A few comments on the 9207US from CompUSA.
1. $799 currently; I grabbed it.
2. There's a LOT of junk on the HP install.
3. The LCD screen, to be nice, sucks. Compared to the Gateway M505 (15.4" widescreen) I had before, the Gateway's was considerably better.
4. The small right shift key is annoying.
5. The DVD is a tray load, not a slot load like the Gateway had (I'm spoiled!)
6. The GF7600Go is decent for a laptop GPU. It's not a screamer (I had to drop most Company of Heroes preferences to middle or low, and still only got a "Good" perf rating) but it's not bad, and for non-gamers it's overkill; for gamers, it'll play most stuff at middling settings at 1440x900, or drop the resolution and play in full glory.
7. HDMI, but no DVI, and DVI's currently a lot easier to come by, so this is a bit annoying...
8. This is a BIG notebook. And it's a HEAVY notebook.
9. The machine comes with 2 remotes - a tiny one with a few commands (the ones you need for MCE) and a huge Microsoft MCE-compliant one with the full range of keys. I anticipate only using the small one. Conveniently, it fits in the Expresscard slot. Not conveniently, there's only one Expresscard slot, so you can either put your TV Tuner in there, or the mini-remote control.
10. The TV Tuner requires a small cable that permits a coax cable to be attached to the tuner. Another thing to carry... Also, the tuner sticks out of the laptop about an inch, so you'd need to remove it whenever travelling.
If there are any questions, post away.
