She's cute. Let me know if she divorces you... ;)

J/K

I'd spend Thanksgiving with my wife over taking a trip with friends...

What is up with you people and the wifey dependence thing.... you get married and boom, you have to do everything with the wife?... F that man... there is no woman on this planet who I would give up my entire life for. Being married should not mean you never ever do anything apart ever again... that's just absolute crazy talk.

In my opinion a confident married couple could spend some time apart without the relationship going to hell in a handbasket.

The trip sounds like it would be phenomenal... and just because your wife is hot, and your wife doesnt mean you can't have that adventure for 8 weeks.

Screw all these overprotective Skywalkers in this thread... go have some fun. And then go again with your wife later... and show her around europe from your new wiser point of view.

AND WRITE HER LETTERS.

Tell her that you're going to Europe to test your marriage. Tell her you want to prove to her that a simple trip with your buddies will not get in the way of your marriage because you love her so much.

And then tell her that you'll be spending Thanksgiving with her for many more years to come so don't worry about it.

guess you've never been married, eh?

Going on a trip without them is a no-no unless its already been discussed before hand. You can't just up an say "well I'm going on a trip to wonderful Europe, sorry you have to work"

LOL @ all the replies.
Something like this will never get between this couple. I've known them both since the first day met (actually, I was there when they first met - thanks German 1105 and Borlo's Cafe) and I know they'll never make a big deal out of such thing. She is jealous, that's all :D
Btw Justin, that pic of me, Hannah and Matt is hilarious :)

Dunno if you already addressed this, but will taking time off at Thanksgiving use up vacation days at work that will impact your ability to take vacation time with her later when she's on break? If this trip will impact future travel WITH her, I'd think that would probably be what's really behind her upset. If not, then she's just feeling understandably envious of your trip because she wants to go, or she might be concerned about the cost of the trip. I don't know, I probably would have had hurt feelings if my spouse took a big non-business trip like that without me when we were first married. But, then again, he wouldn't have done something like that without me, so I wouldn't have been in that position.

It's eight frickin days.... I bet if it was his wife asking to do the same with some girlfriends, you'd call him overpossesive to not allow her to go...

Your version of marriage I will never ever submit to. Even for Angelina.

your wife is cute.

I see big cleavage in the background. Were you in a German restaurant by chance?

I, of coure, invited myself and my wife to go along since she loves Europe and I've never been. Well apparently she isn't allowed to take vacation days since she's a teacher and they get all sorts of breaks. So I said I would just go, which of course I got the response "What you'd rather spend Thanksgiving with them than me..." so i said "Well, yes it is Europe" Anyways she didn't like that...

Am I being unreasonable? Is this something I need to accept as part of married life? It's not a huge issue between us I'm just trying to adjust to this whole 'dependence' thing :)

cliff notes:

wife can't go to europe, i still want to
does that make me suck

edit:
me and the wife -> Justin/Hannah

Dude, forget europe... your wife is a total hottie... take more pics of her during thanksgiving and post them for our masturbatory purposes... hahaha

But seriously take a europe trip with the wifey when she can get time to go... :)

I mean, you guys, after looking at the pictures, wouldn't you rather spend those days with her than going to Europe?

If it's only eight days, then I'd go to Europe... he has the rest of his life to hit it for God's sake...

It's funny how most of the advice that she's being controlling is probably coming from people who have never been married...probably not ever been in a serious relationship. Once you get married it is absolutely about you AND your wife. Yes there are compromises but not on something like this. If you want to go to Europe, wait until she can go. It will be worth the wait and it's something that would be better shared with her than two of your single friends.

Hehehe, sad...but true. She will file this one away for use later, trotting it out when you really want something baaad.

She'll probably throw it back in your face by saying something along these lines:

<insert sarcastic/pissed off voice here>

"Why the F*ck are you asking me, you wanted to go to Europe instead of spending our first Thanksgiving together!"

Good luck with this one dude ;)
