This, with near certainty, is what will happen. Though I expect the broader roll out to also be marred by the same kind of glaring incompetence as PPE and the remdesivir debacles courtesy Jared or some other idiot.

I think we will see one or more approvals this year. The virus is running rampant in the US and Brazil where we are looking for efficacy so we're likely to get that signal relatively soon. There is a lot of prep work, planning, purchasing/distribution of supplies that has to be done and so far mostly what I see is handwaving that they're on top of it. Needless to say I am less than confident.

My doctor thinks I will be in line ahead of front line people even, being at risk. I have no idea how prioritization of vaccinations will play out. The economy will probably be on life support.

The polls were right on. Some of the States ended up not right on, but nothing was out of the margin for error. A poll is never going to totally accurate, as human behavior has variability even if they answered the poll the night before one way and then had an epiphany which changed their mind.

This will be a disaster. In Florida, even without the virus, the system could not even handle regular unemployment payments. The additional was a mess. This approach would make most payments to the unemployed either payable to the bankruptcy administrator, a creditor, a person’s estate or will be paid to an address that the person no longer lives at and cannot be redirected to their shopping cart or the tent city they now live in.

So long as there aren't any nasty effects, I wouldn't be surprised. The alternative to a fast vaccine is going into prime virus season with no real defense, and even having to spend a large chunk of 2021 wearing masks and avoiding anything more than tiny gatherings.

I think the concern was originally that mitigation would drive the level of virus down too far to get a fast efficacy signal.

Looking at the southern US and Brazil that's not going to be a problem.
