh....so it was more of a "hey look at me! I'm so different! Hooray, me!" thread then. Makes sense. "

Yeah buddy, you're innocent! You LOVE guys like the OP!

For what it's worth, I would respect you more if you could stand by your laurels even if I disagree with you.

A) I am really not concerned with someone like you "respecting" me
B) You really got original there, quoting the same thing twice in a row. As I said, I was responding to someone *not* the OP with that comment, I guess you conveniently ignored that.
C) Regardless, that comment had nothing to do with the OPs interests anyway. More the thread itself

They're a bunch of millionaires playing a game.

You must not have gone to a school that had a decent football team. I don't give a rat's ass about pro sports but I'm passionate about NCAA football (especially my beloved Auburn Tigers).

Or don't, but find happiness somehow. Yeesh.

Who said I wasn't happy?

Yeah but are you going to post a thread questioning your masculinity about it like the OP? I bet not.

With almost 25,000 posts, I think that he'd know better!

Besides, Pontifex is a gun nut and even his user name means "bridge builder". Sounds pretty manly to me!

The only time I enjoy watching sports is during the Olympics and even there my interest is more academic than anything. I've always felt the "jock" mentality to be almost completely alien. But in the same stroke I've never understood 'nerds', again too aggressive a personality type. I can't stand most rock/pop I prefer classical music. I don't like almost any movie targeted at men my age, action flicks, horror, shallow special effects extravaganzas. I've never caught on to the gorefest FPS extravaganza that seems to pass for your average game these days. I far prefer complex dramas, RPGs, adventure games and the like. I'm anti violence, anti death penalty, anti gun (well not entirely), anti conservative. I have long hair and would probably have been a hippie in days of yore, except I'm probably not social enough to have been even that. No I don't think I would pass the prelims for man card certification. But then I don't care to own one really. You could say that in everything but sexuality and mannerisms I'm a fairly gay man, not that I care, but I love watching the womenz.

How do you compare?

Yes the above is a bit of an exaggeration about myself but not hugely.

Comparison:
Nature documentaries are occasionally interesting.
I like (in order of most to least): Football, Baseball, Basketball, Olympics, Nascar, College Sports
I dislike extreme nerds and extreme jocks
I like some rock, some pop, some rap, strong classical (Big orchestral)
I like AAA movies, ie LOTR, Star Wars, most superhero movies, sci-fi, etc
I like some FPS, some RPG, some strategy, and mmo's, dislike adventure
I am pro-violence in neccesary situations, pro-death penalty in neccesary situations, pro-gun in the right hands, and anti-liberal and anti-conservative
I have short hair (3/8" to 1" max)
I like making gay jokes, but I also like joking about everything, I am an equal-opportunity hater, lol

Same here, i despise boring or plain people. IMO they try too hard to avoid a crowd mentality and avoid popular things when a crowd mentality is healthy sometimes.

I match most of what you described yourself as being except I tend to be quite social and I enjoy movies targeted at men. I also really enjoy movies that are way out in left field too though. I have yet to be considered any less of a man by anyone I know including those who have opposite interests. I have also never had any issues with attracting quality women.

anyway... yeh, my father was a very avid sport's fan.

it's not just about burly "millionaires", as someone said, running around with a ball. it's about competition, strategy, being physically fit and on top of your game, and being able to cheer someone on to victory. sports, in a way, is a lot like life.

it's not like i couldn't like a guy who wasn't into sports, i just don't know if we'd be compatible. he'd come off as non-competitive, and that to me is boring.

What do you make of people who like playing sports but don't like watching sports?

It has nothing to do with being competitive, it has to do with being more concerned about the competition you yourself can directly impact and what some other dude is doing. When you get down to it, watching sports isn't competitive at all, it is just a form of entertainment as relevant as watching a movie or playing a video game. You can cheer for Batman just like you cheer for Football, while Batman may have a predetermined outcome, you didn't really affect the outcome of the Football game either. In fact, playing a video game like TF2 is A LOT more competitive than watching a sport. While the video game might not be athletic, it is your own skill and talent on the line, you are directly affecting the outcome.

However, I suddenly become a lot more interested in watching sports when money enters the mix. Money can make a lot of things interesting though.

So sports=manly? Some chicks like sports, are they manly?
"'nerds', again too aggressive a personality type"
Nerds are agressive? Like, from compton?

Do you want people to pick on you or do you want people to reassure you that you are ok?
What's your angle w/ this thread?

Were your parents overprotective? Never let you play DOCTOR with those girls? Always shielded you from bullies until middle school?

You are really boring. You are afraid to meet women. You give up easily. You failed and stopped at that, while a good person would try again and again.

You are a beta male. You sit on sidewalk and watch alpha males grab all the women.

Here's the rescue plan:

1. Start working out. Weightlifting and cardio.
2. Eat right.
3. Get fashionable hair cut, clothes.
4. Practice social skills (OMG APPROACHING WOMEN>?>!>! NO. GTFO, leave that to alpha male. sit on the computer and watch womenz on porn site and don't even dream of ever doing THAT)
5. !??!
6. come back and laugh at this thread, what retard you were

I don't care much about sports, at least watching them (I used to more when I was younger). I like NFL football though, and playing football is fun. But I have absolutely no interest in baseball, hockey, sports car racing. Paintball is awesome, I wish I could play it more.

I like action movies (not much violence or tons of gore), guns, drinking/partying, rock music (except for 99% of metal, it's boring), violent video games.

Overall I'm not very competitive because I don't really give a shit what other people are doing or what they think so it's sorta hard to be competitive. If I am playing a game against others, I do play to win though, but don't go overboard with it. It's just a game, after all.

But I think Pliablemoose said it right:
