I laugh at the folks that think you can't make a huge profit off these things.

I don't think anyone has really said you can't make a profit off of these.

There's a lot of people out there that just want one, maybe two, and yet there's people hoarding 20+ of these things just resell. Capitalism at its finest, sure, but it's still fucking despicable. IMO, of course.

A few pages back a couple of folks expressed doubts about the hoarders being able to mark them up for a profit. I really don't care though, I bought 3 - I'm keeping one and selling the other two at enough profit to make the one I keep free.

Don't let this latest source get into the hands of the Slickdeals' locusts. They'll leave no server standing. 🙂

Anyway, my order from Circuitcity.com has shipped. Whether my backup second order ships or not really doesn't matter any longer. The Touchpad easily bests some of those sub-$200 Chinese iPad knockoffs. Very much worth the money.

I put in the max number allowed me to put "999999999" in the cart and even went to a checkout screen that said $129,949,999,870.05 as my total and asked for payment... This is www.erwincomputers.com that I'm talking about... Maybe it will work, not sure, cross ur fingers...

They've known for hours... High chance of no more in stock there..

I haven't read any Slickdeals threads all day. Figures. This post from over there is pretty funny though.

Quote from scorcho :
this is why i love slickdeals. come for the potential deals, stay for the crazy posts.

I think we have found a new motto for SlickDeals.

Well, I don't recall hearing of this ErwinComp but I'm giving it a try.

We'll see if it goes through. I just want 1 for my wife.

Just ordered 3 from here. Price is higher @ $130, but not terrible considering they are sold out virtually everywhere. The merchant has good ratings with bizrate.com, and such.

GOOD LUCK!

I think Erwin is selling a different pad, look at the part number and upc codes. I almost bought one but noticed the difference at the last second.

Yah, maybe it's not a legit website, but on the UPC (that checks out) that's weak sauce. Looks good to me on google. I'm not worried; I'm sure Amex would have no problem doing a chargeback on a fraud situation.

You could be right but that's super flimsy on what you presented.

So the next morning, Erwin wakes up and checks his online sales...

Woohoo!! I've sold $5,233,953.42 worth of goods in one day!!

[checks Sale By Item #]

[goes to garage]

[checks Inventory]

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU............

Over 350 Facebook likes on that page. Seems like a legit site but they dont have Paypal so no goose chases on random sites in middle of night for me. B&N took my juice for this item away.

Newegg.com has the same part number as Erwincomp.com, so I'm going to speculate that HP may have two part numbers - one for direct sales, and one for resellers. Just a guess though.

At any rate, the fact that Newegg.com has the same part number listed (FB454UT#ABA) should dash any fears of it being a different tablet.

Eh, Erwin isn't worth it to risk trying to get one there for a few reasons.

So on a hunch I checked Sears.com, and they have the 16 gb in stock supposedly. Problem is that their website lists the 16 gb for $130 (OOS) and for $390 (In stock). After my run I might call them and see what is going on.

I ordered from Barnes and Noble last night, they canceled today, I think that's scummy.

I just wanted 1 to use for a portable internet device.

They must have updated their page then, yesterday afternoon they said the item was discontinued. Maybe some people canceled orders.

Fuck you Insight. Not taking any calls at 3 PM when you were supposed to be open from 8 AM to 8 PM. And now when I stop checking for an hour or two, all touchpads are snapped up.
Yeah, they suck. I called them yesterday and they said they wouldn't honor the price, and I couldn't get a price match if I bought one then at the retail price and it dropped later. They also said it was unlikely that they would drop the price. Then they drop it temporarily and then put it back up with the call for availability at the original price. Something doesn't seem normal about how they are handling this, has anyone ordered from them before? They seem shady.
